WaaterproOf and ZjAk - One hour Mix 100% Poly-Rythmo (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-08-31 SPECIAL PARIS DJS MIX number 200 !! ONE HOUR LONG !!! The Tout Puissant Orchestre de Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou Benin will be playing tomorrow night at the Jazz A La Villette festival along with Amadou and Mariam (featuring guests Romeo and Michele Stodart from The Magic Numbers), Seun Kuti and DJ RKK (Radio Nova) - don't miss this show!! Anyone deeply into old school African music must have already stumbled upon the Jam Magica blog and its growing index of the Orchestre de Poly-Rythmo complete discography. I go there every month at least, and when I saw that Afrofunk collector ZjAk with the help of his friend WaaterproOf had done a one hour Poly-Rythmo mix for Radio Grenouille in Marseilles, I asked them to send us a high-quality version for us to podcast on Paris DJs, the day right before the Paris show. They even re-recorded the mix to insure the best possible quality. It's all rare dusty 45s and old LPs selected and mixed with love, and remastered with care by Grant Phabao of course. Enjoy! Loik - Afro Diggin'

Loik - Afro Diggin'

from Paris DJs Podcast on July 02, 2009
Duration: 1903
Loik - Afro Diggin' (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) Kraked, 2009-07-02 Africa is a wonderful song from Bob Pinodo, famous for bringing the gospel vibes to Ghana, a must in soulful breakbeat Afro vibes. Osima - Waouh!! This is pure delight from Rex lawson, one of the fathers of Highlife, an instant classic to my ears, with amazing classy drumming and a haunting melody, this is a masterpiece no less! Ise Owo is Apala Soul and I want more!! A dancefloor bomb from the master of nigerian saxophone, Orlando Julius. You Are The One is a special crossover of Soul, Disco, Latin and Afrobeat with a strong statement. It could be an anthem on any afrogroovy dancefloor. Deep & catchy music from Tony Grey. I fell in love with Show Me Your Love by the Opamanbuo International Band Of Ghana. With its haunting guitar licks and irresistible voice, it throws my blues away and makes me feel good. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do. All those are really rare records coming straight from Africa, so clicks and background noise are numerous, even with all the love we gave them. But all those songs need to be rediscovered, and often vinyl is the only testimony left. So let's hope you'll enjoy the ride - and don't worry there are more to come... (Loik) Tracklisting : 01. Bob Pinodo - Africa (from 'Show master of africa' LP, 1978 / Essiebons) GHANA 02. Rex Lawson - Osima (from 'The Highlife King in London' LP, 197? / Phonodisk) NIGERIA 03.
