When Randy lost his mother, he was lost. His grandmother wanted to help him find his way but she was struggling. She was worried she'd have to place him in foster care, then she found Edgewood. EDGEWOOD KINSHIP When crisis, substance abuse, mental illness, incarceration, economic hardship, divorce, domestic violence, or other challenges take parents from a child, other family members often step up to fill the gap. Edgewood Kinship Support Services Network (Edgewood Kinship) supports these courageous and caring grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings. Edgewood believes that children should first be supported in the homes of relatives and remain in their communities. Research shows it is better for the child, and it is also a less expensive alternative to traditional foster care. Yet, few resources exist for kinship caregivers. Edgewood Kinship was created in 1993 to fill the gaps in public social services available to relative caregivers. Then, it was the first program of its kind. Today, Edgewood s innovative program is a model for similar programs across the U.S. Relative caregivers often have special needs linked to age, poverty, poor health, social isolation, and inadequate access to information and services. Edgewood Kinship addresses the unique needs of each caregiver and child by providing referrals to basic services, support from others who ve been there, and a break from daily stresses. This sermon by Pastor Nelson Turner of www.AV1611Reformation.con was preached on the Lord's day September 27, 2009 from the inspired word of God in the English language, the AV1611 King James Bible. This sermon addresses biblical proof for the so called "Doctrines of Grace" which have come to be associated with John Calvin, but, as Pastor Turner proves, are clearly manifested in the word of God as found in Holy Scripture. Of greatest importance in properly apprehending the doctrines of grace is realization that firstly that God's foreknowledge relates to His knowledge of what He will do and the means wherby He'll do it, NOT foreknowledge of what any human or humanity will do. "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world." (Acts 15:18); and secondly that God does NOT predestinate our sins. God is NOT the author of sin. The "Doctrines of Grace" are entirely consistent with the word of God as found everywhere in the Bible. The dilution of these doctrines in the heresies encompassed by Arminianism necessarily results in inconsistencies with Holy Scripture such as universalism, and God's action being contingent in some way upon man's will and cooperation.
