Limited Appeal - Genital CuffLimited Appeal - Genital Cuff
from Limited Appeal
July 24, 2008

After John spanks T-bone and threatens to get out the genital cuff, Warren asks us whether Bob Saget has gone nuts as a way of psychologically coping with the Full House days. Listen and you might find out why Bob Saget got the part and whether James Earl Jones was involved. Then in a new Good Idea/Bad Idea segment, Warren asks us to consider the ethics of provoking seizures and migraines in epilectics. Is it morally equivalent to exploiting or decapacitating the deaf? These are important problems, even if decapacitate was not a word until just now. If you can help John and his bugs with some directions, let us know by email (maskedman@limitedappeal.net). Theme music courtesy of General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners and Ipecac Recordings.

This clip will be VERY boring if you aren't into the Canadian kid's show DEGRASSI. Jimmy drops a minor spoiler, but it's something that's been in the commercials. Cast: Jeff Rubin

There's a lot of street performers at Fisherman's Wharf. Usually they are pretty easy to ignore, but this is one we couldn't resist. This guy sits next to a sign that says "Live Impressions - Shout Out a Star! $1." You have to pick a celebrity off his list, but there were many to choose from. My friend Dave ponied up two dollars and requested Sidney Poitier. It's a scene from 1963's The Long Ships (http://imdb.com/title/tt0057259/). My friends and I realized when we walked away that none of us had any idea what a good Sidney Poitier impression was like. What do you guys think? Cast: Jeff Rubin

This is me doing standup at an open-mic night at the Village Lantern on October 26th, 2004. It was one of only 4 or 5 times I did standup in New York. This was right before the 2004 presidential election. I notice watching it now, a year and a half later, that there are long periods of time when nobody laughs. I knew that going in though. I still think this is a pretty engaging, even if it's not always hilarious. I was working a crappy temp job entering data at the time, and during the day I would enjoy a lot of Spalding Gray monologues, so I think that's why I decided that would be okay. I constantly toy with the idea of doing random open mics again. I really enjoyed writing the whole routine, and figuring out the best way to make it all go together. I did not really enjoy performing. My rehearsal regiment included daily shower performances and walking around my suburban NJ town in the middle of the night muttering to myself. It made me very nervous. I've done other types of public speaking before and since and generally I enjoy it, but stand-up is different. If a musician does an open-mic night with his guitar, everyone (should) stand around and be respectful and clap at the end. But with these, even your close friends can't force laughter (though you will hear my friend Scott, who was holding the camera, valiantly try). That thought made me more nervous than I probably needed to be. The catchphrase schtick was pretty standard for my stand-up appearances. I really liked doing it, I felt like it was a good way to engage the audience. All in all a decent performance, and one I'm not embarrassed to post on Vimeo. p.s. i just googled noah mccullough and he has a website - http://noahmccullough.com/ Cast: Jeff Rubin
