Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. We warm things up with the aural travelogue of emotions and feelings that Jay Della Valle creates with his music and then slide into the bluesy Buddy Holly sound of world traveling Derek James. Closing the warm up is New York based Tara Leigh Cobble who when she isn't creating music is busily writing books and articles and running her own indie empire. French masters of military pop Derniere Derniere Volonte crank things up, as we then follow up with Inca Maya who like to channel Led Zeppelin and The Allman Brothers with funky grooves and big hooks that will make you want to shake your money maker. Mr. De' keeps things shaking with the sound of his hometown of Detroit and funks up the tempo for something that is labeled 'Ghettotech', as we then glide into another new sound. 'Nortec' is what you get when you fuse the sounds of accordion and horns of Northern Mexico (NorteÃo) with the energy of electronic beats, and Bostich and Fussible give it a more organic sound, putting extra emphasis on acoustics. Keeping this in the Nortec vibe is PanÃptica, founded by Roberto Mendoza one of the main figures in the Mexican electronic scene since the late 80s. Next up is the collaborative efforts of Ananda Project, with their eclectic and sensuous sounds that meld euphoric soulful house with contemplative R perverse, personal pop music , while The Charlatans return with their latests release that shows these kings of indie rock have a tight grip on the crown and aren't about to let go. We cool things down with the multi-media artist Antony Raijekov who has been turning his unique blend of cool electronica since 2003, before we dial things down a little bit more with the Dub sounds from Volfoniq vs Trema and then close this weeks show out with another track from Tokyo 507 who dial down their usual lazzy jazzy groove to a molasses like flow. Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for you to reach the heights of your capabilities, to achieve your goals and to succeed in life with out it. The Orb gets things warmed up with their combination of ambient house and slow soulful rhythms with added synthwork and effects inspired by '70s ambient pioneers before the heat and rhythm of Brazil come to life thru the voice and music of Aline de Lima. We crank things this week with songs that show off the power of teamwork, by combining soulful vocals and a throbbing groove that grabs you by your toes and doesn't let you stop. Starting things off is Philadelphia singer Kat Fader, and Venetian DJ Franciska before the Alanta based collective known as Ananda Project get remixed by Joe Claussell for a world wide sound with Balearic grooves, Afro-Latin rhythms, R Pogo Kreiner are Madrid De Los Austrias and are given the remix treatment to close things out. Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain. Warming us up is the latest from L.A's Bitter:Sweet, (Shana Halligan and Kiran Shahani) whose lives seemed to have over-lapped but never crossed until the perfect moment in time. How else can you explain two people who lived one block away from each other, and who recorded just one wall away, who never connected until an anonymous online posting? We then slide into another track from Tokyo 507, before Ecuadorian Cecilia Villar Eljuri shows off the power and voice of the guitar, whether plugged or unplugged, to work in harmony with her own. We crank things up with a pair of remixes, starting with a sneak peek of an upcoming track from Miz Mandy that throbs with the beat of the heart, before Japans Studio Apartment (DJ/Producer Masanori Morita and keyboardist Noboru Abe) keep the groove going. E.G. Daily voice may sound familiar to movie and TV fans due to her voiceover work on Babe II: Pig in the City, The Powerpuff Girls and Rugrats, but here she uses her vocal talents to help power along a dance floor rhythm. Speaking of vocal talents, Monique Bingham has worked with a wide range of artists either as a lead or featured vocalist. Here her voice slides and glides around the musical energy of Studio Apartment for an track that is bursting with energy. Keeping the energy at a heart thumping pace is one of Mexico's leading DJ/Producers, Tovar before we merge with the vocal skills of Philadelphia's Kat Fader and Venice's DJ Franciska who met by chance in Ibiza during the summer of '06 and have been churning out amazing grooves with a driving beat since. Vancouver based Toby Emerson has been dabbling in electronic music form an early age, and his skills and talents caught the attention of record labels and producers, and has seen his music snapped up readily by hungry ears around the world. Cooling things down this week are two offerings from The Grooveblasters, first an original track of Cool Cosmopolitan grooves, funked up beats, soulful vocals before they offer up a remix of a great Lovespirals song. Already the king and queen of cool, Lovespirals (singer/songwriter Anji Bee and multi-instrumentalist/producer Ryan Lum) put the call out to fellow musicians to remix their amazing song 'This Truth', and the combination of Lovespirals and The Grooveblasters is the definition of chill and cool. It is fine to have many goals in life, but to focus on too many at once is to pull yourself in every direction, and going nowhere. Focus on one goal at a time to make full use of your resources and you will arrive where you want to be. Getting things warmed up with his blend of pop meets rock is Jay Della Valle who made the switch from wedding singer to artist. His simple melodies and musical rhythms speak of deeper meaning. Donna Lewis has seen her music shift and change over time, reflecting her own life going from artist to mother, and taking time off to raise her family, but still working on other people projects (Trevor Horn's Art of Noise project and David Torn's Lars and the Real Girl) that took me down new and different avenues and allowed me to approach 'In the Pink' refreshed and with a new perspective. Tokyo 507 is back yet again, can we help it if we love this duo of Mark Southeron and Hayden Turner, and their wonderful smooth guitar laden jazz, simple dance beats and ethereal vocals. We crank things up with Mates Of State, a now married duo of Kori Gardner (keyboard/vocals) and Jason Hammel (drums/vocals). Simple arrangements and the sparse sound of piano and drums working in time and around each other show that less is often more, and you will want to hear more from them. We then serve up a trio of artists who have been around for a while, and are still cranking out great music, starting first with Collective Soul who when they first came on the scene, back in '94, critics called them one hit wonders. Fourteen years, eight number one rock hits and seven million in sales later they are back with their latest release showing off their guitar laden sounds and driving beats, before another long time artist David Usher jolts us with his blend of poem like lyrics dancing with high energy music. We finish with one of the members of indie music royalty, The Charlatans with their trademark blend of guitars playing off and with each other creating a sonic wave that the bass and drums pick up and increase in intensity as Tim Burgess's vocals come in, with a melody that's so beguiling it almost disguises the disturbing intensity at the heart of the song. Keeping with the sound based on the guitar is Asobi Seksu as James Hanna creates musical textures with squalling guitars, while the vocals of front woman Yuki shift from girlish falsetto to plaintive laments. East Coast bred but L.A based Time Machine are emcees Biscuit and Jet Set Jay, and DJ / Producer Mekalek show their song writing overflows with DIY attitude as Mekalek relies on heavy drums and rich melodies to push the attitude into the trios sound. Audiokonstrukte serves up some free music off of his last massive release Smart Echoes For Sensitive Ears where beautiful melodies meet sluggish rhythms in a sound field between ambient and the almost forgotten genre of trip hop. Next The Orb returns with their sound of 70's ambient meets classic Chicago house as when they glide into the groove of Urban Soul (aka Roland Clark) who draws on the music of the club scene to spark his musical creativity. Creativity is something Lennon (Kathleen Murphy), and The Sun Paulo shows off as they careen through impossibly convoluted twists, turns and dazzling displays of kinetic virtuosity shot with rampant, crazed energy. Cooling things down is The Atomica Project with the title song from their latest release Grayscale that took the duo of programmer/songwriter Wade Alin and vocalist Lauren Cheatham three years to make and prove the wait of downtempo beats and stunning female vocals was well worth it. We close out with anther free song from Crisopa, the personal project of Madrid based Santi LizÃn, that present melodic electronica with the pretension of prompting therapeutic trips towards impossible landscapes. If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. *denotes songs artists have released for free Warm It Up 00:00 Jay Della Valle - Now U Know 03:17 Donna Lewis - Shout 06:39 Tokyo 507 - Body Electric Crank It Up 11:04 Mates Of State - My Only Offer 13:53 Collective Soul - All That I Know 17:23 David Usher - Ugly Is Beautiful 21:06 The Charlatans - You Cross My Path 25:54 Asobi Seksu - Thursday 28:48 Time Machine - The Groove That Just Won't Stop 31:25 Audiokonstrukte - Sensitive Poem* 34:03 The Orb - Let The Music Set You Free 39:15 Urban Soul - What Do I Gotta Do (Eric Kupper Club Mix) 45:44 Lennon - Infinitebeat2 (Remix) 50:15 The Sun Paulo - But We Want More Cool It Down 53:25 The Atomica Project - Grayscale 56:10 Crisopa - North Left* Run Time 01:03:30 Cadence Revolution is sponsored by The Point For Fitness

It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes. We make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions. Warming things up is a new artist coming our way thanks to our good friends over at Ariel Publicity. Southside's sound is a mix of pop and rock relying on dancing guitars swirling around a rhythmic beat. We shift gears into the funk and soul of The Grooveblaster, and close the warm up with the latest from ABC showing off their ability to blend Martin Fry's soulful vocals, with a sound laced with hooks and an energy that will lift you up. We crank things up into a driving rock and blues vein starting first with Brooklyn-based musician Darrin James, who has taken the blues sound and spiced it up with touches of gritty rock, soul, country and jazz and served the resulting sound up with a raw driving feel, before Sugar Blue returns to serve up his more traditional blues sound using both his voice and his masterful use of the harmonica to keep the pedal to the metal. Next Reel Big Fish hail form Southern California, and bring their unique blend of ska and punk meets the feel good vibe of The Tubes with a touch of stinging guitar licks to round things out. The Mexicolas are back with their mix of crunchy guitar riffs, driving bass beat and earthy vocals before Miss TK and The Revenge hit us with their dance and pop infused punk sound. To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. We warm things up by calling on the female voice for it ability to evoke the feeling of warmth and its capacity to energize first with programmer/songwriter Wade Alin and vocalist Lauren Cheatham working in symbiotic harmony as The Atomica Project as ethereal female vocals merge and entwine themselves in and around their signature downtempo beats. American singer-songwriter Beth Hirsch may sound like one part Joni Mitchell to one part Rickie Lee Jones with a twist of Beth Orton and a dash of Suzanne Vega, but when you delve deeper you hear that she is a voice that is unlike any other. Closing the warm-up is singer/songwriter Katie Herzig whose voice dances and weaves with the energy of a butterfly around melodies that bob and sway like flower heads in the wind. Cranking it up this week is a long time favorite of ours who has just released some new tracks. Craig de Maio shows that if anything his talent to keep things funky and hip is growing as it leaps and bounds with to his infectious groove fusion sound. To some labels are everything but when it comes to music labelling the sound of Nacao Zumbi as simply world music fails to acknowledge their masterful mixing of punk, funk and north-eastern Brazilian carnival music into a sound that is like a musical time machine mixing the past, present and the future together. Sally Shapiro has seen her musical career picking up steam since she exchanged mix tapes with an office acquaintance in which lead to her first single, and two record offers, and now sees her trademark vocals and sound remixed. Ecuadorian Cecilia Villar Eljuri shows off the effects of the musical melting pot that in New York City, supported by a musical family that lead her from composing melodies to her mothers piano playing to picking up the guitar and discovering it's power and voice, whether plugged or unplugged, to work in harmony with her own. Keeping things moving to a sound from South America is Brazils De Madrugada made up of the trio of Simon Papa wrapping his voice around the work of Brazilian guitarist Roberto Taufic and then having the combined effort mixed with the skills of Federico Mahjong Conti to keep it's roots firmly planted in the soil of Brazil, while spreading them into nu-jazz, chill, and broken beat. Mark Southeron and Hayden Turner, as Tokyo 507, show off their amazing grooved jazz guitar sound, easy dance beats topped off with silky-smooth vocals. Even more amazing is the fact that they do it all oceans apart with Mark in Sydney and Hayden roaming the globe. Bosnia DJ Baggi Begovic brings his passion for hot, house banging sets and teams up with DJ Funkerman's love of the house/funk hybrid to create a one of a kind beat, before Tennishero returns with their music that is best described as sounding like a David Hockney picture, as we then close the workout with Soma Sonic, the brainchild of producers/songwriters (and brothers) France and Dominic Paterson. Cooling things down are Montana based band The Clintons showing off their softer John Mayer inspired side, before Kaki King takes over and we close with an artist simply know as Katrine from Norway whose clear voice and simple piano work show that less is often more. Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow. Five A.M. returns to warm things up again with their wonderful sound, before the unique duo of Mark Southeron and Hayden Turner, under the name of Tokyo 507 , serve up a blend of smooth vocals, jazzy guitars, laid on top of cool dance beats. Canadian band Sojourn crank things up with their fresh intimate sound that is melodically complex with the influences of Radiohead, Arcade Fire and Interpol hiding underneath, before Collective Soul return with the latest from their new studio album. New band The Crash Moderns have landed with a big sound that saw then support such the likes of Bon Jovi, Lifehouse and American Hi-Fi, and have now had time to release a full albums worth of material that calls upon the musical spirit of The Cars, Cheap Trick and Elvis Costello infused with a big jolt of energy. The Dandy Warhols hits us next with their sound, before the one-woman baby blue dynamo called Chiki returns with a sound that reminds you of so many things but the energy level makes it impossible to shove it into a neatly labelled box without blowing it apart. Layering feminine vocals singing in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English and a beat that is part Latin, part jazz and a driving bass is the sound of Sweet Electra before New York session player Scott Wozniak, who has performed with such musicians as Pink, Toni Braxton, Blu Cantrell, and many more, teams up his sound with the vocal backing of Angelica Linares. We then close the workout with the one-two combination of the progressive tech beast 'Devil Chile' from Australian DJ/producer Neon Stereo followed by dance/house music legend Ralphi Rosario who has been making musical magic since the late 70's. They cranked it up and now they cool us down as Sojourn show their flip side by bottling their energy but not their emotions in this piece of emotional musical expression. Closing things out is the musical light that is Clair, shining their blend of melodies and music like a beacon in a dark night. It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. Five A.M's mix of musical hooks and thought provoking lyrics get the warm up under way before the music of WAZ built upon a foundation laid down in his early youth thanks to his parents collection of records by The Pretenders, ELO and Neil Young. His sound has risen above this foundation to stand out on it's own to soar high into the sky. Closing out this weeks warm up is Clair whose music and lyrics are like rays of sunlight shinning and bright, and with a heart warming warmth if you let yourself become immersed in their sound. The Orb is back to crank things up, this time with a different song, but still under the influences of electronic dub and house before the 80's based group ABC returns with a new song, and still with their signature sound that is just as fresh today as it did then. Erika Jayne presents her follow up to her club smash 'Roller Coaster' with 'Stars' which takes the primal throbbing energy of the dance floor and mirrors it in musical form. Next up is one of the leaders of deep house. Detroit based Quentin Harris calls upon the influences of Prince, P-Funk and Motown to help shape his sound and beat before electro pop band Rubikon serves up their deeply textured sound, melodic guitar riffs and lush lyrics. We then shift into the acid jazz vibe of Naked Fat Lady, composed of the trio of Yuri Gonzalez (bass, programming) Carlos Acevedo (percussion)and Hugo Sources (guitar), and then slide into the reggae influence groove and body rocking beat of Los Angeles based Zeroleen. Japans The Sun Paulo is so outside of the musical envelope one wonders if they were ever in it. Mixing psychedelic, metal, jazz, Latin, and every genre of rock into an infectious uplifting groove, their music shows that keeping things safe is the last thing on their minds. We close the workout with the return of the jazzy lounge groove that is Johan Brunkvist. Tearwave are putting the finishing touches to their upcoming release and cool things down with this free version of their interpretation of an 80's classic originally done by The Church, draping it in their dreamy dark pop sound and heavy use of reverb and delay pedals to come up with a version that is both soothing and powerful at the same time. Stirring keyboards mixed with drum'n'bass, and fuzzy guitars are the sound of Norway's Orange Crush before we close things out The Atomica Project. Mixing the talents of programmer/songwriter Wade Alin's downtempo beats with ethereal vocals of Lauren Cheatham the duo known as The Atomica Project weave a musical tapestry echoing the cinematic storms of the Midwest and the turmoil of inter-personal relationships. The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly. We warm things up with the Vancouver trio, Pacifika (Silvana Kane, Adam Popowitz and Toby Peter) and their unique blend of flamenco, guitars, Caribbean grooves, Latin and Armenian folk music that conjures up rhythmic ocean waves crashing on warm sun shores. Vienna's Tosca (producers Rupert Huber and Richard Dorfmeister) are back with a nod to the King of Rock'n'Roll in this latest offering that shows off their trademark mastering of the tribal and dance floor beats into something that fills the body with an urge to move. Cranking things up this week is beauty queen turned singer Kristine W, whose voice speaks of power and soul and can swing from classy jazz standards to dance till you drop club anthems. DJ/Producer Jay-J is back with another track showing off his Midas touch when it comes to matching the right music with the right artists to create an infectious groove. Next up is Taxi Dolls as they take one part Blondie, mixed with equal parts of Garbage and The Chemical Brothers, to bridge the gap between electronic music, pop and rock into something they call 'Rocktronica'. Argentinean musician Alex Alvarez moved to Barcelona and was reborn as Killfish, but still holding to the influences of Deche Mode and Apex Twin mixed with his signature love of drum'n'bass. Having a dream is never a bad thing, unless you choose not to make it a reality. They've helped crank things up for us in the past, but this time My American Heart warm things up by stepping a little gentler on the gas and showing that they are a multifaceted group of musicians. With a resume that lists singing with the likes of Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, and Laurie Anderson, it should come as no surprise that vocalist Joy Askew's builds her lyrics around musical moods to entwine and mirror the emotion of each song. We close the warm up with legendary blueswoman Marcia Ball whose piano playing and passionate vocals merge the sound of Gulf Coast and Austin R Tosca (aka Viennese producers Rupert Huber and Richard Dorfmeister), before the self-styled 'official ambassadors of cosmopolitan cool, The Pinker Tones, bringing us the sound of Barcelona. The Orb hits us with their rhythmic blend of Indians rhythms, bumping basslines, and a touch of disco, and we then close the workout with Fish Go Deep from Ireland. Catherine Russell cools things down with a voice as smooth and silky as a lazy river on a Sunday afternoon and as big as a bass drum that oozes emotion in every note as we then shift into the bluesy folk feel of Canadian JC Campbell to bring things to a close. Let the goals you set be important, meaningful and achievable for both your personal and professional life. Do what you want to do, not what others want you to achieve or accomplish. Zed+ kicks the warm up off with a slick combination of rock groove served with the silky smoothness that is jazz as we then shift into Got-Ta-Scatta as they take the sound of Beth Hirsch and remix it with there trademark senusual meets sinister sound. The sound that is Vancouver's Parlour Steps mirrors the environment they live in, reflective and subject to stormy weather, and something which this foursome call 'thought rock' before the Mexicolas serve up a hard-hitting sound of layered guitars and driving drums. We feature two sides of Italian born Ray Tarantino in this weeks show. First up he shows off a swaggering bit of attitude with a rocking bit of blues that growls and barks at you. Back again is the young five some out of San Diego called My American Heart with another great track showing off what three years of practise and touring have done to hone and sharpen their sound and creativity. Sounding like a cross between the beat of an industrial machine meets up with the vocal talent of a woman with an axe to grind agianst it, Ayria serves up her club hit 'Six Seconds', before Dutch based DJ Orlando Voorn and Germanies Guy Krieger shifts things to a gentler side. Producer Marcel Otte and DJ/Producer Stephan Lohmann joined forces back in 2006 to form Firedance that takes their combined creative inspirations to put a fresh twist on the techno beat that carries on thanks to the works of DJ Hot Hands and Carangelo. The music of WAZ lives in the now, but is built upon the foundation laid down in his early youth thanks to his parents collection of records by The Pretenders, ELO and Neil Young. His sound has risen above this foundation to stand out on it's own to soar high into the sky. Cooling things down is Israeli born Yael Naim whose sparse ballads meander between folk and pop, while simple musical arrangements weave amongst her voice. We close out with our second song from Ray Tarintino that shows the flip side to this artist, and his ability to whisper as loudly as he growls. Change is a powerful word, and how you define it, will define whether you run away from change or run towards it. The choice is yours to make. Warming things up this time is jazz man Bobby Ricketts followed by multi-media artist Zilo Groove and his eclectic beat that mixes a little jazz, a little soul, electronica and Afro Beat. Cranking things a notch are three new artists from Ariel Publicity, starting with Last November and the thought-provoking lyrics that echo passionately through the voice of lead singer Luke Pilgrim. My American Heart is a very young at heart band out of San Diego that knows how to rock it out with a great rhythm section that become the launch pad for hook laden songs. If you've ever hear the Rolling Stones song Miss You then you've heard Grammy Award-winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue already. Sugar Blue breathes his heart and soul into every note he casts forth and has a voice that can go from a whisper to a throaty growl, before The Josh Nelson Project takes over with there modern Jewish music with a blistering layer of guitars. Kheir El Houda lean more towards mixing traditional Middle East sounds with today's beat to help shift things into a more dance floor feel that is carried on by Datguy whose signature sound has found a home not only on the dance floor, but in the movies as we then groove into the sound of Urban Soul (aka Roland Clark) who draws on the music of the club scene to spark his musical creativity. Kimara Lovelace closes the workout with a pair of songs that lets her signature voice, that has been compared to the likes of Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills, and Gladys Knight, soar and swirl around the rhythm of the music. Dee Brown cools things down with his blend of music that is as refreshing as a cool drink of spring water, before The Clinton's return but this time with a more acoustic sound to close things out. To some the journey to becoming perfectly fit may seem too difficult and is like trying to look beyond the horizon, impossible to do, and the goal out of sight. Instead set goals along your journey like widely set stepping-stones across a river, challenging to each but easily seen. JD73 (JazzDoctor73) has been showing off his musical talents for the past 10 years, and leads off our warm up this week, before we ease into the experimental cross-cultural sounds of The Shanghai Restoration Project as they blend eastern instruments, Shanghai jazz with western rhythms of pop, jazz and hip-hop, and then close the warm up with Tennishero who sum up there music as sounding like a David Hockney picture. Cranking things up are The Jars a band from the late 70's who were one of the first bands to meld 60's garage with 70's punk, before the Mexicolas serve up a hard-hitting sound of layered guitars and driving drums and then let Asobi Seksu take over with their wall of sound melding sonic guitar riffs, heavy beat and ethereal vocals. Elizabeth Harper sounds like what you would get if you cross Morrisey with Chrissie Hynde. The end result is an amazing voice framed by guitar-laden melodies. Hailing from Colombia Alex Armes has been making his brand of music since the age of 12 and has dipped his creativity into many genres of music from rock, jazz and house. Next up is the soulful sound of Yes King, that takes a little bit of hip-hop, ska, soul, gospel and reggae as when then groove into the sound of urban Soul (aka Roland Clark) who draws on the music of the club scene to spark his musical creativity. Hailing from Brazil, Imada blends Brazilian, Cuban and African beats, as they call upon samba, jazz, Latin, house and lounge to create a sound that warms you from your head to your toes. The name Bob Marley says it all when it comes to this legendary musician, now served up with loving reverence in a collection of remixes that balance the fine line of respecting the source while using the technologies and sounds of today. Rooted in the rhythm of the Caribbean, but based in New York, The Easy All-Stars are a rotating collection of musicians whose sound and live shows always come with fresh nuances each time. Cooling things down is The Groovematist, international DJ and longstanding producer Mechial White who was born with an inability to sit still without picking up whatever was handy to start tapping out a rhythm. We close with the dream like sound of Natalie Walker as her lilting voice drifts over haunting soundscapes Creating music is my outlet, says Natalie. I was born to sing. When I don't, I feel empty. When I do, I feel fulfilled. It's that simple. If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. There are times when you the two parts of your conscious will battle for who your listen to on days when exercise seems like something that should be put off, it is harder still to ignore an exercise partner who you know will physically drag you off of the couch. We shake off the chill of spring with the sounds of Hatian born Jacky Ambroise whose love of the flamenco guitar is combined with traditional troubadour rhythm of his country creating what he loves to call Tropical Flamenco. Former Cirque du Soleil electric violinist Edgar Gabriel heads StringFusion, a group of eclectic musicians from around the world who bring their native sounds and rhythms to be fused with rock and classical instruments and elements all merging into a signature sound before Giordano Trivellato and Giuliano Sacchetto as The Bex close out the warm-up with an chilled back sound and groove. We crank things up in a ska meets punk vein for the first three tracks starting with The Bruce Lee Band whose up-tempo beat and catchy lyrics make a serious one two punch before the surf like sound of The Delstars keeps thing kicking. The Clinton's firmly have their tongues in their cheeks with a song that reminds one a little bit of Madness, blending ska, punk, pop and humour all into one big bouncy rhythm. We then start shift genres first dipping into the world sound that is Detroit based Zebula Avenue as they blend traditional with modern melodies and then groove to the freestyle vibe and body rocking beat of Los Angeles based Zeroleen before New York based DJ Nick Jones carries the beat and keeps it going. One of our favorite artists Yamasaki, brings his always contagious beat that mixes smooth jazz, funk and a big beat and teams that up with the acoustical magic of Children of a New Jazz Era to create music that soars, swoops and swings. We close things out with a trio of songs and artists all with the dance floor in mind. Arnaud D from Lyon, France sets a driving tribal beat mixed with the electronic sounds of the dance floor, who hands the beat off to smooth groove of Tennishero, and then lets Soma Sonic, Brothers Francois and Dominic Paterson, bring the work out to a close with their unique blend of dance and a touch of jazz and swing to the mix Cooling things down are Balkan Fanatik, originally formed to help preserve the musical heritage of Eastern Europe and the Balkans by taking traditional sounds and adding the sounds of today to reach out to young audiences. Madrid de los Austrias (DJ and A Pogo Kreiner) are back to close things out with one of the most laid-back beats to date that shows off Andalusian rhythms, flamenco and Heavy vino tinto. To discover your true self you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is your true self. Sheri Miller warms us up with her blend of musical magic from her new EP 'Mantra' showing off her love of the acoustic guitar with touches of pop and a little country into her folk blend. We then slide into the house, soul and nu-jazz sound that is the Ananda Project. Englands Slow Club crank things up with their blend of acoustic folk meet toe-tapping pop sound. We then glide into the tempo set by Josh Fix whose long awaited self produced album 'Free At Last' has seen him compared with the likes of Queen, Little Feat, ELO and Supertramp. With a love and experience of art-damaged rock, cool jazz, and spacey experimentation, Parlour Steps aim to try something new; to test the boundaries of musical expression yet still create a sound that makes you want to smile and move. Something that Between The Trees aptly does with a sound that is hard-hitting, ambitious, accessible, and riddled with unforgettable hooks that course through a sonic landscape of open vistas, quiet private spaces and sun-drenched, slamming beats. Satellite Nation left the comfort of the Central Coast of Australia for the rain soaked coast of Vancouver, Canada to hone their music that speaks with brutal honesty about the influence of the 3 L's (life, love, loss) that orbit our daily lives. Also calling the Great White North home is Ayria (aka singer Jennifer Parkin) whose brash bold sound that mixes straight old-school EBM with harsh elektro while giving a nod to electro-clash, reminding one of a body check from a pro hockey player. We next groove to the freestyle vibe and body rocking beat of Los Angeles based Zeroleen before Australian DJ/producer Neon Stereo unleashes the progressive tech beast that is 'Devil Chile'. We close out this weeks workout with a piece from New York session player Scott Wozniak, who has performed with such musicians as Pink, Toni Braxton, Blu Cantrell, and many more, with the vocal backing of Angelica Linares. Cooling things down is another first solo release from Dee Drown, who serves up smooth jazz sound mixed with the sound of Motown, and before we stay with more laid back jazz sounds thanks to Don Grusin and Bill Sharpe. Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But when today is well lived it makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day. The Shanghai Restoration Project are back to start off another show with another composition showing off their ability to meld early Shanghai jazz with today's rhythms and the sounds of traditional China into a timeless piece of music. Hailing from Wales Champion Beans (Leigh Adams) music has been influenced from a casting a wide musical net that caught the sounds from Fila Brazillia to Bill Conti, Parliament to Terry Callier, The Stone Roses to Crazy P, Alice in Chains to Daft Punk and were finally released upon the public in 2007. We crank things up with the merging of old world instruments, twangy guitar licks and the beat of the dance floor first with the Middle East sounds from Cheb Bou-A before heading to L.A and the sounds from producer/composer/bassist Greg Reeves known as Cordovan. Maintaining that tribal beat is Swiss DJ Soma Cruz who mixes the influences of the past with such electronic artists as Brian Eno, Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk to create a sound that resonates with the beat of your heart which Sandor Peres picks up using his mix of bassline and guitars that keep time and support vocals that move and groove around the heartbeat. Redstarrising uses an infectious drumbeat to borrow in thru your ears and work it's way down the length of your body, causing every muscle to resonate with it's beat. Japans Studio Apartment combines their musical genius with the vocals of Chicago's DJ Ron Carroll, and DJ Ramus Faber then remixes it all into a serving of dance, soul and funk that will lift you up. Audiokonstrukte keeps you feeling light and moving with ease by blending ambient with trip hop and laid back rhythms in this free release before The Orb (one of the founding fathers of ambient house) steps in with a song that once heard will stick with you for a long time, as they blend old world with new, dance with searing guitar, all supported by an infectious bassline before Zion Train drive the workout to a close. The first peak is the best place to pause and look back, to see if you took the easiest route, to learn the lessons from the first climb. And it is the best place to examine the terrain ahead, to decide if you will change your plans or goals, beofre you to take a deep breath and begin climbing again. Mark Marshall is back to warm things up this time with a funky laden instrumental piece, before the collaborative efforts of producer Estrechez and vocalist Jehn Cerron take over. We close the warm up with Seattle based Two Loons For Tea pick the pace up with their mix of eclectic electronica, rapid-fire drums and dreamy pop vocals from Sarah Scott. With a name like Los Campesinos, Cardiff Wales is the last place you would think this band is from. This seven-piece ensemble like to sing about the 'Three R's, human anatomy, mixx tapes, fighting, other peoples' bands, girls/boys and disappointment, while putting a bed of scratchy quitars, violins and possibly a kitchen sink to build upon. Our lives are always changing and evolving from day to month and year, sometimes in very minute ways and other times in more dramatic ones. Change is inevitable, and we can choose to be someone who; makes change happen, watches change happen or one who wonders what happened. We all have a choice to decide which group we want to be in. We warm things up this week with Gum lead by the vocals of Leigh Myles. Their sound has been described as being 'so slinky that it could flip-flop down a flight of stairs by itself'. Next up is the latest release from The Shanghai Restoration Project, who offer up yet another unique creation, this time blending early Shanghai jazz with today's rhythms and the sounds of traditional China. We close the warm up with the latest from Abra Moore as she displays the effects of being immersed in a creative household where she was exposed to everything from jazz, soul and rock'n'roll, and has taken the pieces that resonate with her for a truly unique sound. Cranking things up is a blast from the days when glamrock was king, and T-Rex was its name. Cadence Revolution - Show 54 from Cadence Revolution on March 08, 2008 150 views / likes
Perhaps the biggest step we take in any endeavour is that first one. The one that says today I take a new path as I step forward to change something about my life. If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security as you take that one small step into change. Cheb i Sabbah is no stranger to walking the path of change, as this musical adventurer, global spiritualist and producer extraordinaire has walked many musical paths, that have allowed him to stay at the forefront of the world music scene, and helps to warm things up with sounds from the Indian subcontinent. Brazil's Nacao Zumbi offer up their blend of traditional Brazilian percussion beats and splice guitar licks that remind you of Jane's Addiction, but together the two sounds tread the new musical path dubbed Mangue Bit. We've cranked things up with just about every musical genre there is, but this week marks the first time we offer up the sounds of the surf genre with two tracks. Ronnie and his Twangin Little Fellow were formed when two people came together over the sale of an amplifier. One was selling and the other was buying, but instead they found they were on the same musical path and gathered musicians of a like mind to join them on their journey before we get picked up by the wave of sound that is The Delstars. Sometimes the path we choose can branch off in interesting directions and such was the case for Sheri Miller who was born into a musical household, and began playing the piano at an early age, but later switched paths towards studying literature and poetry before they led her back to her musical path after dreaming about buying a used keyboard, and then coming across the very same used keyboard the very next day. We next step into the heavy tribal beat of redstarrising whose states that their sole goal is to have fun with sound before one of the most classic of house tunes is resurrected in this weeks show. DJ Earnshaw injects a heavy dose of funk to the mix while keeping the vocals of Kimara Lovelace beautiful voice intact. We then slide into the sound of New Zealander Louis Berstone who musical talents lay rooted in the fertile soil of the guitar and the electronic combinations originated by bands such as Mi-Sex, Bjork and Split Enz. Brititsh Electro-Pop band Matinee Club has changed and grown a lot since forming five years ago. To date they have changed names, three times, seen band members come and go and switch record labels several times. The one constant that hasn't changed is their focus and devotion to churning out high-energy music which is carried on by Benjamin Bates who has stayed true to his musical path as well, starting out as a DJ at 17 and has never looked back. Vancouver based quintet Hinterland has chosen to blaze it's own unique path by creating what they refer to as Dreamo taking equal parts from Shoegaze and New Wave to breathe life into a sound that drifts from darkly ethereal beauty to blasts of feedback-infused bliss before the pop/rock sound of Charades brings the workout portion to an end. We cool things down with lots of slow beats, dub and reggae first with Dubdadda who combines old school dub mixing with the sound of the here and now. Keeping things on the path of laid back and slow is Jah Free before we close out with The Bathtub Sophist. A home-recorded solo project, The Bathtub Sophist merges many music genres and covers a range of mood and styles, and never sticks to just one safe path, but looking for the next opportunity for change to take things in a new direction If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. *denotes songs artists have released for free Warm It Up 00:18 Cheb i Sabbah - Qalanderi 06:00 Nacao Zumbi - Carimbaeo Crank It Up 11:15 Ronnie and his Twangin Little Fellow - Vincent Suprice 14:08 The Delstars - 6L6 15:44 Sheri Miller - Devil in White 18:41 redstarrising - Ground Zero NYC* 21:20 Kimara Lovelace - When Can Our Love Begin (Richard Earnshaw Main Mix) 27:50 Louis Bernstone - Morning (Radio Edit) 32:15 Matinee Club - Discotheque FranÃais (Manhattan Clique Extended Remix) 40:04 Benjamin Bates - On My Feet (This World Needs More People Like You!) 43:09 Hinterland - Detwiller Pavelion 46:50 Charades - En NingÃn Lugar Cool It Down 49:00 Dubdadda - Pick One 52:36 Jah Free - Dub One Another 56:41 The Bathtub Sophist - Jah Playground Run Time 01:01:15 Cadence Revolution is sponsored by The Point For Fitness

We were honoured to have been asked by Anji Bee to participate in a very special episode of the Chillcast (NIU Support Collabocast) that featured submissions from sixteen other great music podcasts. Our submission was Kerry Politzer's song 'Trampoline' from her 'You Took Me In' release from last year. We chose this song as it speaks of the ties the hold us grounded in life. While we all long to break free from the orbit of home and family, and head off on our own individual journey, it is these very ties that we know will be there 'to catch me if I fall' in times of trouble, but will release you to continue ones individual journey when ready. You can hear our submission and the entire show here.

Cadence Revolution - Show 53 from Cadence Revolution on March 01, 2008 228 views / likes
The beginning of March sees the days lengthen and the sun shine stronger signaling the end of winter and the return of spring. The change is seasons reminds us that change is a constant in our lives, a time of rebirth, a time when the influence of change exerts itself on our thoughts, emotions and bodies prompting us to reborn as something more than we are now. We warm up this week with the aptly named song Reflex by Mellow, as we then slide into the sound of New Zealander Louis Berstone who musical talents lay rooted in the fertile soil of the guitar and the electronic combinations originated by bands such as Mi-Sex and Split Enz. Norwegian electronica artist Orange Crush (aka Karl Endreson) infuses organic rhythms into the digital world to give birth to his latest offering to crank things up. Mobo award winning artist J'nay brings together a fertile sound grown from an eclectic mixture of soul and a fresh take on retro and new wave sounds, that have led some to compare him to the likes of Sam Cooke, Al Green, and Prince. Speaking of eclectic mixtures that is what the duo of Tokyo507, Australian based Mark Southern and UK based Hayden Turner are. Thou separate by vast distances they are connected by the groove of jazzed guitar sounds, lounge beats and silky vocals. Sun Tzu and Octahvia are another duo that shows partnership is the bed upon which new ideas and sounds are born from. Suave keyboards, temperate bass and hi-hats percolate together while eloquent vocals creating a desire to flow into their music. Crisp energetic guitar chords meet snappy drums as the vibe and groove that is Yamasaki returns to us, but this time entwined with the sounds of self taught classical guitarist Children of a New Jazz Era to create something that reminds you of the familiar, but thrills you with the tingle of something new. The name Lisa Bouchelle may be new but the voice reminds you of one you've heard before. One that has backed up the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, Cyndi Lauper, and Daryl Hall, but is now front and centre on her solo release of acoustic pop. The Prime Movers are best known as a band from the late 60's and early 70's who were heavily influenced by Paul Butterfield and the sound of blues Chicago style, who also drew upon folk and avant-garde music to come up with their signature sound. Alternative rock band Ovni serve up their debut offering that will leave you wanting to hear more from them before Bitterside dishes up a spoonful of their captivating melodies and guitar driven music that bring a good-time vibe to the body as we head to the end of the work out. We end with the unusual combo of Montreal based Alek Et Les Mauvaises Raisons and the whiskey laced sound a tough as nails girl attitude that is Devil Doll that hits you hard and then tingles every nerve in the body with their rockabilly meets punk whirlwind of sound. We cool things down with the sound of Hellbus, before we close out with the organic rhythms of The Chill Conspiracy out of Switzerland. Cadence Revolution - Show 52 from Cadence Revolution on February 23, 2008 228 views / likes
Numbers can often can rule or dominate our lives, but sometimes numbers are a reminder to celebrate. Such is the case this week as we celebrate the number 52, as in 52 weeks, 52 shows, 52 hours to equal the first anniversary of Cadence Revolution. We start off with a trio of songs to get things warmed up starting off with Mark Marshall, a man of many talents be it musical or visual, and is a self described 'media renaissance man' before we slide into the upbeat acoustic sound of Slow Club, and then have Johan Brunkvist return with his blend of jazzy lounge groove to get you set to crank it up. Sally Shapiro gets the pace moving with her sound that that fuses exaggerated electro beats reminiscent of a neon, bygone era whilst preserving an understated innocence, elegance and light. Keeping things moving is New York City based singer/songwriter Derek James whose use of rhythm is only equalled by his vocal eloquence before Wil Deynes takes over with a sound and lyrics that will lift the energy in you up. Sarah Nixey's voice sings of heady, half crazed stories about minds and bodies, flesh and spirit, memories and illusions, desperation and passion which is laid on top of an dancing beat that is carried over into the offering from California based Karmyn Tyler. Eyes Of Love combines a driving dance beat and features the vocals and lyrical talents of Sarah Grimaldi in this song of trying to find ones way in life and love before Sean Woodby and Montoya maintain the drive inside you to become a better you. 4 To The Bar are back again with there trademark sound that mixes bossa nova, samba and jazz before 80's musical icon Howard Jones hits us with his latest release that shows he still has that musical touch that grabs you and makes it hard to stay still. We like the number 4 so much that we close things out with a quadruple dose of rock'n'roll inspired drive and attitude that reflects the attitude inside that you still have the focus and drive to finish your work out as strong as you started it. Montreal based Stereomovers first serve up a slice of their electronic meets rock'n'roll music as they speak of the fire that still burns strong as ever before turning things over to the wall of sound that is Uncut. Blending cascading sonic guitars layered one on top of the other with a driving beat that keeps pushing you closer to the finish. The 1990's show just what happens when you toss in three guys from Scotland, some guitars, a kit, a bass, and a music into the blender and hit chop as we then close the workout with UK based Bloc Party. We cool things down with another trio of artists who mirror the values of happiness and balance for life in their music. First off we have the talented voice of Abra Moore, before jazz pianist Kerry Politzer mirrors her feelings not only thru the keyboard but also with her voice, before the celestial sounds that is Phobos entwines itself around the exotic vocal talent of Natacha Atlas to bring 52 hours, 52 shows, 52 weeks of Cadence Revolution to a close. Cadence Revolution - Show 51 from Cadence Revolution on February 16, 2008 120 views / likes
They say time flies when you're having fun, and this weeks mix of music features a lot of artists whose music will make the next hour feel more like sixty seconds. Getting us warmed up is French electro-dub band Volfoniq, mixing electronics in with ample amounts of ska, and reggae to celebrate the roots of Jamaican music all wrapped up in a free gift of music before UK based DJ Jon Kennedy spikes the warm up with his copious bag of musical ideas. Cranking up the celebration is Naked Fat Lady composed of the trio of Yuri Gonzalez (bass, programming) Carlos Acevedo (percussion) Hugo Sources (guitar) who work with guest musicians to create their distinctive acid jazz vibe. Hailing from Nashville, Lennon is unlike other female singers as she has little desire to be another cookie cutter female country/pop star, surprising those who hear her for the first time expecting a cross between country meets The Beatles. Walking on the stage, I get people's attention. Everyone has preconceived notions, and I love seeing those fall. And fall they do as she embraces the sound of heavy sonic guitars, introspective lyrics and electronics. Zion Train proves that cutting your own niche is often the key to longevity; as they formed back in the early 90âs, and have lead the way as Dub/Dance pioneers, as well as dabbling in multimedia. They have involved themselves in every aspect from music to magazines, CD-ROMs to Internet sites to sound systems, but never forgetting to continually release quality music. Speaking of quality, it is something Kirsty Hawkshaw has had ingrained in her from an early age thanks to her composer father who made her listen to a wide variety of music, which can be heard in her own compositions, and her love of helping other artists craft their music. Keyboardists/Producer Johan Brunkvistsâ musical creations explode with dancing keyboards in an exuberance of life and energy, before the beat and drive of David Ushersâ latest release keeps the energy topped up. What do you get when you take Abba and drop the crunch and boom of AC/DC on top of it? You get Guards of the Metropolis, as two girls from Scandinavia harmonize with two boys from California rockinâ it out with more free music. Holding to this example of eclectic band makeupâs is Fort Pastor as two Yanks and an Aussie come together in an acoustic rhythm of guitars, percussion, didgeridoo and other musical instruments to create socially conscious songs. We close the work out with one of our favorite duoâs, Lovespirals and their blend of jazz, blues and laid back Southern California groove that will invigorate and mellow you out. Cooling things down still in the Jazz vein is another great composition from our favorite one-man band, Yamasaki whose blend of jazz, funk and soul is like an aural massage for the soul before Skywards closes the show out. If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. *denotes songs artists have released for free Warm It Up 00:18 Volfoniq - Hypno Dub* 06:55 Jon Kennedy - 110% Proof Crank It Up 09:56 Fat Naked Lady - Fat Naked Lady 15:24 Lennon - Infinitebeat2 Mix (Remix) 19:48 Zion Train - Eagle Ray 28:30 Kirsty Hawkshaw - It's A Fine Day (Kinky Roland Mix) 34:34 Johan Brunkvist - Free to Be (Radio House Edit) 39:17 David Usher - Ugly Is Beautiful 43:01 Guards of Metropolis - Perfect World* 45:55 Fort Pastor - March Out 48:38 Lovespirals - Sandcastles (Radio Edit) Cool It Down 52:55 Yamasaki - Me Dad and Van The Man 56:48 Skywards - Central Calm Run Time 01:01:24 Cadence Revolution is sponsored by The Point For Fitness

The rhythm of our bodiesâ flows and pulses with life, energy, and strength which is mirrored in this weeks mix of music starting of with Sweet Electric from Mexico with there cabaret meets acid jazz offering to warm things up and get the blood pumping along with help from the Egg Chair Architects. Sun and Soul Shades return with their jazzy/chill rhythm of muted horns, smoky jazz bass and warm vocals help to raise the temperature and provide the musical drive to crank things up a level. Under the guise of Dalminjo is Norwegian producer Ole Roar Granli with his eclectic blend of house, broken beats, drumânâbass and electronica coming together to energize the will to maintain the commitment you made to yourself. Cadence Revolution - Show 49 from Cadence Revolution on February 02, 2008 144 views / likes
The human species has been making music since the dawn of time, and one might think that eventually every possible combination of notes, and genres would have been exhausted by now. That thought is proven false with this week's mix of new musical discoveries that prove it is not what you have heard, but what you have not yet heard that matters. Our favorite jazz fusion alchemist, Yamasaki, is back with a new musical elixir that shows of his unique ability to create a beat and blend just the right amount of jazz, funk, and soul into just the thing to start warming things up before we sample a concoctions of Swedish born keyboardist and songwriter Johan Brunkvist. We crank things up with a new genre of music call EclectroSonic presented under the name of a one-woman dynamo called Chiki. Her unique look and sound remind you of so many things but the energy level makes it impossible to shove it into a neatly labelled box without blowing it apart. Next is the the pop sensible sound of Wil Deynes, who dips his musical toe in everything from Sinatra, 80's pop and today's Top 40. Still sampling the past, present and future is 4 To The Bar as they merge their love of 60's jazz and South American dance music with four-four timing that dares you to keep your feet still. Keeping with the theme of creating new sounds from old we next fall under the spell of Dengue Fever as they generate a psychedelic fog of 60's Cambodian pop and the spacey vibe of traditional vocals to come up with something that leaves you feeling infused with new energy. Something that is carried on by middle eastern feel of Tariq Bahm, before we hit you with a double dose of Latin resonance starting with Marco Vinicio who draws upon his love of visual art to create images with sound. The sound that is Mangana raises the temperature as they make the sensual groove and power of Latin music infuse the ears with aural imagery of sexy salsa, emotive bolero, and catchy merengue. Catchy layered guitars, and lyrical magic deep fried Souther style have always defined The Black Crowes who are back after a seven year break with their first new album and sold out tour, and show that they have many songs still yet to be born in the them. Devil Doll's sound is like a shot of whiskey, it hits you hard and then tingles every nerve in the body with their rockabilly meets punk whirlwind of sound that Fono picks up and maintains the pace with their edgy guitars and energetic drive, before the catchy hooks, and energetic beat that is TV/TV make you push to the end of the workout without letting up. Cooling things right down is the easygoing rhythm and smooth vocal that is Taj Weekes' showing off the power of roots reggae that is carried on by NY based Ticklah before we close with the unique electronic sounds that is Audiokonstrukte who leaves you drifting in a dreamy peaceful state. If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. Cadence Revolution - Show 48 from Cadence Revolution on January 26, 2008 204 views / likes
Winters cold dark grip has many of us dream of warmer and sunnier places, and for those longing to get away this week's mix is an aural vacation into the Latin climate. We start warming things up in the south of Spain where Madrid De Los Austrias call upon the Andalusian influences of the region to create shades of exotic rhythms as we then come under the masterful guitar sounds that is Almas. The name, Mexican Institute of Sound, hides the fact that it is the sole work of office worker and beat painter Camilo Lara as he mixes traditional Latin music, Colombian cumbia, Cuban, and a massive collection of vinyl into an infectious mix of sound and tempo. We crank things up and swing between traditional and alternative forms of the Latin sound starting with musical globalista Manu Chao who uses his rock'n'roll roots as his foundation while dipping into reggae, ska and punk. Bringing the music back to a more traditional basis is famed Cuban band Irakere that mixes Latin jazz and Cuban folk melodies together into a sound that has earned them a wide fan base around the world before Barcelona based alternative rock band Ovni serve up their debut offering that will leave you wanting to hear more from them. We then swing back under the guidance of famed Cuban bandleader Luis Santi to the traditional sounds of Cuban Jazz. Multimedia artists Marco Vinicio uses carries his talents as a painter and artist over into his love of music with the guitar, keyboard, drums and computers as his brushes to paint a multilayered sound and beat upon a canvas of Costa Rican roots. Jumping off from the sounds of their native Venezuela, Los Amigos Invisibles they then add a splash of salsa rhythms, the fun of funk, a jolt of acid jazz, and a strong dose of industrial techno, to create their signature dance band sound. The music of Laisla easily reminds one of a tasty layered dip that starts with a base rhythm coming from the dance floor, then a solid layer of tribal drums, followed by female vocals, the cool sound of horns, and the fire of Spanish flamenco guitars that meld together into something that will appeal to everyone. Speaking of mixing things up, the official ambassadors of cosmopolitan cool, the duo of Professor Manso and Mr Furia as The Pinker Tones, are willing to toss just about every genre and any sound they can find together to see what infectious groove that can whip up. The Latin Soul Syndicate is made up of three musicians (Happy Sanchez, Karl Perazzo, and Mark Pistel) from three diverse bands (Los Mocosos, Santana, Consolidated) that have blended their musical talents into an upbeat Latin soul, electronica, pop and rock sound. Mexican DJ Galapago called upon six other diverse musicians from around the world to come together in this experimental offering that uses Latin American culture, electronica, funk, reggae and cumbia music to create a sound infused with energy and drive. Originally coming together to make a sound track, Brazilian singers Helena Cutter and Denis Porto wound up creating Brazuka Fina something showcases the rhythm and beat of the Carioca samba and other Brazilian folkloric influences with the vibration of the electronic sound. Thus giving us the best of both the old and new world together in sounds. Cooling things down is Chilean DJ Bitman as we then glide into the rich array of rhythms from emotive bolero to catchy meringue that is Mangana, before experimental and ambient sound that is Moosefrog chills with the smooth vocals of California based vocalist Anji Bee to close out this weeks show. Cadence Revolution - Show 47 from Cadence Revolution on January 19, 2008 219 views / likes
We bring a mixed blend of new artists and ones we have played in the past with new songs that take primal throbbing musical energy and use it to put an extra bit of zip into our bodies for this weeks workout. Starting things off is the return of Los Angeles native Samantha James with a remix of her current single, with her smooth and sultry voice and international rhythms to get things warmed up. Jupiter One is also back with their latest free offering that shows off the energizing and stimulating sound these five musicians create to crank things up. Though they are new to us, The Prime Movers are best known as a band from the late 60's and early 70's who were heavily influenced by Paul Butterfield and the sound of blues Chicago style, who also drew upon folk and avant-garde music to come up with their signature sound. Sometimes when you recycle something old you can come up with something new that sounds nothing like what it was, and such is the case for The White Tie Affair who were created from the demise of two local Chicago bands (A Perfect Gentleman and Made in Hollywood). Rather than rely on their old bands sound, this new band sought a new fun, party sound that would translate into music that generates a positive sound and energy. Speaking of fun and positive sound, Erika Jayne presents her follow up to her club smash 'Roller Coaster' with 'Stars' which takes the primal throbbing energy of the dance floor and mirrors it in musical form, before Sultan maintains that primal rhythmic energy with 'Brain'. The New Jersey production team known as Blaze next take that primal energy and branch off into gospel territory until the multi-musical personae Den Kozlov, brings us back to the sound of the club floor under the moniker Karmahacker. Darius Lux takes the energy and spikes it with 60's song-writing, 70's soul, 80's pop and 90's hip-hop into a new mix that is part soul, part pop and with just the right amount of rock. Brett Dennen, with his folky pop sound, dials the energy level back as we cool things down, and shows why this 28 year old singer / songwriter / musician has earned high praise and a devoted fan base. Tearwave close out the show with this free version of their interpretation of an 80's classic originally done by The Church, and draping it in their dreamy dark pop sound and heavy use of reverb and delay pedals to come up with a version that is both soothing and powerful at the same time. If you want what you hear, just follow the links to the songs in the playlist below to get them. Warm It Up 00:18 Samantha James - Breath You In (The Southern DJ Mix) Crank It Up 11:02 Jupiter One - Platform Moon 16:14 The Prime Movers - Back In Line 19:05 The White Tie Affair - Allow Me to Introduce Myself...Mr.Right 21:53 Erika Jayne - Stars 25:55 Sultan - Brain 34:33 Blaze - Family (Roots Vocal Mix) 41:33 Karmahacker - The World Of Abstract Thought 48:00 Darius Lux - Hey You Cool It Down 51:30 Brett Dennen - She's Mine 55:42 Tearwave - Under The Milkyway Tonight Run Time 01:00:16 Cadence Revolution is sponsored by The Point For Fitness Voice over work courtesy of Wild Planet Radio

We had so many great tracks from last year that we just had to do one last look back at 2007, before we clean house and move on to all the great new music we have been collecting. One of the earliest artists to reach out to us thru myspace was Yamasaki (aka Tom Edwards), who warms things up with his amazing ability to weave jazz, funk, trip hop and soul into something that acts like musical peanut butter and sticks in your mind for a long time. We then glide into a musical gem by Craig de Maio, who shows that this music industry student at Drexel University that âitâ that defines great musical talent. Thought we are looking back, Galaxy 2 Galaxy cranks you up to keep those New Yearâs resolutions with their stripped down productions combine pseudo-mysticism and sci-fi overtones thanks to the influences ranging from Gospel to Kraftwerk. One thing we have learnt over the past year is that there is great music to be had from every corner of the world, first with a trip to Mexico City and home of the Mexican Institute of Sound who take traditional Latin music, including Colombian cumbia and Cuban Chacha, and merge it with electronic magic for something truly one of a kind. Something German based Sunburn In Cyprus is also. Each new recording is like a musical surprise, as they never deliver the same thing twice by using every genre, and shaking them up with catchy vocals to always keep things fresh and lively. Dub Gabriel and Multi-Media Mercenary Kerac join forces as the Bambu Brothers bring the world together with their sound that draws on Middle Eastern, Indian and African traditions with Dub Sensibility that make it hard not to move to their groove. Howard Jones helped to define the mid-80âs with his synth-pop sound, and shows that some grooves stand the test of time with one of the best songs from 2007, before the rhythmic sounds offered up by Danell Dixion and Every Move A Picture take over. One of the biggest helping hands we grabbed hold of came from Ariel Publicity, and their amazing line-up of artists, that started with New Yorkâs Telling On Trixie who are a musical Ying and Yang combination who manage to balance and bring out the best of itâs two front men. We close with two artists who bring our around the world musical journey closer to itâs end first with Japanâs Agatsuma who is the worldâs leading ambassador of the art of Tsugaru-Shamisen, and mixes it with jazz and the traditional sounds of the shamisen. The word Tinariwen, means âempty spacesâ, but this musical group out of Northern Africa fill your ears with hypnotic bluesy guitar riff | | |
