Who has what it takes to become the footwear industry s next up-and-coming designer? Footwear News s accessories design seniors after a rigorous judging process by the FN staff. Over the next 6 months, the 7 finalists compete against each other in a series of 6 challenges testing their ability to create innovative designs that will keep them in the running to win the 08 Shoe Star title. A panel of industry professionals, including FN s editorial director Michael Atmore, Nine West s creative director Fred Allard, FIT s professor and chairperson of the accessories design program Ellen Goldstein and a rotating list of celebrity judges, will critique each challenge, eliminating one contestant each round until the winner is announced at the Fashion Footwear Association of New York s tradeshow in June. In addition to the 08 Shoe Star title, the winner will gain a spot on the Nine West design team to work on the spring 09 footwear, handbags and accessories collections. As the contest progresses, FN will be documenting it online and in print, while Ninewest.com will feature video highlights from each week s judging round. These 7 student designers have secured a place in the competition, but only one of them will become the next Shoe Star.

Réalisé lors du 4ème Festival de Films de Portneuf sur l’Environnement de Saint-Casimire, avril 2007 (kabaret Kinö) En début de Kabaret, Geneviève et moi n’avions pas l’idée précise du scénario, que des lignes directrices. On voullait se laisser inspirer par le moment, mais nous avoins fait un brainstorm avant l’événement pour sortir nos idées afin de débuter le film. Place à l’improvisation ! On a recyclé du matériel informatique désuet qu’on avait amassé avant. Sur une musique rythmée mixée par Maxime Robin c’est un film contemplatif j’imagine, comme souvent dans nos animation. On s’est amusé avec le mouvement et le temps encore une fois. La chimie a fait son oeuvre et on a fait une super équipe ! Mélanie

In the 1950s, Watkins Glen was a regular stop on the US GP circuit. The Allards are well-known to sports car racing aficionados in the region. Today, every second weekend in September, the town of Watkins Glen hosts one of the most exciting vintage race car festivals on the Continent. Not only is there all-out vintage racing for every class of legendary cars, but festivities in Watkins Glen include a reenactment of the 1950's race on the original 6.5-mile road course. The entire circuit is lined with hundreds of fans who are priviledged to see rare and exotic vintage race cars, including of course, Allards, Jags, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Alfas, Listers, Cunninghams, MGs, Healeys, to name but a few. The festivities also includes rallyes, touring, car shows and a concours d'elegance. Allard Motor Works hopes to wet your appetite and have you visit Watkins Glen's US Zippo Vintage Grand Prix.
