This is an excerpt of one of two videos from a project by the french sound artist Pali Meursault. The project was developed during an artist residency at Binauralmedia's studio in Nodar, Portugal and of sound creation and also the research for a form of musical writing, through the meeting with an environment. This research used the techniques of field-recording, as well as improvisation with found objects, sound installation or documentary, and mainly: walking exploration and encounters. All of this carried out with an extended idea of what an environment is, by questioning the sonorous specificities of space, as well as its geographical, temporal, social or political datum.

Partly comical and absurd due to the sheer hopelessness of the endeavor (survival chances seem to be pretty slim in many scenarios), partly very serious due to the determination to try, the work will be a collection of video art, writing, photography, sculpture, installation and performance. The project was made locally in response to the space and people of Nodar, Portugal.

A short documentary by the Spanish filmaker Tamara Rodriguez shot in Nodar, Portugal. Instead of sending a letter to their son Mario Jorge who is immigrated in Switezrland, Donzilia and Mario speak to the camera, telling about the novelty of a new barbecue they are building in the house.

"Bread and Birth" is an audiovisual project by Dennis B thory-Kitsz and Stevie Balch, developed at Binaural's artist residency in Nodar, Portugal last during April 2007.

A guided tour through the Paiva River in Nodar, Portugal, hosted by Luis Costa, president of Binaural, a NGO that organizes an media arts residency programme in that village.

A video of the intermedia project "La Scatola" developed at Nodar Guest Studio, Portugal. The authors, the Italian vocal performer Manuela Barile and the Portuguese sound artist Rui Costa were artists-in-residence at Binauralmedia's media lab (www.binauralmedia.org) last October 2007 where they finished the first installment of a series of performances and installations related to the notion of closeness ('la scatola' means 'the box', which is a metaphor for any close envirnoment, especially those related to past memories).

A video developed in Nodar, Portugal by the Israeli performer Vered Dror. Along with "Souvenirs de Carmella" (also on this show) it was presented as an installation in the exhibition of Fronte[i]ras 07 - I International Meeting of Transdisciplinary Arts, an event organized by Binaural (Portugal) and Alg-a (Spain) that took place last September 2007 in Portugal and Spain.

An experimental video and audio piece conceived and shot by the american artist Maile Colbert at NOGS in Nodar, Portugal. A poetic recollection of personal and others memories that made use of a methaforical comparison between the memory formation and the weaving of wool, linking the intimate with Nodar's specific traditions and crafts (shepherding, weaving, fabric and cloths making).

A video conceived and performed by Suzanne Caines at Nodar, Portugal. A social interaction project, dealing with the uneseness of being a foreigner who doesn't speak the local language. Suzanne Caines developed an idea of sharing something from her country (in this case, a split pea soup from Canada) with Nodar and Parada de Ester's inhabitants. The video captures all the process of making and offering the soup, with the corresponding social interactions. And the end of the video is definitely a surprise...

A video from the art project developed at Nodar, Portugal by the Israeli performer Vered Dror. An Israeli speaking girl arrives in Nodar trying to sell souvenirs from the village to the local inhabitants. The question is that she only speaks hebrew, so the language and cultural barriers become the main issue of her social interaction. The curious thing is that the initial uneasiness gives place, after a couple of weeks, to a metalanguage communication based in facial expressions, gestures and emotions.
