Not a very well paced trailer and a bit lengthy, but this was a tough sell for Disney. At 20 million, it was the most expensive film ever made at the time in 1979. Also, it was the first Disney picture to be released with a PG rating, a result of the picture featuring a violent human death, also a Disney first. Still, it is a Disney movie through and through. Naturally inspired by the success of Star Wars , the film was quite risky. This was a time before studios relied heavily on sequels or comics, toys, and video games for cinematic inspiration. The movie itself is great despite a bizarre ending. Great design and excellent performances by some real pros throughout embody this movie with a very distinct feel. Recommended.
