Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Blog Action Day 2008 focuses on Poverty and will be held on October 15, 2008 to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. Launched on August 15, 2008, in the next two months they hope to get support of of bloggers, podcasters and videocasters who will participate in the event. Many top blogs are joining in and many have decided to donate the day s earnings. As the promotional word spreads, over 1600 blogs have already joined the campaign. You can start by registering your blog. On October 15th participating blogs will put up a post, video or podcast about poverty. The immensely popular Digg has launched the Digg Toolbar, a Firefox browser extension that promises to integrate Digg with your browser, stay connected in real time and really change the way you use Digg. Is it easy to fake Feedburner RSS counts? Is it possible to gain 2000 readers in a day? Have you seen those rising Feedburner RSS counts on your competitor blogs while you struggle to get a few subscribers. It turns out that people are cheating away to actively create huge Feedburner chicklet counts and its all too easy. Easy Hack: Increase Feedburner RSS Counts Techcrunch provides an insight into how the guys at Next Web demonstrated an increased Feedburner feedcount from 43 subscribers to 2500 overnight simply by creating an OPML file with the same feed copied 2,500 times and pasting it into their Netvibes page, and FeedBurner counted them as separate subscribers! With Feedcount becoming a benchmark of a blog s popularity, the common way people used to fake Feedburner count was by copying the code from a popular site and pasting it as theirs. Suddenly my trust in those 100K feedcounts has diminished. My own custom dashboard with boxes and stuff wherever I want is cool. Admin-only reply thing - for admin replies to comments is easy to customize via CSS anyday. But coded into comments is great. Sitemaps by default - though the sitemaps plugin does a great job, default sitemaps would help most bloggers get better site indexing by search engines. Comment threading - some people like it and use the threaded plugin, but not for everyone. Batch editing of posts - now we are talking some powerful stuff. Batch Categories can do some powerful category management for you too. Prepare for Wordpress 2.7 and track new features and bug fixes in works on Wordpress Trac.
