(David Sandberg, R.Ph. - Trinity Director of Pharmacy) "The rooms are governed by a standard called 797 standard. The rules are in place to assure that all IVs are prepared in a clean place free of bacteria and particle contamination." The precautions taken are to not only protect the patient who will be recieving the drugs but also, to keep those who prepare them safe... You can't just waltz into these areas proper steps need to be taken thouroghly washing hands putting on approved scrubs and wearing no make-up are just some of the guidlelines to follow...and if all that doesn't keep the area up to standards it is known right away...
