Daphne Unbound (clip)

Daphne Unbound (clip)

from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) on November 25, 2009
Duration: 253
This is a clip from Daphne Unbound, a modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Daphne. In the original story, the beautiful Daphne catches the eye of Apollo, who takes flight after her. Unable to outrun the god, Daphne invokes her father, the river god, and he turns her into a laurel so that no man can ever have her. My version of the story instead has Daphne overcome the forces that bind her and she is able to escape the patriarchal influence.

According to Pieter van Eijk, African leaders should call for reduced emissions of carbon from developed countries that are responsible for a signifcant part. These can implement climate change adaptation measures and are done in a sustainable way and take into account ecosystem services. Wetlands International is trying to restore peatlands on one hand, on the other hand they work on advising on climate change adaptation strategies. "We want to demonstrate practical approaches for accomplishing climate change adaptation through the restoration of ecosystems."
