General Motors (GM) has announced plans are underway for a $359 million plant that will build four-cylinder engines for the Chevy Volt electric car and other models. The Flint, MI plant will provide 300 jobs, and is expected to produce more than 800 engines a day.

On September 16, 2008 GM entered its second century of manufacturing vehicles. The all-electric Chevrolet Volt will be GM's shining star for the future.
