From Sugar Cane To Rum HD

From Sugar Cane To Rum HD

from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on September 16, 2009
Duration: 140
Ever wondered how rum is made? Here, Alun Hill shows the collection of the sugar cane (amazing machines!), the crushing of the cane to produce of the molasses (by a very old steam engine!) and the distillation of the finished rum. No camera men were hurt in the production of this film - but I got a bit worried as the cane cropping machines came just a bit too close - closer then they'd promised! I was relieved when they did a very sudden "about turn" - but then hit the overhead power lines - see if you can spot it! They later promised they could see me safely - phew! Enjoy!

"Look After Your Wife" by Lord Cut Glass

"Look After Your Wife" by Lord Cut Glass

from Favorites of MusicTuesday on June 02, 2009
Duration: 206
A surreal visual accompaniment for the first brisk ditty to issue from the creative wellspring that is Lord Cut Glass. Entitled Look After Your Wife , it proffers a timely exhortation to all those roguish blackguards and philandering adulterers out there - for you are legion! - to keep your inconsiderate whims in check and demonstrate greater chivalry and benevolence towards your beleaguered spouse. Those of you troubled by the familiarity of His Lordship's sonorous tones would do well to recollect his (more common!) identity in the days prior to his ascension to the Upper House: Alun Woodward Esq., singer of songs with that rather quaint troupe of Caledonian minstrels - The Delgados. One must also graciously acknowledge the creative labours of Mr. Tobias Feltus in bringing this kaleidoscope of stereographic wonderment to life. His painstaking efforts consumed not only time, but several guineas worth of midnight oil - not to mention the taxing effects such dextrous creativity can have on one's eyesight. Bravo Mr. Feltus! The assiduousness of our applause can be heard from Holland Park to Spitalfields! 'Lord Cut Glass' is out on June 22nd through the esteemed (if somewhat Northerly) Chemikal Underground Recording Company. Those willing to risk involuntary terpsichorean excess by procuring His Lordship's catalogue should investigate the link below... http://shop.chemikal.co.uk/acatalog/CHEM118.html

JJ Charlesworth: Art & ... symposium, ICA, London

from James Kalm Report on June 24, 2008
Duration: 1668
Art & politics & fiction & sex & death & aesthetics & reading & psychobiography & dialectics & philosophy & horror & sleeping & reading & music & intensity & jouissance &... 8 speakers negotiate diverse positions mapping the radical terrain of the ampersand http://www.ica.org.uk/ JJ CHARLESWORTH - http://www.jjcharlesworth.com/ is a critic and Reviews Editor, ArtReview. Nothing is Never Autonomous. If dialectics isn't a play of opposites, but a way into the multiple realities that make up a thing or a phenomenon, how might art be understood as a meeting place for many possible contradictions, instead of just a few? What if autonomous art was art both at its least and most free? Symposium convened by John Russell & Alun Rowlands, Department of Fine Art, University of Reading.

James Kalm investigates a strange collection of scientific artifacts designed, fabricated and displayed in Plexiglas cases by the prolific, Steve Brower. Brower Propulsion Laboratory provokes more questions about the authentic and its relation to art than it answers, blurring the lines between genuine scientific research and the post-Duchampian challenge to beauty and the art object. Featuring an interview with Alun Williams proprietor of Parker s Box.
