Football team is headed back to the Dakota Bowl on Friday looking for their 8th state title under coach Sandy. One of the biggest reasons the Aggies have had such great success this season has been because of their defensive play. Coach Sandy feels that the success is to be credited to the whole defensive unit." (LARRY SANDY)"It's the whole crew ya know all 11 guys out there are making there contribution and I think thats the big thing about the defense is that it is a group of kids that are all out there first of all playing there responsibility, they all understand what there role is in the scheme and that just is kids working hard together, and when there doing that it's a pretty good defensive unit." (ANDY LERAAS)"Defensive Coordinator Matt Weidler feels some of the success has been because of a new defensive scheme that has allowed only 71 points all season." (MATT WEIDLER)" Putting in a new system the kids took a while to understand what was going on, some of the concepts of what we were doing but ya know the kids are smart, they understand now, ya know reading our blocks things like that the kids like to fly around the ball. Having that makes it a lot easier when your calling stuff knowing that the kids are ganna get to the ball and be sharp on there assignments." (ANDY LERAAS)"Senior strong safety Michael Wiest and Senior Defensive Tackle Levi Anderson feel the success on defense is because of good team work and discipline." (MICHAEL WIEST)" We don't wanna give up that big play, not saying were worried sitting back on our heals. We like to be aggressive and ya know go at teams. Ya know even if we give up the big play were pretty good at keeping our composure. and staying together as a team and working hard." (LEVI ANDERSON)"Being disiplined I mean sticking to your assignments being where you need to be. Our new system that we put in this year really revolves alot around that. One guy may look like he may not make the play but he's actually causing that play to be made and things like that. It's just the constant intensity that we bring on defense because we take a lot of pride in playing defense."
