Northwest colleges and universities have been tightening their belts in this tough economy. Some are dropping degree programs and refocusing their basic fields of study. But the University of Idaho is proposing cuts even in places that go to the core of its agricultural mission as a land grant institution. Within the next few weeks, the university expects to announce whether it's closing three agricultural research facilities. Inland Northwest Correspondent Doug Nadvornick reports advocates believe it's a short sighted strategy that will hurt Idaho's economy.

My trip to California was supposed to be a laid back trip, and an interview at Cafe Gratitude on Monday night. It wound up being a life changing experience, as an atom bomb went off in every cell of my being, and I saw so clearly that I am a full blown food addict. Sugar is my drug of choice. This has been the hardest video I've ever made during my journey to raw food and to ultimate health. But sometimes it takes a person or a message to come into your life when you least expect it to take your life to the next level. We took the Cook Man Food Show on the river with a Trip Down the Upper Animas with Mountain Waters Rafting. This is one of the best rivers in North America when the water is running hard. These guys take their food seriously and have setup a full commercial Kitchen at their camp that sits up above 10,000 feet. After we got off the river we got warmed back up with some great soup from Wind and Willow. Then got down to business and cooked steaks topped with onions mushrooms and bacon along with some chicken topped with green chilies and jack cheese. We finished then meal off with some biscuits and berry cobbler in the Dutch Oven. If you ever get a chance to come to Durango you should consider going on a trip with Mountain Waters. They simply do it better than anyone else.
