This week you missed an awesome show. The Dashing Suns played last Monday at the Elbo Room, and our new field reporter Tom was there to catch. But don't worry, you can catch the Dashing Suns at the Ghost Town Gallery this Friday the 26th, or at the Uptown in Oakland on October 3rd.

Today you will meet a band called VIR. They ave a new album that just came out called Shadow of a Mountain. I really dig their wall of sound. If you want to see them live, they are playing this Friday the 12th at the Uptown in Oakland.

Today you get to meet a guy named Andy Tisdall. Aside from being an awesome noise-folk solo banjo artist, he also plays in a band called Little Teeth. You can hear Andy Tisdall on either one of his solo albums called I Want Your Brain and Cotton Cannibals. And Little Teeth's new album, called Child Bearing Man, is being released this week on Absolutely Kosher Records. Also, don't miss their CD release show at Cafe Dunord on Sunday September 14th.

Today you get to hear a local band called Raccoons. In their current incarnation as an acoustic band, they really sit down and play some sweet infectious moody songs. This band features Nick Stone, Stefan Wicks, and Jeremy Rosenblum. They have a show coming up this Saturday the 6th with our pals The New Centuries at Kimos. And then another show next week at The House of Shields. They invited our new field reporter Tom into their studio to record a couple tracks.

This week you get to go see a local band called The New Up. They have a big tour starting this Friday at the Bottom of the Hill. Then on to play 25 shows in 30 days in 19 different states. This Friday they also celebrate a CD release and they will be playing with our pals Excuses for Skipping. The New Up are certainly up to a lot these days, in addition to their massive tour, they also have two more EPs in the works, and another tour for each one. The first EP of three, "Broken Machine" is being released just today. I got a copy, and the album cover is totally dada. i recommend it.

In This Episode you get to meet local band from Oakland called Switchblade Riot. So i hope you are in the mood for some loud, raw, fast rock and roll.

This week you get to see a special in-store performance by local band elephone. They played last week at the Great American music hall to celebrate the release of their new album "Canister". I caught up with them while they were playing at virgin megastore and we did a quick interview outside. get their new album from talking house records.

Today we meet local band Big Blue Whale. An Oakland based duo with a unique approach to the two man formula. Check them out at the Stork Club on July 23rd with locals Sister Grizzly.

In this episode you will meet a local band called Nobody Beats They were kind enough to invite us into their studio to hear a couple new songs over the weekend. They have a show coming up on July 18th at Edinburgh Castle and then in the east bay at Mama Buzz on July 19th.

This week you get to see a special performance by Schande. They have a show coming up on July 10th at Hotel Utah with The Bruises, The New Centuries, and my band, Project Alpha. They have a new album out that you will hear about, and also Jen ( the singer) is DJ-ing TONIGHT at El Rio to benefit the new Wiretap cover song compilation. it's only $2 so you should totally go.

Today we get to hear the sweet sounds of Megamoog! We hung out with them on a Tuesday night in Phoebe's awesome kitchen. Megamoog is based in San Francisco, and consists of Megan (founder, vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Phoebe (drummer, kitchen provider). They play shows from time to time in SF - and you can check them out this Monday night (June 23) at Blondies on Valencia St. in the Mission.

Today you get a visit from a band called The Hectors. I caught up with them outside the Knockout after their show. We almost got run over by a guy in a Santa Hat on a bike... These guys are from LA, and they've been touring around the state with some of my favorites like Sister Grizzly and Rademacher. They have a bunch of shows coming up in the next few weeks all over southern California.

In this episode you will meet a local band from the east bay called Superfinos VTO. They came down to lennon studios to rock out and tell you their long awaited upcoming recording. They have a show coming up on June 25th at hotel utah. Oh, and you should also check out their local music collective BARR.

Today you will hear a local group called DOT PUNTO. They are a three piece all female band who play their own type of unique mixed genre melodic indie rock. This week they invite you into their practice space to hear a few songs and try to explain ... They also finally reveal the secret identity of gadget girl. Dot Punto are playing a show this Thursday at the Rockit Room (406 Clement St in the inner richmond).

In todays episode, you get to meet a local band called Whitey On The Moon. They have a show coming up on the 29th of may at Amnesia bar in the Mission. If you haven't heard their music yet, go check them out!

Our second episode from Portland features local rockers REPORTER performing at the MUSIQUARIUM on April 21 2008. They reveal the difficulties of choosing a band name and we explore their musical pedigree. Fresh and tight, rock'n'roll will never die!

This week you get to meet a local punk rock band called LUCABRAZZI . They have a bunch of shows coming up in the next few weeks: Including a show in Vegas where their drummer plans to get married on stage ( seriously) . They also happen to be playing an SF show at Edinburgh Castle on May 30th with my band. Now, I usually do ask bands to recommend a few of their friends bands that they think people should check out, but this time, when i asked, all hell broke loose....

Today you get to meet an electronic group called Return To Mono. They have a show coming up this Tuesday at Cafe Dunord.

This week you get to come along to see one of my favorite local punk bands called The Reaction. Unfortunately, it was their last SF show with their drummer, who is moving to Seattle with his other band. This show was at Thrill house, a cool diy record shop in the Mission. I filmed the band while they played in down the basement. if you haven't been down to thrill house records yet, you should totally go check them out!

This week you get to meet a two piece indie-tronic band called The Frail. They just played a show in Salt Lake City with our pals in Scissors for Lefty. They have a show this Tuesday at the Independent. You can grab their first album over at the Tricycle records homepage.

Tonight you hear a local band called Bears Bears Bears. They have a bunch of new recordings for you to listen to. They came up to Lennon studios last weeend to play a couple of their new songs.

This week you get to meet a band from Oakland called Disgust of us. They have a new album out which you can get right from the band. They are playing at Balazo Galley this friday April 11th at the big Pacific Noise anniversary party. My new band will be playing too, and so will Sister Grizzly. Also Just added a special guest : The Union Trade. With Paintings by Marc Tweed and Jon Weiss. 2183 Mission st Art at 7:00PM , Music at 8:00PM. Attendence is mandatory.

This week you get to see a live performance by Better than Aliens. I have a soft spot for geek rock, so i went and met up with them at the Red Devil Lounge to their show to film this episode. Their quirky existential pop music is full of truly unique compositions and melodies, so if you haven't checked them out yet, you should tune in before they get called back to the mothership.

In this episode, you get to meet a local band called The Prids. They are heading down the coast to play a string of shows in California on what has now been dubbed "the vegan haggis tour". This Episode also marks the Launch of Portland Noise! In the very near future, we will be filming and featuring all the best bands in Portland live on the video podcast, so please get in touch!

So this might not be breaking news, but some of you may have heard that we are at war. Five years ago, the USA invaded a country called Iraq. I believe that music, art, and the DIY culture are in opposition to all war by definition due to the creative nature of such endeavors, contrasted against the efforts of war which are purely destructive. So in this episode, I wanted to share a video I filmed of a massive die-in staged by thousands of San Franciscans on Market street. Do you recognize anybody? What does 5 years of war in Iraq mean to you as an artist or musician? Isn't it time you wrote a new protest anthem?

Electronic Noise-Trio The Family Curse found their way down to the studio to play a couple songs. My ears are still ringing. This group features Marc and Meghan Tweed, and their pal Jeff Doom. They happen to run a new artists collective in the mission called Fainting Room collective. Don't miss their cool new music video, made from over 400 still photographs. This week you hear a band from Oakland called The Heavenly States. They have a new full length album that was released this week called "Delayer". They have a string of CD Release shows coming up in the next week, including a show at The Independent this Friday the 7th with Citay and Botticellis. They are also playing at the Talking House Records SF X SXSW party in Austin Texas on March 15th at Bourbon Rocks.

Today you get to hear some sweet songs by a local band called The Lovers. They invited me to come and visit their practice space and hear them play some of their new material , and some of their old material as well. You can look forward to a new album from them later this year. Check out their myspace page to hear some more cool tunes.

This week you will meet an indie pop band called Sentinel. They are currently working on a new album. but they took a break to come out to the studios and play a couple songs. Today you get to hear a band called The Lonelyhearts. They have an ep called The Four-Wheel Drive EP and a new album in the works. They stopped by the studio with keyboard and acoustic guitar in hand to play a couple songs for you.
