Amnesty a eu la chance de rencontrer Eric Ledune, réalisateur de Do-it-yourself. Ce film d’animation illustre parfaitement la manipulation et la torture, remises au goût du jour à l'heure de la guerre contre le terrorisme et d'un Jack Bauer, ce nouvel héros prêt à torturer pour notre sécurité... Inspiré d'un ancien manuel de la CIA, ce film montre, à travers un style recette de cuisine , ce qui arrive lorsque que l'on traite l'être humain comme un objet ou comme un ingrédient à cuisiner . Impressionnant, surprenant, choquant même, sans jamais pourtant montrer aucune scène réelle de torture, ce film est un coup de gueule d’Eric Ledune pour qui « … il semble évident que nous vivons une période où nos démocraties tendent à perdre la tête ….et cela est justifié le plus naturellement du monde par une peur de l’Autre savamment entretenue… ». En ce jour d’anniversaire d’Aung San Suu Kyi, Prix Nobel de la Paix 1991, Amnesty International a l’honneur de s’associer à Jane Birkin pour présenter la chanson qu’elle a écrite pour elle. Depuis sa rencontre avec Aung San Suu Kyi il y a une dizaine d’années, Jane Birkin soutient inlassablement le peuple birman. Cette chanson émouvante et militante est une plaidoirie pour le combat que mène Aung San Suu Kyi pour la démocratie au Myanmar (ex-Birmanie). Indignée par la répression des moines et de la population birmane à l’automne 2007, Jane Birkin a écrit cette chanson et l’a interprétée depuis sur les scènes du monde entier. The short for "Amnesty International" has been linked to by dozens of sites, news portals and blogs. In the online gay world, it secured a front-page report which caused a surge in visits to the spot posted on YouTube. From chueca.com (a gay portal), there have been tens of thousands of visitors among the Spanish gay community, enjoying the most rights in the world. As at March 2008, the video has been viewed over 73,000 times. "Amnesty International" and the Publicis group also sent an e-mail with the TV spot attached to a database of over 56,000 e-mail addresses, thus setting in motion the whole viral mechanism around the initiative. The male gaze certainly represents a problem to many. In some cultures this is solved by making women wear a burqa. In other cultures, even women develop yet stranger gazes on men, cultivating oblique standard operating procedure(s).
