You can get one for yourself at Heklina s legendary party called Trannyshack mucking up our fair city weekly for 12 years, the club night has been officially recognized by our own special mayor, Gavin Newsom. No Cher or Barbara Streisand here, these drag queens do songs by Arcade Fire, Peaches, Missy Elliot, Bjork and the inimitable Kate Bush. While some of tech nobodies thought some kind of Apple event crowded out San Francisco with geeky types, Irina knew better. Tens of thousands of people pummeled our fair city with their presence to attend the WWWDC the World Wide Wrestling Developers Conference, where nerdy alter ego s of pale weaklings body-slammed each other deep into the night! Irina s wresting twin, The Kazakhstane Krusher no impostor like Borat (the entire film was shot in Romania!) Irina was born in the nuclear waste fields of the former Soviet republic, and has the anatomic anomalies to prove it. Some of those anomalies are included in her signature moves, the K-Rocket Launchers! Lets see what kind of damage the bone-thin denizens of geekdom can bring in the wresting ring! Back before there was the Internet, early caveman dialed into computer bulletin board systems or BBSes to get their online fix. It is with great pleasure that we happened upon the San Francisco hacker art gallery 20 goto 10 where an ANSI art exhibition was in progress. Irina Slutsky talks to curator Kevin Olson who takes us on a tour of some of the amazing early work of two ANSI artists, lordjazz and somms. Geeky yet ironic conversations with web2.0 players

By Peter on 2005-11-23 13:45:19
The good: Ironic, geeky, web 2.0 conversations with people in web 2.0
The bad: Good sound, but bad image

Review:
"Explain this for my father Boris who still thinks AJAX is a cleaning project." That kind of sums it up.

It's an ironic look at web 2.0. The good thing is: they interview the real players in this space. The bad thing: it's sometimes *too* ironic. I think they should ask some harder, real questions sometimes. Don't be afraid to be serious too, guys.

On the other hand, don't be afraid to tackle the people, instead of just the buzzwords. It's easy to be ironic about buzzwords, but more interesting to be ironic about people.
