The Parshall Braves are just 3 years removed from a state Basketball title and now the Braves are showing they're equally as tough on the gridiron. The Braves are looking for a first ever football title when they meet up with Hankinson on Friday for the 9 man championship. As Andy

Leraas reports the Braves will look to the 4 horseman in the backfield as a key. ( ANDY LERAAS)"The Parshall-Whiteshield Braves will play for a State 9 man championship on Friday. The Region 5 champions have been solid on the ground as they average 246 yards per game. Braves coach Mark Grueneich says it would not be possible without all four backs contributing." (MARK GRUENEICH)"We knew going into the season that our strength would probably be our starting backfield, because we have four seniors there. They get along really well, they block for each other really well, they execute well together and it makes it possible for our offense to move. One of the things that we have seen throughout the year is that in our backfield often times if plays break down our quarterback can scramble around and make some plays. In one of our games our tailback got hurt and our fullback stepped up and carried the load. We've had a game where our tailback came out and ran really really well. Our slot has consistantly blocked and run the ball for us. So it's been a real blessing for us to have those four guys back there in the backfield." (ANDY LERAAS)"The Braves our led in rushing by senior quarterback Jaren Enockson who has over 1,100 yards on 121 carries and 17 touchdowns on the ground. Enockson says patience is a key to his success." (JAREN ENOCKSON)"I just look over the field real quick, a lot of people just go straight on. I just take my time and see where the blocks are. I just use my speed, just use blockers who usually don't block." (ANDY LERAAS)"Senior running back Cole Hendrickson is another piece of the puzzle for the Braves who has rushed for almost 700 yards and 9 touchdowns on 84 carries. Hendrickson says that the line's blocking has been a big key." (COLE HENDRICKSON)"Well most teams can't key on one player, because we have an array of people who can hurt you with the ball in different ways. The lineman have done a good job all year, making holes and getting through them." ( ANDY LERAAS)"Senior running back Payton Two Crow feels that speed has opened things up for the backfield. While senior running back Harrison Zacher knows that teams can't key on one guy." (PAYTON TWO CROW)"Just our speed has helped us a lot, just to get outside people." (HARRISON ZACHER)"We can go to any back we want, they don't know who to key on and that has helped us because they just can't focus just on QB, RB, FB, anyone." The Braves will take on the Hankinson Pirates in the Fargodome on Friday at 12 noon.
