The Suns looked pretty good in the halfcourt game in their victory over San Antonio last Wednesday. I think it s apparent now that you may want the Suns to run on you because Shaq is not a big a factor on defense or offense in a fast pace then in a slower half court style game. Shaq took advantage of the single team as the Spurs chose to not double and Shaq got good looks and used his size and strength to get in close for easy hooks. Tracey McGraday missed Wednesday game with the Sonics due to a sore left shoulder.You always have to worry about energy level with the Phoenix Suns because of their age and face no back to back situation in this spot against Houston. Phoenix is placing pressure on the LA Lakers to keep winning to keep ahead of the Suns as home court advantage in the first round is up for grabs late in the season. Houston is playing really good right now as they have allowed opponents to shoot under 40% in three of their last 4 games and have won 4 straight. But a quick look at the Rockets schedule and you will find 5 straight non-playoff contending teams. The Rockets are just 1-4 straight up in their last 5 games against playoff contending teams. I expect the Suns to finish strong in their final 3 games and the Suns will find a way to get the ball into Shaq and we may have got a preview of the Suns strategy in the postseason with Shaq in their victory against San Antonio. This is a very tough spot for the Nuggets having to play at altitude in Utah the night before. Both teams need this game as the Nuggets are battling for the playoffs while Houston is battling for home court in the playoffs. The Rockets have jelled as a team under Rick Adelman and only give up an average of just under 92 points per game ranking them 4th in the league. Luther Head has played well for the Rockets hitting on 22 of his last 35 shots heading into Friday s action. Head has been aggressive and has gotten into a good rhythm for the Rockets. Denver has performed poorly in back to back games as they are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 back ends and failed twice in a row at home in this spot. Let s take the rested and better defensive team in the Rockets in this one +3.

Jake Peavy is off to a great start this season. Peavy in 2 starts this season has given up 1 run and 5 hits with 12 strikeouts. Peavy allowed 1 run over 9 innings in his last start last Saturday against the Dodgers. Peavy has pitched very well against the Dodgers over his career. There was a little controversy following Peavy s start against the Dodgers as his hands were dirty and some speculated Peavy was applying pine tar to the baseball. Padre manager Bud Black claimed it was from dirt and from the rosen bag and not pine tar and not much transpired afterwards so it was put to rest. Peavy could be on his way to his second straight Cy Young award. Brad Penny pitched well in his first start at home this season limiting the Giants to 4 hits and no ones over 6 2/3rd innings. Penny had a great 2007 at home as in 19 starts he sported an ERA just over 3. The Padre bats were ice cold at San Francisco and this one will go under like we had it when these two pitchers met on Saturday. Play Under 6 runs.

Chien-Ming Wang has pitched well in his two starts this season giving up only 2 earned runs over 13 innings pitched. The Yankees have been hit with the injury bug as Jorge Posada has a sore arm and Derek Jeter missed games due to strained left quad muscle. Jeter is expected back for the Boston series. But Wang has not faired well at Fenway as he has given up 21 earned runs over his last 28 1/3rd s innings pitched against the Red Sox at Boston. Big Papi bats .462 and Manny Ramirez is 7 of 8 lifetime versus Wang. Young Clay Buccholz was roughed up by the Blue Jays in his first start giving up 3 earned runs, 6 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings in defeat. Bucholz was roughed up in the spring sporting an ERA of 10.03 in 4 starts. Buccholz is feeling the pressure as Bartolo Colon is sitting the minors as a possible replacement for him should he continue to falter as a starter. Francona will have a quick hook here. The Red Sox pen has not been good this young season. Play OVER 9 runs.
