Once in awhile, you come across a band that makes you go..."wow, thats different!". Digging Roots is just that kind of a band. What makes them different is the song writing of Raven Kanatakta and Shoshona Kish, and their combined vocals. Raven, a accomplished acoustic guitarist has a stage presence that is mesmerizing. Shoshona's smooth sultry voice just simply draw you into their world. The group has also managed to blend a wide variety of contemporary styles together which include folk, blues, reggae, and hip hop. Definitely a "not to miss" group. If you are anywhere in canada, you will find these folks playing somewhere. This video performance was recorded at a blues club in down town Winnipeg, Manitoba province Canada. It was during the Manitou Ahbee aboriginal music festival. It was an outstanding event! Music direction for all of the music venues was organized by none other than Vince Fontaine of Canadian Rock favorites "Eagle & Hawk" Digging Roots recent release "Seeds" is a sure fire hit!

Welcome to episode 33 of INDIGENOUS PEOPLES MUSIC. Today, Tonight, or just when ever you download this podcast, it is really a light free for all format. I am testing my New Mac Mini that I bought with tax return money (YEAH!!!!) Please write to me and tell me what you think of the quality of this episode. One thing that I did notice right off the bat that surprised me.....there does not seem to be native support for the MP3 format from within Garage Band. If anyone knows how to export directly from Garage band into the MP3 format, I iwll give you a whole dollar, and you will be my friend for life! FROM THE BANDS WEBSITE: Through blending their vision and musical talent, Eagle Schemitzun, while the other two performances were at Foxwoods Resort casino....the largest casino property in the world. The performances at Foxwoods helped draw the band some interest. I am STILL getting emails and calls as to how people can buy their music and see the band perform. I hope to bring them back here to the states again for more performances. Stay tuned as the summer calendar shapes up for Indigenous Peoples Music! -Michael Kickingbear Bands Website: http://www.eagleandhawk.com/ Indigenous Peoples Music website: http://www.native-music-podcast.com Directly Download This Video: http://media.libsyn.com/media/indigenouspeoples/EAGLE_AND_HAWK.mpg Indigenous Peoples Music Blog: http://ipm.typepad.com/indigenous_peoples_music/ Listener Comment Line: 1-866-735-0611 (Toll Free from Anywhere!)
