During an April 4th, 1999 performance at the Mat Bevel Institute in Tucson, Arizona--a performance that also featured Steve Lacy--Rudd's solo was interrupted by a passing train. If you listen carefully, you can hear the train in the distance. Rudd's response is one of my favorite moments in live jazz. (Also: I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Lacy on this wonderful night.)
