Top 10 Funny Music Videos of the 2000s: The Song Parodies

Filed under: Video, The Hit List Ever since 'Weird Al' Yankovic instructed the public to 'Eat It,' music videos have been ripe for mockery. And rightly so: The line between hip and hilarious is a fine one, indeed. For comedians, the rabid pursuit of cool on constant display in music videos is easy pickings. And maybe it's because comics secretly want to be pop stars, but some of the funniest material of the the past decade has been song spoofs. Here are the top 10 funny music video parodies of the 2000s. 10. 'Like a Boss,' the Lonely Island In this 'Saturday Night Live' digital short, Andy Samberg is asked in a job performance review by Seth Rogen what he does in the office all day. Samberg recounts a day in the life of "The Bawss," from the mundane to the profane. What begins as a sly send-up of rappers' tendency to proclaim their position at the top of the food chain warps into sordid romantic humiliations and unnatural relations with a giant drug-induced fish. Real-Life Romances On The Big Screen

Real-Life Romances On The Big Screen

from Cinematical on October 15, 2009

It's not that strange for two people who work together to fall in love, but it does seem to happen an awful lot in Hollywood (although to be fair, most of us don't spend our days rolling around half-naked with our co-workers). So even though it might be easy to fall in love at work, it isn't as easy for a couple to stay in love once they're spending every waking moment together -- and the latest celebrity couple who will put my theory to the test is Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (better known as Sookie and Vampire Bill) from HBO's True Blood. The two fell in love (and got engaged) while working on the vampire soap, and now they're heading back to work together in the thriller, Open House. According to IMDB, the story will center on a couple whose marriage is on the rocks, and are trying to offload their palatial home during a weekend 'open house'. But, things start to get a little weird when it turns out one of the potential buyers never left. The film was written by Paquin's brother Andrew (who will be making his directorial debut), and the cast will include Tricia Helfer (BSG), Rachel Blanchard (Spread), and Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker) in unspecified roles while the True Blood stars will play the married couple. Moyer and Paquin aren't the first real-life couple who like to work together, and over the years plenty of Hollywood power couples have tried and failed to translate that relationship onto the big screen. After the jump: some other famous real-life couples on the big screen...Filed under: Thrillers, Deals, Mystery & Suspense, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Lists, Nicole Kidman, Trailers and ClipsContinue reading Real-Life Romances On The Big Screen Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Title: Extract Release Date: September 4th 2009 Director: Mike Judge Screenwriter: Mike Judge Starring: Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, J.K. Simmons, Ben Affleck Genre: Comedy MPAA Rating: R (for language, sexual references and some drug use) Website: http://Extract-the-movie.com Plot Summary: In Extract, writer/director Mike Judge ( Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill ) returns to the fertile territory of the American workplace, rotating his perspective away from the white collar cubicle warriors of Office Space and towards a blue collar boss a small business owner who employs an odd cast of losers, loners and misfits in his flavor extract factory. To the outside eye, Joel Reynold (Jason Bateman) seems to have everything. After all, being the owner of a business he built from the ground up - with its patented brand of culinary extracts - should make the Extract King a happy man. However, if Joel hasn't reached his front door by 8 o'clock, he'll find his wife, Suzie (Kristen Wiig) cinching up her sweatpants and about as interested in him as he is in her mastery of supermarket coupon design. Sexually frustrated, Joel confides in his best pal, Dean (Ben Affleck), a barkeep and soon finds himself wrapped up in a convoluted scheme to make Suzie cheat on him first with a dim-witted gigolo (Dustin Milligan) thereby allowing him to pursue beautiful new employee Cindy (Mila Kunis) with a clear conscience. Unbeknownst to Joel, the object of his affections is a con artist/sociopath - just one step away from having her parole revoked. Meanwhile, Joel and his second-in-command, Brian (J.K. Simmons) have entered negotiations for a buyout of Reynold Extracts by General Mills. All they need to do is keep things tidy, quiet and moving while waiting for the final offer. Of course, this fails to take into account the employees on the factory floor: Step (Clifton Collins, Jr.), a machismo-ridden doofus and self-proclaimed fastest sorter with lofty aspirations of rising to Floor Manager; Rory (T.J. Miller), a goth-rock geek who spends more time passing out flyers for his band than shuffling extract bottles; and Mary (Beth Grant), a fanny-packed, bitter slouch at the end of the assembly line who'd rather fold her arms and shake her head than keep life at Reynold moving along which is exactly what she's doing when a bottleneck occurs on the line, resulting in a chain of accidents that cost poor Step a portion of his manhood. Seeing a big payday, the con-artist temp woos the otherwise-loyal Step, convincing him to sue for millions, engaging bus bench lawyer Joe Adler (KISS's Gene Simmons) to fight for his rights regardless of the fact that doing so will cost Joel the factory. With his dry wit and remarkable ear for character and dialogue, Mike Judge brings his trademark flavor to these seemingly disparate threads, tying them together into an antic comedy about life in the middle.
