Tributo Freddie Mercury En la Inglaterra de finales de los 60, Beatles y Rolling Stones seguían siendo los amos del cotarro, pero ya empezaban a sonar grupos con sonidos apartados del beat o del rock and roll más standard (Pink Floyd, Status Quo...). Precisamente, en una de las actuaciones de Pink Floyd en 1968 en el Imperial College de Londres, fueron teloneados por un grupo llamado Smile, formado por estudiantes de aquel centro. Los músicos/estudiantes en cuestión eran un tal Brian May (guitarra), Tim Staffel (bajo y voz) y Roger Taylor (batería). A partir de ahí, Smile consiguió una cierta popularidad entre el público universitario, hasta que un día alguien se fijó en ellos y los fichó para grabar un single que, por cierto, sólo salió en Estados Unidos, cosas de la industria de aquella época. Ni que decir tiene que no tuvo ninguna repercusión, al menos donde a ellos les interesaba que era en su propio país, de manera que Tim Staffel se hartó y dejó el grupo en 1970. Para sustituirle pensaron en un conocido de Roger Taylor, un cliente asiduo de la tienda de ropa en la que trabajaba y alguien que frecuentaba las actuaciones de Smile, se llamaba Farookh Bulsara pero todos le llamaban Freddie. Era una persona bastante introvertida, pero que siempre tuvo la idea de montar un grupo de rock en el cual el aspecto visual tuviera gran importancia, algo así como un espectáculo musical con base de rock potente, tipo Led Zeppelin o Jimi Hendrix, que diera forma a algo bastante alejado de la idea clásica de los Beatles. El primer paso fue cambiarle el nombre al grupo, que pasó a llamarse Queen, y después hubo que buscar un nuevo bajista. Tras un año probando con diferentes músicos, al final se les unió definitivamente John Deacon a mediados de 1971. YouTube has finally made their in-page viewer to a widescreen format. Pros: Native 16:9 videos are now HUGE and un-letterboxed, and look great. Cons: All existing 4:3 videos, including widescreen videos that were letterboxed by the video uploader - now have black pillar bars on the side.
