Tammy Wynette, otherwise known as The First Lady of Country Music, is one of the genre s most celebrated and influential artists. Throughout the late 1960s and 70s, Wynette reigned supreme on the country charts and celebrated 20 #1 hits. Born Virginia Wynette Pugh, Wynette s career began in 1965 when she started performing live regionally, eventually making some appearances with Porter Wagoner. A single mother of three, she moved to Nashville and signed with Epic Records in 1966, changed her name, and the rest, as they say, is history. This collection of rare performances includes footage captured on film and video between 1967 and 1980. Extras on the DVD include an interview with Tammy Wynette, footage of Wynette and George Richey s wedding, as well as her Country Music Hall of Fame induction.

I wonder where Austin Powers got his inspiration from? The Troggs formed in 1964 and were signed by the manager of The Kinks, Larry Page in 1965. Their most famous hit was the single "Wild Thing" (written by Chip Taylor), which with the help of television exposure on Thank Your Lucky Stars reached number 2 in the UK and number 1 in the United States in June 1966. Its combination of a simple heavy guitar riff and flirtatious lyrics helped it to quickly become a garage rock standard. It was recorded in one complete take (take two) at Olympic Studios in London, with Keith Grant engineering. The band's success in the US was also limited by not touring there until 1968. "You Really Got Me" is a rock song written by Ray Davies and performed by his band, The Kinks. It was released as the group's third single, in August 1964, and reached Number 1 on the UK singles chart the following month, staying there for two weeks. It was the group's breakthrough hit, and established them as one of the top British Invasion acts in the United States, reaching Number 7 there later in the year. It was later included on the Kinks' debut album, The Kinks. "You Really Got Me" was the first hit song built around power chords (parallel 5ths and octaves), and was heavily influential on later rock and roll musicians, particularly in the heavy metal genre. One critic wrote that it is, "the track which invented heavy metal" while critic Denise Sullivan of Allmusic writes, "'You Really Got Me' remains a blueprint song in the hard rock and heavy metal arsenal."
