Well the early assessments of Barack Obama’s “World Get to Know Me Tour” are in and he and his campaign production company are receiving nothing but rave reviews. Before leaving Israel for the European leg of the trip, he made a predawn visit to the Wailing Wall placing a note to the big Guy in the crevices for good luck. By all accounts he left the Israelis with a favorable impression as well the Palestinian leadership. Israel was clearly the toughest audience Barack Obama was going to face on this whirlwind adventure, but he held to his P’s and Q’s while crossing every T and dotting every I to give the Israelis all the assurances they would need to feel his commitment to their security. Going one step further than John McCain did on his visit to the troubled region, Obama was gracious enough to make a stop in Ramallah to chat with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

Since the Obama campaign people are seemingly having difficulty answering the question of whether or not the so called surge has worked, we thought we’d off the following as a possible response. Perhaps the surge was simply cover for what was in the process of happening anyway in Iraq. Perhaps the Iraqis were getting tired of the bombings, the attacks in their own neighborhoods, the surety of continued occupation of American troops as long as the violence persisted. Sure, one could point to the statistics of attacks falling off dramatically with the infusion of more American forces, but that is no proof that cooler heads would have not prevailed had we decided to pull the plug and redeployed elsewhere.

In an effort to clear the name of his deceased father, young Ray Gorman travels to darkest Africa to try to track down the money embezzled from his father's bank years earlier. After a long trek through the jungle Gorman finds the money in the care of beautiful 'white witch' Doreen, daughter of the now long-dead embezzler. Gorman finds his goal difficult to accomplish as not only does Doreen, guarded by a huge, ferocious gorilla, not want to give up the money, but greedy guide Carl Hurst has followed Gorman's trail, intent on getting the money himself by any means necessary.

We here at RetroVision Media we ask ourselves daily why anyone would want to run for the presidency of these United States. Charged with covering the antics of low life political hacks and operatives, the truly ignorant and the purposefully underhanded alike we have witnessed some of the most loathsome behavior one could imagine. Barack Obama must have been crazy to take on the odious job of campaigning for the world’s top gig when he had to know from the onset how difficult that would be for a person of color. Perhaps he thought he would have gotten more support from those that have traditionally been on the side of people first politics. We as well as his campaign always knew he’d take a beating from the loonies on the far right, the white sheet clad crews, the blatant racist types etc. But Obama’s trouble is coming less from the obvious creepy cruds than from those that should be considered friendly.

We even had an impressive number wanting some chat over Sen. Obama’s FISA vote. The latest of which will examine thoroughly. We even thought about going with the finger that Karl Rove gave John Conyers and his House Judiciary Committee this week. But alas, the clear winner for the last Issue Under Fire this week has to go to the Iranian, U.S., Israeli grudge match that is brewing.

A group of workers is traveling by bus to the town of Bojoni to work for an aristocratic family. The driver has a fulminating heart attack, and the group decides to drive to the near village of Tolnio instead, to spend the night and follow to Bojoni on the next morning. They find nobody in the apparently ghost city, but in the next morning, they meet the hospitable dwellers. Their bus has a problem in the engine, and they have to stay in Tolnio.
