DJ Shadow "Six Days (Remix Ft. Mos Def)" vs. D-Code "Annie's Horn" (DJ Hero Expert 5*)

DJ Shadow "Six Days (Remix Ft. Mos Def)" vs. D-Code "Annie's Horn" (DJ Hero Expert 5*)

I did this song because it's just really fun, has an intense rhythm once the song picks up, and LOTS of fast scratching (and not too much unidirectional scratching which I suck at, haha). It's also got a song by D-Code, whose music i've liked for a while since hearing their stuff on the old Adult Swim intro and on In The Groove (especially Determinator, one of my favorite songs for a long time). As for DJ Hero itself, it's an incredibly fun game. It, in my opinion, has the hardest overall collection of on-disc songs for any console rhythm game in the USA. You can't fail out of any of the songs, but because of that, probably around half of the songs in the game are really hard, and some of the latter ones are just downright ridiculous (like Beats and Pieces). Due to this, i'd say just getting 5* on most of the songs is impressive, and an FC on almost any of the songs is downright impressive. Definitely takes a while to get used to, but the complexity of the game (with the effector knob, uni and omnidirectional scratches, spikes, euphoria, red sample note, rewinds, the three buttons, crossfading in general) really makes it fun when you get it down after a bit of practice, because your hands are flying all over the place during some of the harder songs. This was my 4th or so time playing the song, first play of the day. Also, got two more DJ Hero videos coming up after this too, both expert 5* runs edited like this.

For those who don't know, DrumVox or VoxDrums basically means you, yourself are doing both drums and vocals at the same time. I'm hitting the percussion notes on the vocals by just making a loud pah sound into the microphone on each note. This has been a song i've wanted to do a DrumVox FC on for ages, and here it is. Not really much else to say besides that, more DrumVox FC's on the way :D Also, check out http://www.youtube.com/user/tarponsalltheway because he's awesome. The drumset i'm using is a GoodWoods set, a sturdy, quiet, responsive set with great rebound: you can get it at http://www.goodwoodmods.com/ I'm using the Destroyer Pedal in this video, which is great for zero double-hits, it's metal, and it's great for using heel-toe with. You can get it at http://www.rockbandpedal.net/ Also check out http://www.rockbandparts.com - The best product, best warranty, best prices. PERIOD. And yes, I play drums in real life, been playing them on and off for 5 years.

So yeah, this is an atrocious run of the song, but honestly, my best run isn't much better than this at all. This song is beyond ridiculously hard, and while I haven't practiced it that much, I will never, ever FC this song, probably never S it either, no matter how much I practice it. The insane part? People have SS'ed this, like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63nkXagWR5M I mainly put this up just so people could see how insanely difficult the charts get on Drummania (this is on the arcade version), and this is rated a 95 from 1-99 on the difficulty scale, so yes, there are harder songs than this. :X No foot or combo meter because my foot cam battery died out before I made this, and I don't really combo much besides the intro and one part in the middle, so yeah. BTW, thanks for all the concern with the earlier incident, nice to know so many of you were going out of your way to try and notify me :) My stick goes in front of the camera, but if you think about it for a minute, there's literally nowhere else I could place the camera and still get a nearly flat view of the screen. Fraps, Camstudio, Camtasia, Playclaw, and every other screen recording program causes DTXMania to lag heavily, that's why I don't use them. DTXMania eats up a ton of processor speed, so using anything else while i'm playing it drops the FPS down to around 5. More info in a bit. This is a shortened version of the song, I know: it takes out the slow, relaxed part of the song. LTE's one of my favorite bands: LTE is to Dream Theater as Strapping Young Lad is to The Devin Townsend Band, essentially they're both more intense, more technically complex versions of their more known counterparts (Devin just released a new album btw, everyone needs to check it out: he's got three more coming soon too). My stick goes in front of the camera, but if you think about it logically for a minute, there's literally nowhere else I could place the camera and still get a nearly flat view of the screen. This song is a remix of the commercial for Slap Chop. This came about because of a few people, so here's their links/credits: http://www.youtube.com/user/djsteveporter = DJ Steve Porter, creator of the Rap Chop song + video, go watch the video, makes the song even better http://www.youtube.com/user/Billkwando = made the simfile, this guy makes awesome DTXMania files http://www.youtube.com/user/Vinceslapchop = original commercial Some additional notes: READ THE BEGINNING ANNOTATION please I don't use screen capture software because camstudio, camtasia, fraps, and playclaw all slow down drummania to like 5 FPS when i'm recording with them, even at lowest settings and resolution :X There needs to be a Billy Mays remix to go along with this. Yeah, the red and purple notes are hard to see, but this will be fixed on all future videos (or at least it should be) I tried putting the chart on the left but it looked really awkward so yeah. This is not on the arcade, it's a usermade file for DTXMania by billkwando SS ranking = Full Combo + 93% or more Perfects i believe, only Perfects and Greats More Drummania, Rock Band and Guitar Hero videos are coming, i'm not going to exclusively do Drummania videos or anything. If you're interested in joining this game, go to http://www.jamlegend.com/refer/li/78935 and then just click sign up in the upper right corner. Also, there's forums at http://www.jamsource.co.cc Basically, this is an online flash game called JamLegend that has a ton of songs in all genres, most of them user-submitted (and they're actually very fun/difficult in many cases, not poorly produced at all). There's two modes: guitar strum (which you play by hitting enter to strum or using your guitar hero/rock band controller), and guitar tap, which is what i'm doing here, where you just have to hit the number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) to hit the note. I'm in a clan on the site, although it's a much more laid back process than most clans you find in video games: that's why it says ALT.Azurite on the bottom right of the video, as ALT is the clan. Hopefully, me and a few others have been pushing to get JamLegend to get support for drums as well, and i'll be doing charting for some of the songs if they go for it. I know the hands view is kind of poor, but there's nowhere else for me to aim it: I can't get a direct overhead view because my chair's in the way. Drummania videos are being made, will be up within a day or so: Rock Band videos are coming as soon as I get my friend's 360 over to my house within the next week or so. (and yes that includes mayhem pack)

This is me and Danny (GuitarHeroPhenom) playing band quickplay on Visions, Expert Guitar/Drums. Danny came down with Jack and Scotty and visited me a month or so ago: we tried to make a ton of videos, but one large issue hampered us. I normally play on -20/-25 lag settings, which, when Danny tried to play on it, it pretty much made him miss nearly everything. So, we altered the lag settings to a point where he and I could play decently, but still not to our full potential: it was better than having one of us almost fail out of a song while the other was fine, though. I know a lot of you are going to ask about the recent Mayhem Pack: I downloaded it and played it on my GH:WT kit and pedal, one foot/one pedal (as I didn't have access to my RB kit) and passed every song in the pack first try except for the Black Dahlia song, so you can expect videos from me for every song in the pack. =) Something else too: this video debuts a beta version of my new intro for my videos. The next video I put up will actually have sound to play with the intro, instead of it just being silent. Also, I had a contest recently (it wasn't on YouTube): so for the next few videos i'll be linking the accounts/websites of people who won the contest. So, go check out http://www.siliconknights.net :) Oh, and if you want the video to not lag, don't run anything else or move your mouse even. Found out that as long as I didn't move or touch anything, the video actually played perfectly smooth. I don't actually play piano/keyboard in real life, but I did play a game called Beatmania on and off (the 5-key variant) since 1999, as well as years of Stepmania and it's predcessors since around 2000, so that definitely helps here. That's the last of these videos for now: more GH/RB drums vids on the way.

Not that hard of a FC, but I got quite a few requests for me to do this, so here it is. Pretty fun though considering it really uses the 5 pad layout well, has a lot of patterns that you don't normally see in the majority of songs on RB/GH. Not too much basic rock-beat type stuff in this song. Oh, and if you want the video to not lag, don't run anything else or move your mouse even. Almost 5 stars, but I don't think it's possible to get 5 stars on this with one foot unless you nail literally everything outside of the double bass rush parts. Passed this sightread with 770K the day the game came out, as far as I know I was the first to pass on expert+ with one foot (and in general). This is my third full run of the song, never took the song into practice or anything like that so a few of the fills i'm kinda ehh on but otherwise a solid run IMO. Literally one of the only songs that makes me sweat when I play expert drums (the other two are War Ensemble and Dyer's Eve Expert ), you need some stamina for this. Yeah, that's the stock WT pedal (it's actually broken at the hinge: it's only held together by tape). I'm not using two pedals because i've yet to get a second pedal that works (as in, they didn't work out of the box), although that's going to be remedied shortly. for the time being though, expect a lot more Expert videos with one foot, one pedal coming up. Run to the Hills: Real Drums (READ THE INFO)

Run to the Hills: Real Drums (READ THE INFO)

from Favorites of theunforgiving on May 13, 2008

EDIT: If you look in the window, it is NOT a person: I have no idea how any of you could possibly see the plant right outside my window, in my backyard, which is closed off by a fence, as a person. I mean, don't you think i'd notice them in the window? :P The reason it's blowing around is because of the wind. Also, people have been accusing me of speeding this up. Think about how hard it would be to play a song slower than usual, and then speed it up, and have everything match up with the song: not to mention, the pitch of everything would be much higher in real life had i sped it up, not to mention obvious things such as my movements, etc. This video is not sped up, and it's kind of silly to think that I would actually resort to something like that in any of my videos. ========================= So, here it is. An actual Rock Band song, translated to drums, so to speak. The beginning is off time for some reason, but it syncs up soon thereafter. I screw up a few times, due to lack of practicing it on real drums: parts like where the red notes suddenly go from the hi-hat to the toms are a bit hard to time. Also, i took liberties on some parts of the song: I don't have two crash cymbals, so I had to hit the same one for when the blue and green are supposed to be seperate crashes, as well as hitting the snare during the 4x red, 4x yellow, 4x blue etc. rolls instead of a fourth tom which isn't on my set. The way I set this up was to let the song play out on practice mode, not hitting anything, and muting the drums in the options. (That's why the notechart shows me missing all the notes.) Then, i just spliced the audio together. I notice it's kind of hard to hear the bass pedal: however if you look at my leg, and the reflection of my foot on the floor tom, you can clearly see it going to the beat and hitting the pedal when it's supposed to; even if you can't hear it. Yes, the cymbals need to be loosened, however, the set was used when we bought it: the previous owners did not take care of it, and thus if you loosen it, sometimes the entire cymbal pops off. this is also why the drumset sounds like crap. The china cymbal was broken because of a neighbor abusing the set. The hi-hat pedal is also broken, which is why I can't lift it up to do the final hit on the patterns in the intro to the song. To contact me for whatever reason, E-mail me at azuritereactiondrums@yahoo.com since I don't read my youtube messages for the most part.
