378,491 Views - LOS ANGELES. Greenhouse Effect have come roaring back in 2008 and 2009 to crushing views and downloads on the internet, Top chart success at Myspace and Youtube, "Other countries" explosive plays of their Mega Hit single BRANDY, A 1000 $ Dollar payday "side stage" offer to play California's Coachella Festival, and top rotation at JANGO RADIO ! NEEDLESS TO SAY, its been quite a year for the pinnacle three piece 'trio' band that "Started it all". "We are and were THE musical revolution of the 1980's and 90's" says Clark Hagins in November 2009. "With so many people now knowing about me and my music, learning about Phil Keegan, and Great People Like Jeff Snow at Rock City Productions in Massachusetts,..and so curious about all of our web tactics and Jango Radio,....its great,...we have everything in place EXCEPT for the major airplay at FM RADIO in America,.....AND we'll get THAT next" says Hagins. Hagins gushes about a hopeful upcoming "reality show" about him and his music plus his swimming pool cleaning possibly on Halogen Tv airing in 2010. "My surfer nephew has a show called "Wave Hunters" that is gunning onto airplay with Halogen,..there may just be a G.e. thing in the works soon,..although millions of people have seen me so much,....I'm alot like Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters,...theres a hella lotta people that are sick and tired of me,...but fortunately for me,..i got this nerdy Weezer Rivers Cuomo type of thing where G.e. is so "lovable" ,..we're like Woody Allens,..they love us in France and Japan,....We got geekey guys in the band like Ted,....even Palle too,..we are charmers,...I hope people will tune into my tv show soon,..I hope they're not too sick of me and Brandy n all" Hagins speaks fondly of a recent rehearsal where he and new drummer/ Surfer Hagan Kelley rocked in San Diego's North County's Goblen rehearsal studio in Vista Ca. "Its kinda sad because years ago, Goblin burned to the ground and their guy Darren - who is just such a terrific great guy,..he really struggled to get Goblen studios going again so we bands can play there,....We bands NEED a place to play,..to jam,..it means alot to groups that are struggling too these days,...but me and Hagan pulled off a great show,...We did play Brandy pretty tight,....I don't think we were quite ready to play that Coachella thing last summer but Hagan suggested that we just go there and play the whole ENTIRE gig in our underware, smashing all our gear,..and I was like 'but dude,..we don't HAVE any gear,..we would be smashing someone elses' gear (Laughs)" Darren from Goblen often "loans" Hagins and other bands musical gear to jam with for a small fee,...."Maybe if Darren loaned me the absolute crappiest guitar I could smash it at a concert and he might not mind (Laughs) " adds Hagins Hagan Kelley's surf program documents his trips to Mexico and maybe Fiji where he surfs waves, hunts for "Art chicks" and listens to "Gone" old tapes by Greg Ginn from Black Flag. "Hagan's show "Wave Hunters" is gonna be part of Josh Shipp's Jump Shipp I think" says Hagins.... Meanwhile in the U.S. , G.E. continues to rack up astounding numbers in cyberspace as the "World's biggest internet rock band" feeding off their song Brandy mainly and footage of historic G.e. concerts back in the South Bay of Redondo beach California like the Show at the Hermosa Saloon on August 16, 1991 ,..where G.e. appeared to be 'copying' the look, style, sound, and demanor of Seattle band Nirvana - Ofcourse at the time, there was no Huge Nirvana known as their "Smells like teen spirit" video and "Nevermind" album had yet to be released and heard of.." Our band was so innovative" says Hagins "For years , i tried and tried to convince all the major labels to sign us and i begged them that 'grunge' rock was gonna be the next big thing - this is very common knowledge in the South Bay,....everybody THOUGHT that I was crazy and insane,..they said that 'alternative music' was never gonna make it ,..and that it was subject only to the 'bargain bins' at record stores,..well, I fought like hell,..not just for me,..but for ALL EMO BANDS,....WE WANTED TO DESTROY heavy metal and bands like Skid Row and Def Leppard,..it was a tough tall order,....when i suddenly saw Nirvana going off huge,..i was a little stunned,...I mean i was a little happy to see that my ideas could work in the big time of the main stream,...but then I began to get bitter and angry and i wondered how it was,...how was it possible that G.e. of all bands ,..still couldn't get signed,...even with our song BRANDY in 1992,..it really bummed me,..out,..it made me give up and quit ,..by late 92' ,..I was over,..G.E. WAS OVER !! Our bassist Ted had quit and went and joined a punk rock band called the One handed Readers in Redondo,.....me and Palle Carlson tried to keep G.e. alive ,..but then he went back to Denmark,..man,..it was sad,..things were falling apart fast,....then, I saw all those bands like Weezer and Green day in '94,..THATS when i knew it was really over for me,..and i was only 29 ,..back then,..but in those days,..THAT was considered old !! In the South Bay,.... Hagins began the live part of his musical career jamming with bands like Palos Verdes demo project "The Cloud Chamber" before moving on to jam with fellow Redondo guitar rocker Steve "Stevo" Stepanian - where Hagins played drums before jamming with a multitude myriad of different South Bay punk bands, among them B.P.S. (beats per second) and "Outlash Control" before settling in as permenant fill in drummer for the Jim Mellon Quartet and the CVB (Christine Valley Band) with Joe Groovey dude and John Hall from Youngstown Ohio and many drunken nights at the Hermosa Saloon where huge loud blues gigs were often "Led" by Hagins - from the drum kit. "Its funny,..in the South Bay, I had just like this HUGE reputation as a drummer - but NOW most of the world knows me as a guitarist (Laughs)" says Hagins in November 2009. "Brandy" has turned Hagins into an overnight success and more than a household internet word ,..where millions of plays and downloads ,..many often 'originating' in the South Bay before spreading all across the country and the world "My dad was like this heroic school teacher at Palos Verdes High School,..he was Gary Hagins Teacher and his students really loved him and his dark sense of humor,...they rallied around HIM and now today, from all across the United States,..they rally around ME - I AM THE SON OF GARY HAGINS,..SCHOOL TEACHER ,..THATS LIKE BEING THE SON OF JESUS OR WAYNE GRETZKY IN CANADA,....'THATS' HOW MUCH HIS FORMER STUDENTS LOVE MY DAD !!,...I LOVE MY DAD - He's such a great genius thinker,...he writes great books,..he would have been a great blogger in cyberspace,....my dad has cancer right now,..he is very sick,..and 80 years old,....but he is still very sharp of mind,..he recently had a heart attack and stroke,...i will do every thing in my power and all i can to make sure 'all' of my dad's great books get published - I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE GOOD - BUT GOOD IN THAT GRAY AREA WAY - where people don't really understand you,..My dad is GREAT LIKE THAT - HE IS A GENIUS !! I'M GONNA SEE TO IT THAT ALL OF HIS WORKS BECOME FAMOUS AND PUBLISHED !!! Its in our Family DNA to create Great Art.... HAGINS credits many nights of rehearsals and gigs at places like the Hermosa Saloon in giving him the confidence to play rock n roll music..."I was NOT always a nice sweet friendly guy to people,..but i could be very cool and kind too at times if given a chance..,..All that they try to say about me is not true,..its a big misunderstanding usually ,..I was just fighting to get to the top - THE TOP OF ROCK N ROLL AND GRUNGE ALTERNATIVE MUSIC,..Very determined....ITS A BUMMER THAT I COULDN'T have made it and hit the big time back in 1991 or 92" says Hagins "but this is how God wants it,..I'll just have to rock out now - for the world - at age 44,..and I will help bands like the Spongetones and Batlord along the way !! ======================== Hagins says that he "has to blog" and thoroughly enjoys writing - even more than music "Its like sex being a blogger" says Hagins "especially when yer one of the world's most known,..its nice to know that people read my shit" - "My dad was and is a Great writer,...and writing is difficult,..you have to organize and remember a lotta stuff ,..like as if you yourself are a computer,...it takes a ton of patients and passion,...its difficult and tough,..but 'IF' you enjoy it,..THAT makes it all fun and worthwhile,....I just wish I could get paid for this shit (Laughs)...." =================== Hagins says he didn't always get along or have the greatest relationship with his dad "I don't worry about that old shit now to the point of it killing me,...people on youtube come on there and they say nice things and they try to help me,..its been a struggle,..my dad did what he had to do and he was tired from teaching all day,..he still managed to devote time to his Church and his followers,..and i am ONE OF THEM !!...He fed me food,....and he put a roof over my head" =========================== Jango Radio has been quite useful as Hagins manages to get plenty of World-wide Airplay for songs like "Brandy" and the "Black or White" Song along with what Hagins calls "Crucial airplay' for the Phil Keegan guitar era of G.e. "My music is just pop flap,..its three chords with verse chorus verse kinda shit,....but it IS the Phil Keegan on Guitar era of Greenhouse Effect that makes Our band so unique and special,...we were real true warriors ,..standing up for bands like "Book of Talesian" era Deep purple, the Who, and the Yardbirds with keith Relf,..we were real 60's junkies,..THAT is what became grunge with "Precarious" and "Racers" and 'Waiting for your love to fail"...plus Rick Carmodys important 'flannel image',...If i could turn back time,..I wish atleast TWO of our important gigs had been filmed and I had them to document today and that would be this one gig that we played in 1987 at Madame Wongs where me and Ted were all decked out in flannel,..we did it in honor of Neil young and Mike Watt mainly (Laughs),...no,..in 1987,..we weren't doing it for Kurt,..(hisses),...Me and Ted always thought that Nirvana sucked ,..and to a degree I still do,..those guys are fucking Lame - atleast compared to G.e. - but then again,..ALL bands suck ...next to G.e. - except shit like Rush and iron Maiden - THAT SHIT is hella good !! I can't touch THOSE !! ANY BAND after Sept. 24, 1991,..I don't listen to,..maybe Weezer,..and thats all,..the rest of it sucks,...I respect Nirvana for all their luck and timing n all ...and skill - one cannot deny them,...but i don't respect Green Day at all - NOT ONE BIT,...I WOULD SPIT IN THAT GUY'S fucking little face .....

36,942 Views - White Suburban Liar$ (1992) The Rock Opera - Greenhouse Effect SuperNetCelebrities.Com - W.S.L "THE ROCK OPERA' is a 16 Song triumph of pure songwriting from Clark Haggans. Tons of Great songs among them the fabulous Misogynistia, Brandy, and "White Black Thang" !! Having lost the arms race with Hollywood for Grunge Superiority, Greenhouse Effect turned to their love for bands like the Tommy Era of the Who, Captain beyond, and David Bowie as well as the use of the taurian organization skills of Hagins to thoroughly saturate the world internet with the inevitableness of G.e. - Greenhouse Effect music functions as both rock's greatest song achievements as well as rock's most annoying obvious in-your-face pure skill......The relentlessness of the internet and things like Twitter and Jango Radio give G.e. a pure edge in cyberspace that other bands cannot even fathom of scratching. G.e. have the uncanny ability to depress and demoralize. To upset and frustrate their opponents - knowingly or otherwise,....Greenhouse Effect songs are always a triumph of songcraft and their live show video works as watershed break-through material and a uniqueness that can hardly be touched in a 2009 world of boring emo and monotonous hip hop and rap. The standard issue fare of opportunity bands seeking media is simply put on display by Greenhouse Effect's pure righteousness and one-ness in their songs from "Precarious" from the Phil Keegan on guitar era to "Ben is dead" and Clark Haggans.... The Rock Opera White Suburban Liar$ functions as the internet itunes vehicle of the new millineum and it's videos are its lay of trails many with G.e. and their bloggosphere always being the cyberspace ringmaster !!

Hagins dit "mais il n' tait pas destin tre par Dieu, je pense,. . ou quelque chose comme a, .. nous avons tout fait " =================== 333,817 Views - 2009 has been the Most explosive Year yet for LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA GRUNGE ROCK MONSTERS Greenhouse Effect and Phillip Keegan (Dr. Phil) Guitar work. 6 figure video "Views" are the rule of the day always for the Biggest and most seen band on the internet and 2010 shows no sign of let up indeed as the band is blasted constantly in jango and Pandora Internet Radio Rotation and heavily Linked to business and MLM MARKETING Sites via the Zeus Robot and others. "With regular radio fm rock dying and radio stations disappearing daily, its been like a perfect storm, G.e.-mania is just the right fit for music hungry fans who are sick of Green Day and My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters and all that other shit" says Clark Hagins "G.e. provides people all around the world with an alternative to the same old boring shit,...our music is new and it's exciting to people who really dig the Who, The Doors, Bowie, and the Guess Who" says Hagins. Keegan adds; "We keep classic rock alive" Hailing from the "South Bay" area of Redondo Beach / Torrance California (Los Angeles), G.e are an obvious breath of fresh air for a music industry desperate to sell cd's and get downloads. Jango Radio and companys like Somanymp3s.com have turned G.e. into overnight superstars but Hagins says its been four years of really "Hard work" to get G.e. to the very top of music ,...or atleast to the very tops of search engines,..which Hagins states as 'more important"....Singlehandedly, G.e. wipe out bands on major tours, deflate recording industry sales for other artists, and importantly grab and steal internet traffic away from even the biggest MTV SUPERSTARS from Jay Z to Beyonce to even Madonna !! "My dream now is just to play one more show" says Hagins "Ofcourse I would love to arrange a gig with Keegan and Ted (Rick Carmody Bassist),....but the 'second wave' phase of G.e. with Drummers Martin Silva and Greg Tarpley is oh so very important too as well" Hagins sees the laments of other bands from Los Angeles and his old home-town of the South Bay who can only dream of the mega-internet international exposure that Hagins and G.e. have received for some five years in a row "VIRTUALLY EVERYBODY knows almost everything about me and my band, my life...when they aren't reading all my blogs at one place,..they are over at GerocksCom where they read my virtual entire life story and get an inside look at my brain" Greenhouse Effect have spread the word and they blaze a cyberspace trail that other bands could only dream of and with their careful collection of hit songs like "Brandy" and the "White Black Song" constantly playing somewhere at all times, there is almost no chance that you're gonna miss G.e. on the net any time soon. "We are rock superstars" says Hagins "We're funny and we act weird and geekey,..we are extremely humorous but there is also no more serious band than us,...we are pure rock n roll entertainment of the absolute utmost ub-surd,...we make people laugh,..and then we slay them with like these really good little John Lennon David Bowie like Beatles pop songs,..we're really good" says Hagins. The former Soviet Union, Poland, India, and Turkey are some of G.e's biggest audience consumers and Hagins delights in this "To see the fans over seas in all those countries love G.e. and sense our magic and chemistry means the world to me,..I love those people" says Hagins. So will the Greenhouse Effect dawn a 'secret show" at the Hermosa Saloon in the South Bay or somewhere else anytime soon ?? "Don't be surprised if we do,..We all wanna rock,..but we know if we even slightly advertised a gig on like Myspace,..there would probobly be like 2000 people at the gig,...WE ARE THAT BIG NOW,....I would just like it if I could join a tour as an opening act and see what happens" says Hagins. Fielding many emails from old friends back in the South Bay who suddenly respect Hagins as a musician and would like to know if he would like to go out or hang out for a beer is a funny thrill for Hagins "I love the south bay and all the people there,....there has been some bad blood and tension between me and some of them and theres been some family issues concerning me but this is a big business and I have to get on with my life,...I have to find a way to move on,....I have to once again get serious about my music,...if we are really gonna play again,...I have to clear my brain of shit and concentrate like I once could back in 1990 and 89',....I need to play my guitar and write songs and sing again,....and forget the past,...this is a serious business now for me,.. Hagins works as a Swimming Pool cleaner in San Diego's "North County" as Abracadabra Pool and Spa Service where people constantly approach him inquiring about G.e. "Alot of people say that we only have that one good song in Brandy and that all of our other songs aren't very good,..that kinda talk I hear alot and it hurts and bothers me,..because in the early days with Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil) on guitar ,..we were so dynomite with "The Magic Man" and "Number One". "Precarious" takes off on the net as an important early 'grunge rock song' for the tiny three piece G.e. "We were total revolutionarys and Keegan's guitar showed the way for many bands to come and I would tell lawyers and Recording Labels of all of my ideas" says Hagins "Few people believed in me or in us but I kept on going,..all the way til 1992 - when I was 27,...in those days , 27 was considered very rock music "old" indeed !! "All the talk about how G.e. really is the band that started Grunge and all is exciting and impressive but it also can get boring too,....me and Flipper want to get on with a whole new album and a whole new style that has no grunge,..and no flannels either !! " Is Hagins bitter about G.e. never getting their 'time' in the glory days of the early 1990's and MTV ?? "Sure I am,...." says Hagins "but it was not meant to be by God I guess ,..or something like that,..we did all we could" "We're comfortable either way" says the now 44 year old web guru Hagins "Cyberspace is our turf,....We know that no band can beat us here,...we're too original and clever to look at,....the web is where we live"

"Star" was recorded at Accessive Light and Sound Studio in Harbor City California with Recording engineer Andy Houston in January 1991. Like "Coke Snorting" before it , from 1990 with former Guitarist Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil), "Star" is a long drawn out track that is Hagins' Drumming oriented. The whole song developes off the fat kick and snair work as recorded in the studio. Hagins then adds some crunchy guitar riffs that are totally break-through sound ideas for this time era in rock where heavy metal of the Sunset Strip in Hollywood still ruled the day. A little bit influenced by Metallica but also by Rush as well as Arthur Lee and Love plus David Bowie and other "60's" to 80's music. This song was one of the handful of 'early tracks' written down in the basement of 251 in Redondo Beach CA in about September/ October 1990, just after the band and Keegan mutually parted ways. All in all, it was a pop break through "Grunge" idea of high caliber! "Star was a riff that I think I stole from Danzig or some other 80's or 70's punk or metal band" says Clark Hagins "When I first played the guitar part to Carmody (Ted), he was like,..'thats the Clash or like I donno,..maybe Cheaptrick !!" But indeed, this great guitar run is yet another G.e. original as no band or no one has come forward to refute it. "It definitely has a breakdown in it that is obviously similar to Arthur Lee's "Alone again or" says Hagins "Its kinda Spanish flamenco like - NOT" ( Laughs) With the early beginnings of 'Going Legit' Greenhouse Effect set out to make their usual demanding 'Complicated' music with alot of drum activity and over-dubbed guitars and vocals - all mixed with ambiance and psychedelia but straight from a garage - only this time, all the ideas seemed to be functioning at a super high new watershed level - above other bands . "We always wanted to make our music very interesting,..when I played Ted the early idea for "Hey Negrita" he was like - "Oh ,..thats a ripp off of "Like a hurricane' by Neil Young or something off "Everybody knows this is nowhere" or "After the Gold Rush",...."Ofcourse I also wanted to mix in my demented politics" says Hagins. "Star allowed me to do that,..where I could take the place of some dude who was just ragging on EVERYTHING and putting people down,..even being a complete fool and making fun of Rush's Geddy Lee!" Star really has a "South Bay" feel to it (Torrance and Redondo Beach) and it introduces a 'punk rock' edgy vibe to G.e. that has also humor that was missing, lacking in the days of the Keegan era G.e. "Ben is Dead" would be another interesting song from Going Legit where Hagins mixes some Rory Gallagher type guitar with a rip off on Ted Nugent and the Ambuoy Dukes "Journey to the center of your mind" that really works. "We would rework alot of used ideas but we would spin them where you could barely tell" says Hagins.... It was this period, where G.e. had hooked up with two new drummers in first Martin Silva of San Pedro - and then later , Punker Greg Tarpley - and G.e. developed a 'new' quite odd and revolutionary "three piece band" presentation where Clark Hagins was upfront, banging on power chords, emmiting feedback, and hollering his vocals into the microphone with a sudden urgent new reverbed anger. The way that the band dressed was flannels and t-shirts and jeans, pretty much keeping the same G.e. traditions from the Phil Keegan days intact. G.e. , as usual, attracted much Label attention, with "Going Legit" as they had with Keegan before,...and the song "Dead End Street" with it's 'female like sounding lead vocals' grabbed the ear of several A "What is cool is I really AM an old guy now,...I'm 44 years old and people rarely try to diss me anymore,...They shake my hand and they are like "We've seen it now,..dude, you were,..no ,..you "Are' the real deal,bro'...you were the shit,..just exactly as You always said,.... "I would give ANYTHING now ,..just to play music and even be an opening act,...although trully, G.e. is no opening act,...We were there so long ago with all those great songs and ideas that we had,...we had big HUGE ideas ,..for hit singles,..but also for long concept albums like the who Tommy and Quadrophenia,...I feel like I will never get a chance to record them now,...and thats a damn shame,... From 1992 to about 2003, I did very little activity that concerned music ,..when I discovered how to make my song videos ,..it really brought that G.e. magic BACK !!,...AND it didn't take too long, by 2005, we were back on top,...we were the kings again !!"

Ripping Reason from November 1992 and Clark Hagins ; Clark Hagins and Guitarist Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil) look back at their early days as members of what has now become Cyberspace Internet Alternative Rock's Best and most watched and downloaded band world wide in 2007. "In the early days of like 1989 and 90', We had important allys who helped to get our sound out there,..Great people like Factsheet Five Magazine" says Clark Hagins, Today 44 Years old and a Swimming Pool Cleaner in San Diego's North County. "Factsheet Five Magazine gave us reviews, they let us purchase key important advertising,...and best of all,..they were fair,..and somewhat, pretty much unbiased towards G.E., they let us be ourselves.. ,..they knew we were a buncha schmucks but they were objective to us anyway,..unlike Los Angeles's Bam Magazine ,..and some others who i won't name right now" says Hagins. Hagins, who is an unapologetic 'conservative' feels that his tight Christian upbringing and politics definitely played a role in the failure of G.E. back in their time while other more liberal bands thrived with major recording Label contracts and MTV exposure galore. "My parents and my family raised me to be a dick - lets be perfectly frank here" says Higgins ",..but I was also very shy, timid, kind, and vulnerable, I would listen to people,....I was very pure and honest and quite sincere,..it really came out strong in my lyrics,...but I remember,..if i ever spotted a Liberal person,..I became very rude and arrogant 'at' them,...I didn't mess around one bit,..I could spot a real phoney piece of shit ,..and I often 'always' let them have it,..there was a confrontation and a fight practically every where I ever went in the South Bay (Redondo Beach / Torrance Calif.),..but I guess 'that' is what makes G.E. so great and special today in 2007,....its why we got so big on the net and we get all those plays at Youtube n all,..WE ARE HONEST BLOKES - I stick up for Johnny Ramone and Ted Nugent !!" Guitarist Phil Keegan could never understand Hagins and his zest for politics but concludes; "Theres definitely something there,..we were one unique band,...We really were the templet that the major labels 'used' to build other acts,...You can plainly see that there wouldn't be an Everclear or Goo Goo Dolls without us - we revolutionized the three piece band act presentation" Hagins sees being an anonymous Swimming Pool cleaner as his 'punishment' for who he is and has always been ; "If God doesn't like or appreciate me,..then THAT is nothing new,....NO ONE understands me,..you may just go ahead and include the almighty in with all that category !!,..but ya gotta admit,...as BIG AS G.E. has gotten at Google in cyberspace,..ya gotta admit we are the Kings !!,...We are supremely entertaining above all,..WE 'ALWAYS' get a reaction,..NO ONE CAN IGNORE US,..You can't 'not react' to this !! Hagins recalls a trip to '251',..his old stomping grounds back in Redondo Beach California. "We were all sitting around the table and everybody was talking about how great this is and he was and this guitarist and that,.. and about old bands in the South Bay like the Jades and the Twisters but my wife happened to notice that the conversation went on for over an hour and nobody ever mentioned a word about the mighty G.E. ,....When we were driving back to San Diego she was like; "Those people don't even know you ,...they don't even know or care who you are,- they couldn't even name 'one' of your songs !....they don't even know who they are in the room with..!..." Keegan and Greenhouse consider themselves (along with many others observers of G.e.) as the true 'founders' of the 1990's alternative and grunge rock revolution ; "Just look at us,..who we were and you'l see its pretty plain and obvious,...Hagins mailed out our glossy pictures and shit to Labels,...the rest is history" Greenhouse Effect started out deep in the summer of 1985 crafting early milestone songs like "Precarious" which had influences ranging from Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin to Jimi Hendrix and Bubblepuppy. "Bubblepuppy's David Fore on drums is why I even exist as a musician and 'why' there 'was' a Greenhouse Effect" says Hagins. Greenhouse Effect Music is known today in 2009 on a massive internet scale for Blog driven millions of plays for the Hits "Brandy", "The Black / White Song", and 1989's "A Current Affair" with Keegan. Hagins says he actually particularly "Loves it" when People come on line to say 'bad things' today about the Mighty G.E. "It only gets us more traffic and interest,...Today, i realise that just like this lady once tried to tell me,..Bam Magazine was - in a weird twistedly funny way - trying to 'help' G.E. -,...HEY ,...JUST spell my name right " says Haggins .... ----------------------- Inevitable comparisons between the Keegan Dominated 'Early Years' of G.E. with classic Songs like "Magic Man" and Hagins and bassist Rick Carmody's later incarnation of the Group and more pop perfected masterpiece Songs like "Brandy" and "It Ain't Easy" not to mention "Ben is Dead" and "Star" from the 1991 "Going Legit" phase are a sore spot of contention and chagrine for Hagins who sees alot of people call the latter years of G.E. akin to VAN HAGAR ; "I'll admit that on the South Bay Street (and elsewhere too), they say that G.e. after Keegan is really just one or two songs where-as 'those early days' are the 'real' G.E. where we played all those killer gigs n all ,..."YEAH,..that shit hurts" says Hagins ",..but 'thats' the South Bay for ya,..they come on Youtube under phoney profiles to 'get' me,..I guess they got nuthin' else to do"... Hagins concludes that 'back in the day' , many in the South Bay didn't even consider G.e. a worthy real band worth playing a show with (Much less coming to a G.e. gig at all)... so thats when and where Hagins started taking matters into his own hands and booking his own 'music festivals" impromptu-style,..often playing his band in the 'middle of the set' to make sure they got the key crowd while paying out some three hundred dollars to the city of Torrance to get the gigs booked at the Wilson Park Gazebo ; "I remember that other bands were very resistant to letting G.E. be part of a playbill ,..So i started booking my own shit,..and then "I" would be the one inviting 'others' to come play,...and I remember that the day of the gig,..quite often ,..these local like bully thugs would 'show up' at my gigs,..literally trying to shut it and me down ,..whilst doing all they could to humiliate me,....it was real embarrassing,..a nightmare - just being me,..but I always took note that few of my so-called 'firends' would come to my aid or back me up,...what a buncha shit that was !! I DID EVERYTHING FOR EVERYBODY IN THAT TOWN " "I tried to always stand up for my beliefs" says Hagins ",..and I had a sense of humor I mixed it with ,..I told good jokes at shows" Greenhouse Effect Music is almost 'ALWAYS' A Grande artistic contridiction,...A band that can play guitar solos and songs as proficient and tight as Dragonforce and Herman Li that can turn on a dime and spend hours in a recording studio trying to 'perfect' a sound as sloppy cheesey ART POP bad intently as u2 or the Cure or Morrisey in an effort to 'try to get it exact' and accurately ( "It ain't Easy" is probobly the most perfect example of this) or as Clark Hagins puts it; "People think that I suck on guitar but they are pretty naive because in the studio ,..me and Billy Krodel would laugh because i would sit there and play some Al De Meola type shit and Billy would go; "Clark,..record THAT !!" and I'd be like "No,..Billy,...right now I'm trying to sound sucky,...its gotta sound like the Edge from the Boy album !!!" and we would laugh our asses off ,...but i guess looking back now, ..the joke may just be on me,..because people from the South bay (Redondo beach and Torrance Calif.) are pretty fucking stupid,..they don't exactly have a big lot of sense of humor there in that town" (Laughs)...."But I could always get the good people at Go Boy Records in Redondo to sell my shit,...I remember argueing with like alot of people though who would say things like "My music just doesn't fit",...now imagine THAT - G.E. just doesn't fit ????? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
