The final chapter of the Wilburys that Travel. Heading right to the music, I ll open open with Inside Out- the state of the world today, or maybe just the state of my life, lol! Getting back to that question of why Vol.3 followed Vol.1, the official word was that Vol.3 was recorded by a different group of brothers. All the remaining members, Dylan, Lynne, Harrison, Petty, took DIFFERENT Wilbury names. In other words, a Vol.2 could NEVER be done, out of respect for the death of Roy Orbison. Moving on with the music, got one for my inevitable trip to the Poor House. The Traveling Wilbury s CD s were out of print for many years, mainly because George Harrison owned the rights, and died before he could renew them. I have an outtake by George. A terrific song called Maxine. I ll be quoting from a very perceptive article by a guy named Phil Reed. Then a song that may have slipped through the cracks, the Travelers contributed the title song on the children s album, the Romanian Angel Appeal Benefit Album. Engineer Ken accidentally played Roy Orbison s last posthumous hit instead. But we got it all straightened out. I ll take it all home with another outtake that is so good I can t believe it wasn t released- appropriately called I m Gone (and I am in more ways than one, lol!) Just a great rocker! I owe a great debt of thanks to my pal Mike Hennessy for his contributions to this series. So I do so publicly- Thanks Mickster! This last episode is a good one. Hope you like it. Mike

3/28/08: Margaritas, fake mustaches, 80s chic, skulls-a-plenty and skate deck art for a good cause. For three years now, Maven has been been teaming up with local artists and presenting different themed Skate Deck Art Benefits. This year they raised money for the much needed redesign of the Burlington Skatepark. In March, funds were approved for a new skatepark as part of the Moran Redevelopment Project. The money raised from Friday's silent auction of the skate decks will be used to pay for blueprints for a new and improved concrete park. We talked to skateboarders and deck artists about their work and why they risk broken bones and fractured bits for the pleasure of skateboarding. In my opinion it is best to use a more matte to sheer finish eye shadow all over the eye lid and then add a little frosted and highly pigmented colour to outer corners and or along lower lashline to keep the colours not looking too harsh through the lenses. Think of an auto show, where you have all these cool cars lined up. Liz decided to do this with blogs, allowing other people to promote their sites on her site. It s now a great resource for you online. Check out 260 blogs on one page. While you re there, check out Bigg Success we re Entry 114. We learned about a lot of great sites that we didn t know about before. Benefit by promoting others Liz s creativity got us thinking about the benefit of promoting others. It shows your customers that you care about more than money. Before I sold my other service businesses, we encouraged our customers to call us first, no matter what their problem was. In many cases, we didn t perform the service they needed. However, they really appreciated that we helped them find someone good. It paid off in the long term. . Here at Bigg Success, we try to do the same thing. We seek out professionals who are experts in their field. We invite them to be on our show to share insight and advice with you that we couldn t do alone. . We try to find people who know more than we do and that s not hard to do! Seriously, they may have a deeper understanding of a subject or know something peripheral to it. The point is when you promote others, you also promote yourself because you re the hub. Benefit by promoting with others Sometimes the people you promote are your competition, but that can pay off too. There s a concept that s been practiced for years, but not really talked about openly. It s been given the name coopetition . Not long ago, we spoke with a man who owns a restaurant. In our town, we have a campus area with about 40,000 or so students. We also have a downtown with a vibrant nightlife. His restaurant sits in a little cluster of restaurants in between the two areas. He couldn t afford to advertise in the college newspaper. But what he could do is band together with his fellow restaurateurs and advertise their restaurants as a group. They promote bringing your date to one of their restaurants on the way to going downtown to enjoy the nightlife. Suddenly, he saw a way to reach a whole new market a market that was unattainable on his own. So sometimes the best way to build your brand is by promoting with others. We have Vermont's own Dark Knight to thank for this rare event - US Senator Patrick Leahy who has a small cameo in the film. Patrick Leahy grew up in Montpelier Vermont. Blind in one eye, he spent much of his free time reading comics at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Years later, he is the library's favorite Superhero, donating proceeds from his Batman film appearances and raising money from this recent screening of The Dark Knight.
