Tent City - Climate Refugees

Tent City - Climate Refugees

from recent posts tagged todd - blip.tv (beta) on August 18, 2009
Duration: 173
Climate change is forcing people to leave their homes, and even their entire country. Yet climate refugees might not even be included in the international climate agreement being developed for Copenhagen. At last week's Bonn III negotiations (climate geek for getting-closer-to-Copenhagen), the one line of text that referred to climate refugees was bracketed. The United States would rather not use the word 'refugees', fearing its strong implications, and instead use the word migrants. Why? Because a 'migrant' is someone who decides to move.

In a street party outside his house - complete with party hats, noisemakers, and music - cardboard cut-out Obama received his birthday gift with a smile. He even blew out all the candles on his special Copenhagen-themed birthday danishes in one breath! (He wished for a strong and binding global climate treaty.)

Stoppez ce Choc des Civilisations!

Stoppez ce Choc des Civilisations!

from Favorites of aishamedia on March 06, 2007
Duration: 150
