someone should really call the Power Point Protective Services and have this dude brought into custody for such willfully hurtful treatment of a presentation system. but seriously, I just wanted to show you a few minutes of the social networking "penetration" presentation I saw yesterday here at the Forbes Internet Leadership Forum (for a select group of 'leading' American marketing and ad execs). very interesting in showing what they do and don't understand, and how they want to buy into 2.0.oh, penetration. how you vex me.

this is a huge file; the panel is 45 minutes long. the panel, for Fobres' leading industry advertising and marketing execs, was just over about an hour ago, included myself, Rich Jenkins (Editor-in-Chief MSN Money), Greg Bartalos (Asst. Managing Editor Yahoo! Finance), Robert Scoble and was moderated by Paul Maidment. this was shot from the back of the room and is pretty shaky, but if you're really interested in what we said (and the questions we got from *very* traditional media marketing execs), have a listen. some people in the audence expressed to me after they were disappointed that I was cut off at one point (as was I), but I think I got to say some good things. I mean, these people never have contact with people like me. so hopefully I got to represent my communites and our values. though it was a room where earlier attendees had expressed (seperately) that they think blogging is just a trend, and that user-generated content is a fad that will pass. I told them what I thought. these people self-disclosed that they have private planes. I just wish I'd had a chance to tell them where to put their pre-rolls. w3rd.

in Austin, Texas for SXSW I happened upon a building demolition with my new videocamera, and shot this video in two parts -- it's not terribly exciting, unless you like twisted wreckage and industrial equipment (like I do). I put photos of the concrete carnage on my Flickr stream and a local commented with an explanation, saying, "Intel started building this as a design center during the boom. When the crash happened, it was abandoned and stood as a reminder of the crash, uninhabited, for years. Recently, the gov't bought it to build a courthouse and it was imploded."

Last night I went to the GayVN's at San Francisco's Castro Theatre. This ten-year anniversary of the event -- the 'gay porn oscars' -- was in SF for the first time ever. It was packed; like 3000 men and five women in the house. One of those women was comedienne Kathy Griffin: this is a short video of celebrated drag queen and porn director Chi Chi LaRue introducing Griffin to a standing ovation.
