Stock footage, and similarly, archive footage, library pictures and file footage are film or video footage that is not custom shot for use in a specific film or television program. Stock footage is of great use to filmmakers as it is far cheaper than shooting a needed scene. Stock footage can also be used to integrate news footage or notable figures into a film. Examples of stock footage * Moving images of cities and landmarks * Moving images of natural environment * Historical footage Stock footage is most often used in commercials when there is not enough money or time for production. More often than not these commercials are political or issue oriented in nature. Sometimes it can be used to composite moving images which create the illusion of having on-camera performers appear to be on location. B-roll is also another common term for stock footage and is used in reference to film making. Suppliers of stock footage fall into two categories; rights-managed and royalty-free. Many websites offer direct downloads of QuickTime clips, the standard now in use for NLE applications.

One of the ways that UNICEF and other organizations have helped to alleviate children's emotional scars is through dance and movement. UNICEF Child Protection Specialist Amanda Melville views movement and dance as a way for children to reconnect to their normal lives after emergencies. "It can be a way of getting people back in touch with what's happening in their bodies, but also a way of releasing some of that stress," she said. JARAMANA, Syria, 21 July 2008 -- Noujoud Moh'd is a Palestinian refugee residing in the Jaramana camp in Syria. Like the other 5,000 refugees living in the official camp -- as well as the nearly 17,000 living outside in an unofficial camp -- she and her family endure overcrowded housing, poverty and limited work opportunities. Ms. Moh'd, who did not complete her schooling, relies on the assistance of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to provide food aid and cash assistance to meet her family's basic needs. These services constitute a central resource for most families here, which they have no means of replacing. She also relies on UNRWA's free medical care. UNICEF partners with UNRWA and the General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees to provide the camps in Syria with the necessary vaccinations and cold-chain equipment to store and preserve supplies of vaccines. In addition, UNICEF has trained almost 140 health workers and provided physiotherapy equipment to four UNRWA community rehabilitation centres, among other support. Basic health care and medical knowledge provided by UNICEF helps improve the lives of mothers and children already struggling in a landscape of unemployment, poverty and overcrowding.
