Your Hosts read a listener mail asking us to confirm the Disneyland Gallery's move to the Opera House. Then the listener asks where we'd like to see the Gallery take up permanent residence. 1 Hour 2 Minutes.
In an effort to keep some sort of compelling content flowing from the MiceCast Studios when the host count drops to one, I am releasing this video project that I have been monkeying around with lately. It is basically some really old video of the various Disney parks set to music. In each episode, some of the live audio may or may not get left in. This first episode is of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, circa January 1990. There is also a 640x480 version at: http://www.micecast.com/MCNost1f.mp4
After making a couple of fairly big announcements, your hosts tackle a three-month-old show suggestion. Going through each of the decades of Disneyland's existence, pick a premier attraction and an underrated attraction. This is harder than it sounds. While there are no F-Bombs, there is at least one non-family friendly word contained in this episode. 1 hour 33 minutes.
With Greg out of town, your remaining hosts discuss the recent earthquake and its effects on Disneyland operations. Also, since Greg is out of town, there is no adult language in this episode. Lastly, since Greg is out of town, this episode is 1 hour 6 minutes.
Finally getting around to the many show suggestions, your hosts tackle the topic of "which five countries would you add to EPCOT?" They spend approximately 45 minutes discussing that and then move into a review of the new House of the Future and the new Mark VII Monorail. Which, in turn, leads into one mother of a rant/tangent. 2 hours 22 minutes. I don't remember a whole lot of swearing in this one.
Following up on the offer from our last show to talk about the impending closure of the Adventurer's Club, we had a few guests join us for this one. "Earl" and the Bleepin' Wife from Trapped on Vacation, DPN Members Aussie John and Burnt Toast, Will from Magic Never Ends, and Chris from The Big D. All either make an appearance or are along for the whole thing. This show is rated an explicit 'R' (they don't call her the Bleepin' Wife for nothing) and is a long one. 2 hours 41 minutes.
Your hosts talk about the recent announcement stating that ALL nightclubs at WDW's Pleasure Island will permanently close at the end of September 2008. And the attendant uproar about the Adventurer's Club. 1 hour 46 minutes.
With 4 weeks worth of listener mails piled up, your hosts hit the mail bag once again. Some discussion is sparked and some new show ideas are discovered. As an homage to Get Smart, Mike spends the entire episode talking from inside the "cone of silence" (it is NOT a technical glitch discovered after the fact, so don't think it is). Adult language. 1 hour 47 minutes.
Your hosts take an imaginary trip to Disneyland circa 1981. The object being for us to describe how we would visit Disneyland using only a Deluxe Ticket Book to gain entrance to attractions. The day we chose was Friday, July 17th, 1981. This episode is rated PG for language (PG-13 didn't exist until 1984). 1 hour 36 minutes.
Your hosts start out by having a final talk about WestFest. It then turns into a Seinfeld-esque mail bag show where after the questions are answered, no real point is made. Standard Adult language warnings apply. 1 hour 29 minutes.
Our 100th show starts by being brought to you "live" from the Rabble Rouser's meet at DPN's WestFest 2008. It closes with an impromptu roundtable discussion with the Meandering Mouse, JohnDUB, Silverjeeper, SHW, AussieJohn, Chris from the Big D, and Brad from Bringing Disneyland Home. There is adult language but it doesn't all come from just Greg this time. 1 hour 8 minutes.
It is by the graciousness and hard work of MiceCast listener Scott (touchdowncolts on the DPN) from Zionsville Indiana, that we are able to present to you this past moments show comprised of clips and tid bits of MiceCast at its best, 25 in all. Of course there are F-Bombs and other adult language. 35 minutes.
Greg and Mike read listener e-mails and do their best to answer the questions contained therein. They cover a wide range of topics from previous show feedback to known safety issues.
The (derogatory) term DF was coined right here at MiceCast. It is short for Disney Fundamentalist. A DF is someone who can't handle various types of change to "their" park. Your hosts examine the question: What could Disney do to make you go DF? 2 hours later and your hosts have given their answer... sort of. With swear words thrown in for good measure.
Another listener request brings you a show about working at Disneyland. The show is hosted by Greg and Richard since they have the most Disneyland experience (Mike was out of town). Since Mike isn't there, you get 2 hours 3 minutes. There is most likely adult language.
At the request of a listener, your hosts talk about music in the parks. We talk about our music favorites in most of the various categories: Background, Attraction, Show. 1 hour 29 minutes.
Your hosts use 1 hour and 48 minutes to examine this listener submitted question: How well does Disney take care of its legacy? Standard Adult Language warnings apply.
With the recent discovery that Disney plans to put Disney characters in the "It's A Small World" attraction at Disneyland, your hosts talk about possible impacts. Only ONE F-Bomb is dropped. 1 hour 40 minutes. (only 1 hour 25 minutes of talk with a 15 minute music selection at the end)
Your hosts inadvertently revisit the topic of corporate sponsorship in the parks. Part trip down memory lane, part actual discussion. Yes, there is Adult language. 1 hour 54 minutes.
Your hosts talk about the newly rumored 5th Gate at Walt Disney World, Disney's Night Kingdom. A lively discussion, liberally sprinkled with adult language, ensues. 1 hour 51 minutes.
Chris from the Big D is a guest on this show discussing the new House of the Future. It is the height of irony that the recording session was plagued with technical difficulty. Which, in turn, pushed the release date back by about 5 days. Filled with adult language. 2 hours 11 minutes.
Your hosts start out by trying to answer a listener question. A small technical glitch throws them off balance and they end up talking about a whole bunch of different things. They barely get the question answered. Yes, there is adult language. 1 hour 49 minutes.
After a quick revisit of our last show, your hosts tackle a listener requested topic: what do they do with the ride vehicles at night? The boys call upon their theme park operations experience and do their best to answer. Adult language. 1 hour 34 minutes.
The RE-Imagineering blog helps provide this week's show topic: Hong Kong Disneyland. Your hosts discuss the blog's assertion that Hong Kong Disneyland fails miserably when compared to The Original. Multiple F-Bombs in this one, so be careful. 1 hour 49 minutes.
Your hosts follow last weeks ground-breaking 3+ hour marathon roundtable show with something a little more Old School. The show topic is a listener suggestion: Why do people go to Disney? There ARE F-Bombs and the show length is Old School as well, 1 hour 7 minutes.
A roundtable show request from DPN Forum Member Aussie John. He asked us to take a look back and comment on Disney's 2007. He has a few rules, one of them being that we stay positive. We weren't sure we were up to the task (especially the no negativity part) but he bribed us (and bribed us well) so we do our best. Along for the ride is Chris from the Big D podcast, and DPN Forum Members, Burnt Toast, JohnDUB, and Kael. There is plenty of Adult Language and Adult Beverage so be advised to keep the kiddies away. So strap yourselves in and clear your calendars, this one comes in at 3 hours 20 minutes.
Taking one last show idea from the Holiday Season, your hosts examine the idea of other attractions besides Small World or Haunted Mansion benefiting from a holiday overlay. They look at all 6 US parks as part of the discussion. We also read a couple e-mails and promote WestFest like nobody's business. 1 hour 54 minutes.
**** REPOST **** Changed video format from mpeg-II to MPEG-4. No matter how I try I can't get it to keep it's widescreen format. So at least Greg and I look a little skinnier ***************************************** A little video to help with that post-Christmas hangover. Nothing too fancy, just a few glimpses of the holiday decorations around the Disneyland Resort. Your hosts make an appearance as well. 9 minutes.
A little video to help with that post-Christmas hangover. Nothing too fancy, just a few glimpses of the holiday decorations around the Disneyland Resort. Your hosts make an appearance as well. 9 minutes.
Your hosts return from a month-long hiatus with 2 hours and 11 minutes of standard MiceCast fare (Adult language warnings apply). Another entry in the RE-Imagineering blog gives Greg, Mike, and Richard an intersting question to discuss: Does the use of B-List actors in atttraction films hurt Disney and/or the attraction in the long term? Not too many tangents either.
