Definitely one of our favorite Mashup artists of all time here at Mashuptown is Pheugoo. This Dutch mashmaster consistently churns out great tracks for the community. What you may not know is that he has even more boots that never make it to the internets. We often get a taste of what he has conjured up but never releases. He probably has at least an album of tracks he could release. And it is all grade 'A' material. Today however we can present you with a Pheugoo official release. Gotta love virgin mashups. Lucas from The Battle School pinged us with this track and I immediately felt it was postworthy. Hailing from Brooklyn Lucas had this insight into the track: ..it just sort of came to me one night when I was drunk and playing around in Ableton (usually a good combo). I was chopping up DVNO when the J-Timbo song just popped into my head. About 6 hours later I had the mashup essentially finished. I used a Waves L2 limiter on the master bus in Ableton 7, and the beer I used was Guinness. Other than that the effects you hear are just clips stretched out really long and pitched up or down, reversed, or just generally fucked with. A Guiness powered track. I must say that Hype Williams did a great job on her videos and i did used 2 of them (i couldn't resist on the dance sequence under the rain so i grabbed it) ....It was then obvious for me to use also one of the greatest musical movie of the 20th century Singin' in ze rain ... The new band Neon Neon, a project from Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys, known as the frontman of Super Furry Animals, are meeting up with Depeche Mode's classic People Are People and a bit of Latour. New PingPong showed up yesterday in the mtown inbox. Great track from one of the producers of Mashup Industries. A few words form Pingpong: After 6 months of working on other projects i found the time to produce a few new mashups. here comes the first one! NIN - the hand that feeds vs. Roisin Murphy - You Know. I've got the roisin murphy file and was looking for a good idea to mash it. while i listened to it NIN was playing on itunes, it was pure luck. i don't have to search for the right music, i've found it in the first 20seconds. The producing process was about 1day, then the first rough mix was ready, and it sounded really powerful. additionally i put some reverb and delay on the voice and did some EQ'ing. Thats it, no extra Fx or mixing tricks. simple A/B mashup. the whole thing was done 1,5 days. Again, my big luck was that itunes runned in background :-) Therefore, always listen to music when you are at work, at home, or when you producing mashups! :-) Propers out to PingPong. I don't know why this is the case, but I don't think we've ever featured a mashup by DJ Y Alias JY. Probably because he's relatively new. I also don't know why he can't choose between his monikers, especially when they are only one letter off from each other. What I DO know is that he's a 38 year-old from Munich, Germany who can definitely throw some shit together. I'm not going to bother telling you what's all in this track, because I have other things I'd like to accomplish in life before I die. This is the first time we've featured Tranterco here on MTown. For those who don't know, Tranterco is part of Melbourne's Gameboy/Gamegirl (who's fun tracks Sweaty/Wet and Fruit Salad are hard things to get out of your head). Tranterco doesn't re-invent the wheel here, with this A + B mashup - but it's still a sweet production. Both tracks are loud, clear, and leveled, and you just can't go wrong with such great source material from Spank Rock and The Midnight Juggernauts. Ah, shit. I just did up this whole post about great minds thinking alike, and how Dunproofin' and DJ Lobsterdust both must have had Faith No More's track Epic running through their minds lately, as they both came up with a mashup that involves it. It was gonna be a double post - but then I realized we already posted Lobsterdust's Epic Black Rock! Anyways, you still get one track out of the deal - Dunproofin's funky mash of Epic with Primal Scream's Loaded - tracks which he says are virtually the same, one with an ascending chorus, the other with a descending chorus. Today, something different. The new DJ Morgoth album Mash-Up Your Bootz Vol. 3 is out now. And the different thing is that the subtitle is Das Deutsche Album or in translation The German Album . So this means, there are only German Vocals used in the trackz. Expect some international bands like Blur, Fear Factory, Celldweller, Daft Punk, Evanescence, Kasabian, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party and more meeting up with the German Vocals of Rap/Hip-Hop Artists (Die Fantastischen Vier, Dynamite Deluxe, Jan Delay, Deichkind...), controversial Rock Band (Böhse Onkelz), famous Reggae/Dancehall Group (Seeed), Electro-Acts (Lützenkirchen Rammstein , which are also kinda famous international and on the other side Fettes Brot , which were after Fanta 4 one of the first better German Rap Groups. Serial abuse of mashup can drive you crazy That's maybe why i used a scene of Spellbound as an intro for my Sweet Lobster. I couldn't resist; Sweet Dreams made me remember of those fantastic Dream's scenes of Alfred Hitchcock movie - maybe was also because the master asked an other crazy guy to imagine them for the screen; Salvatore Dali. As B52's Rock Lobster worked perfectly with the eurythmics song; it was then obvious to me that Sponge Bob was the Wright guy for me to play guitars in that mash...Who knows better about shellfishes, than the rockin' square sponge itself ? - DJ Le Clown Always enjoy Phil's work.
