Virtual companies still need to meet in corporate events, business units, senior teams for strategy, communicating vision building, managing change and forming corporate tribes. Client events and in-house conferences, workshops and seminars. Combined with client events and client meetings. Focussed, efficient business meetings. Need for variety and high standards unusual corporate venues eg cruise ships, discovery programmes linked to non-profit organisations. From : TheMainstreamMedia - recent posts - blip.tv (beta)
One Of The World's Most Recognizable Aircraft Plays In The Skies Above Oshkosh At the recently concluded Oshkosh 2008 aerial extravaganza, ANN and Aero-TV, yet again, got to play with the Goodyear Blimp. We admit it... we love the big monster gas bag and we thought an update and additional look at this amazing and gentle flyer was worth a second look from Aero-TV. For 80 years, Goodyear tells ANN that their 'blimps have adorned the skies as very visible corporate symbols of the tire and rubber company that began operations in 1898.' Today, these graceful giants travel more than 100,000 miles across the United States per year as Goodyear's "Aerial Ambassadors." The blimp tradition began in 1925 when Goodyear built its first helium-filled public relations airship, the Pilgrim. The tire company painted its name on the side and began barnstorming the United States. Humble beginnings to an illustrious history. Over the years, Goodyear built more than 300 airships, more than any other company in the world. Akron, Ohio, the company's world headquarters, was the center of blimp manufacturing for several decades. During World War II many of the Goodyear-built airships provided the U.S. Navy with a unique aerial surveillance capability. Often used as convoy escorts, the blimps were able to look down on the ocean surface and spot a rising submarine and radio its position to the convoy's surface ships... in essence acting as an early warning system. Modern surveillance technology eventually eclipsed the advantages of the airship fleet, and in 1962 the Navy discontinued the program. Today, The Goodyear Tire the Spirit of America, based in Carson, California; and the Spirit of Innovation, in Pompano Beach, Florida. From : TheMainstreamMedia - recent posts - blip.tv (beta)
A Vital Topic... Deserving Of NASA's Attention (and YOURS) Late last year, ANN's Aero-TV crews spied a truly marvelous piece of flight simulation technology... NASA Glenn's icing flight training simulator. Demonstrated at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), we were incredibly impressed at the apparent accuracy of the model (ANN's Jim Campbell has plenty of Twin Otter time -- the aircraft used in the icing encounter sim model -- and knows only too well that the icing behavior they displayed is what he has experienced, personally, in real icing conditions). The high-fidelity simulation model for icing effects flight training was developed from wind tunnel data for the DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft. First, a flight model of the un-iced airplane was developed and then modifications were generated to model the icing conditions. The models were validated against data records from the NASA Twin Otter Icing Research flight test program with only minimal refinements being required. The goals of this program were to demonstrate the effectiveness of such a simulator for training pilots to recognize and recover from icing situations and to establish a process for modeling icing effects to be used for future training devices. NASA notes that 'Developing flight simulators that incorporate the aerodynamic effects of icing will provide a critical element in pilot training programs by giving pilots a pre-exposure of icing-related hazards, such as ice-contaminated roll upset or tailplane stall. Integrating these effects into training flight simulators will provide an accurate representation of scenarios to develop pilot skills in unusual attitudes and loss-of-control events that may result from airframe icing.' ANN first saw this technology demonstrated at I/ITSEC, an organization that promotes cooperation among the Armed Services, Industry, Academia and various Government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs, identification of common training issues and development of multiservice programs. The 2008 rendition of this event comes this December 1-4, 2008. From : TheMainstreamMedia - recent posts - blip.tv (beta)
Cautious Optimism Remains The Watchword For A Show Almost As Popular As 2007's This is Aero-TV's final daily update from the floor of the National Business Aviation Association's 61st Annual Meeting & Convention. Among the highlights Tuesday, Jim Bass, President of Piper Aircraft announced that, against declining industry-wide sales of piston aircraft, Piper's piston sales are up this year. We caught up with Nicolas Chabbert from EADS Socata for an update... including word on the company's next aircraft project. Hawker Beechcraft announced its own foray into a new market... with a $200 million order from its dealership in Brazil, the backyard of rival Embraer... Monday's Very Light Jet forum got a status report on the segment from four manufacturers in varying stages of VLJ development. Training and electronics leader Jeppesen signed the first of what might lead to many agreements with French planemaker Dassault Falcon, to distribute the Jeppesen's electronic flight bag software to Falcon jet customers One company making headlines on a variety of topics at NBAA is Cessna... but the company's news wasn't confined solely to its new Columbus jet. CEO Jack Pelton filled us on what else is happening at Cessna. Sunday morning Jack Pelton had an update on Cessna's 2008 details for Aero-TV. Monday afternoon Harrison Ford was on hand to participate in the announcement of the Cessna Citation Special Olympics Airlift. And finally... not all the activity on the show floor at NBAA 2008 had to do with flashy business aircraft and new gadgets. Aero-TV had the chance to speak with Amanda Wright Lane, the great-grand-niece of aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright... in front of the newest flying replica of an original 1910 Wright Model "B". Some might call this the first business aircraft... This wraps up our Aero-TV coverage of the NBAA 2008 Convention. From : TheMainstreamMedia - recent posts - blip.tv (beta)
The G1000 And PW's Finest Make This An Exceptional Way To Travel It would be hard to improve on a such an impressive performer as the TBM 850 single-engine turboprop... but that said, if there was one area the previous generation aircraft came up lacking, it was in cockpit integration. That concern has been nicely addressed by EADS Socata for 2008, with a simple one-word explanation: Garmin. After working our way on a warm day at 308-310 kts at FL260, with th best of Garmin keeping things VERY manageable, we have to tell you that the TBM 850 has it RIGHT. Upgrades to the latest TBM 850 variant includes its Integrated All-Glass Flight Deck, based on the last-generation Garmin G1000 system -- which replaces traditional instruments with large liquid crystal display (LCD) screens. It integrates primary flight, navigation, weather, traffic, ground proximity and technical information on the aircraft, fully associated with a digital autopilot. This reduces pilot workload and eases maintenance, and brings the TBM 850 truly into the realm of the world s most advanced light business aircraft. In addition, the TBM 850 s environmental and vapor control system has been replaced by the Global Air Control System, which is more efficient and offers a dual zone temperature control. EADS Socata also made some oft-requested improvements to the TBM 850's cabin. The aircraft s interior has been entirely redesigned to offer more space and comfort, with a two-inch width increase and a one-inch ceiling rise. The changes also serve to reduce airframe weight, increasing the TBM 850 s useful load by 110 lbs. Fuel tank capacity is boosted by 11 gallons, benefiting from a transfer in the fuel cap position. Maximum range increases from 1,330 nm to 1,410 nm at the maximum recommended cruise of 320 knots. Developed in response to customer feedback, the TBM 850 s 2008 model has already achieved success in the market. Introduced to EADS Socata s most faithful customers during the past several months, it has received a warm welcome -- and the 60 aircraft allocated for production in 2008 already have been sold. The new G1000-equipped TBM 850 is the result of our attention to customers. explained Nicolas Chabbert, EADS Socata Vice President, and the head of Sales Thanks to our sales success, we can now accept orders for deliveries mid-2009.
