Interview with Shane Stroup from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) on July 03, 2008 3 views / likes
In 2005, Shane Stroup hacked 8 seconds off his PB top place 5th in 3:38.57 at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA, 1.44 seconds behind Leonel Manzano of Texas. One year later, Stroup failed to advance to the NCAA 1500m final finishing 11th in his heat to end his career at Florida. A year of injuries dogged Stroup in 2007 as he raced sparingly and ended his season. This season, Stroup began inauspiciously running 1:52.86 indoors on February 2, 2008 in Gainesville, FL. He has since lowered his 800m best to 1:48.34, and won the Indiana Invaders II race on June 9, 2008 in 3:40.51; his fastest time since 2005. Like many of the Olympic Trails qualifiers, Stroup has trained for a spot on the team in anonymity. Scraping by on winnings, he says that this will be the turning point for his track career. Trackshark.com's Ricky Quintana spoke to Stroup last week in Gainesville about his chances at an Olympic berth.

Anthony Romero and Ava Lowery (episode 3) from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) on July 03, 2008 3 views / likes
It's hard to call someone younger than 18 years old a "legend," but Ava Lowery is just that in progressive circles. She created a website at fourteen where she made videos railing against the war. Today, her site, peacetakescourage.com, gets nearly two million hits per month. And she doesn't live in a liberal hotbed like San Francisco or New York, rather in a small town in Alabama. Anthony Romero is the son of a proud Puerto Rican who worked hard to support his family while waiting tables. Anthony grew up to not only be the first in his family to go to college, but to become the Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, and someone we thought Ava should have on her cell phone speed dial. Just in case. Together they discuss the legal quagmire the country has become since 9/11, among other quagmires created by George W. Bush and his Administration.
