Quicktime | Apple TV Footage is from an unfinished film about the Santa Cruz boardwalk area (kind of a sequel to A Trip Down Third Street). Sound is just raw from the camera (the SC film will probably be silent).

a place I used to live #4 - stressed version from Temporalab on November 30, 2007 138 views / likes
Quicktime Despite all my griping about temporal compression during the last month, I do sometimes find its odd temporal distortions interesting and useful. So I ll close my 2007 NaVloPoMo entries with this stressed version of a post from a few days ago.

Quicktime 1400k, so slow connections will require patience. There s a codec distressed version I kind of like that may be tomorrow s navlopomo entry.

Guilt from Temporalab on November 25, 2007 204 views / likes
Quicktime Here s a first for me. Outside of Navlo-land, even for much of my web work but definitely for my other stuff, I usually don t even consider beginning to work with footage until months after it s shot. I find I have a much better sense of what the image IS, independently, when it has started to fade from memory. That s when the transformation happens. I m also someone who has been known to spend years on a five minute film. And yet here I am, posting something I edited in this cafe where I ve briefly stopped over to upload (I m staying an hour away - no internet there or anywhere between), that I shot right before driving away from the cabin where we re holed up with friends for the holidays. Debated leaving out the title as it doesn t leave the piece very open. Already think I should have. But have to press publish and get out! (scheduled post)

American Holiday from Temporalab on November 23, 2007 147 views / likes
Quicktime Which is to say another damned road movie. this is footage from driving up to where I am for thanksgiving weekend, with a soundtrack constructed of bits and pieces from unfinished stuff. hastily splotched together after the rest of the cabin went to sleep. In a way its a rip off of one of my own films (Shimmer Crash) but its about something else (see title) - and besides, its rough and raw and whatever it is, navlopomo style. Posting this and tomorrow s scheduled post from a very nice cafe with wifi in Weaverville, which had no such thing last time I was here. The times they are a changin , but not enough to get internet where I m staying (an hour away).

Momentum #1 Monitor Detail from Temporalab on November 21, 2007 144 views / likes
Quicktime By the time most of you read this I will be on my way to the location where this was shot many years ago. I won t have internet access save for the times I make an hour-plus drive to a town that is said to have one cafe with free wireless, so NaVloPoMo posts may be two every two days or something occasionally for the next few days (I ll do advance scheduled posts when I can). As for viewing, I ll have a lot of catching up to do when I get back. The video: This is the detail from one monitor in an older multi-channel piece that I am in the process of restoring (and hopefully creating a composited HD version, but that s problematic for technical reasons I ll probably post about after NaVloPoMo). I ve only posted a 1400kB/s version - if you want to see why, here s one of the *better* frames from the 900k H.264 multipass. Did I mention I hate temporal compression?

Quicktime Video from David Howell s Dave (remixing Rupert Howe) and audio from Aaron Valdez s 20 of 30 Videos Without Scenarios remixed and reprocessed to more closely resemble the way they rested in my fever-recovering brain. All audio and video reprocessed from the original posts.

Blowing #2 from Temporalab on November 19, 2007 72 views / likes
Quicktime I ve been ill - too much so to post or view - for a couple of days, so technically this is Navlopomo #17. Rather than play catchup all at once, I m going to stop numbering them and just try to get back on track, though I ll post double entries on a couple of days so the total number still matches the days of the month once this is all over.

no stopping from Temporalab on November 14, 2007 75 views / likes
Quicktime Quick sketch for something. The footage was intended for an entry in The Public Record, and may still end up there in its original form. This one s a real codec stressor, so please pardon the compression artifacts and the slightly higher data rate. Ultra high rate Apple TV version may follow since this is so temporugly.
