Atmospheric Rayleigh scattering in 3D with Unity 3D : The blue color of the sky is caused by the scattering of sunlight off the molecules of the atmosphere. This scattering, called Rayleigh scattering, is more effective at short wavelengths (the blue end of the visible spectrum). Therefore the light scattered down to the earth at a large angle with respect to the direction of the sun's light is predominantly in the blue end of the spectrum.

The first of a number of experimental / dramatic films we'll be screening by the UK's Hum-Drum Films (Finn Riley, Miles Watts and Ryan de Koning), Time Is Lost is a simple and very effective piece, sometimes a music video and sometimes an experimental film, full of calm with a slightly disquieting atmosphere that runs throughout the work of the Hum-Drum team.

Special effect artist Conrad Brink has worked on the show Fringe and numerous films such as I am Legend, Indiana Jones and Cloverfield to name a few. On this premiere episode of BFX's Hollywood FX, Erik visits Conrad in his workshop to see how he created some of the atmospheric effects for these productions. Erik also gets to hear this professional's feedback for some of atmospheric builds in BFX's past.
