King Khan & BBQ show - redux from infinite sound on March 19, 2007 471 views / likes
So I was a little off with my claims of a re-launch... how many months has it been? i'm not back quite yet. there's finally an edited version of that king khan & bbq footage from the silver dollar. Aldo from www.tobescene.com edited this footage together (cameras by Aldo, Rick & myself). this is not the full show, and unfortunately is missing some of the craziness from later in the set. Right-Click for a king khan & bbq show be sure to check out tobescene on myspace for more live footage, local bands performing live in their studio, and some other fun stuff like el vez and stuff relating to the last pogo doc. finally if you haven't checked out some of the videos at kinodv seriously do it fast. some great stuff there.

Re-launch! from infinite sound on October 20, 2006 48 views / likes
Some of you keep asking me if i'm going to post again. The answer is yes. I'm plannign on re-launchign the site within the next 2 weeks. I starting posting videos with the deadly snakes. I figure it's onlyl fitting that i re-launch with footage from the last ever show (the day after the official one that was recorded). the entirety of my footage (basically the first 30 minutes because i didn't think they'd play longer) is available on youtube if you want to see it. I'll be posting a few of my fave clips from that though i guess if people have requests of which clips they'd like posted they can comment here. i'l follow that up with some King Khan & BBQ Show. and yes there's a little teaser i posted on youtube as well - i hope that one will eventually be edited with footage from 2 other cameras. that might eventually be posted on www.tobescene.com. the same goes for the next video on youtube which is of the mnysterious bush league. the tobescene crew also filmed that show, but also did a studio video for bush league. you can check out the audio on tobesscene's myspace (my band also has a track up there). http://www.myspace.com/tobesceneproductions for all the videos that i haven't been posting for the last while, go to youtube http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=infinitesoundvlog here's the king khan & bbq show teaser video. it's long.

chimichanga rock n roll 10/12/04 from infinite sound on February 18, 2006 189 views / likes
right-click to get down this wasn't supposed to be a once-a-month blog. i'm hoping that will change as soon as i'm used to my new job/new schedule. i haven't had much time lately. this is actually something i found on my computer - who knows how long it's been there. the footage is old too, from the very first boyfriend material concert, opening for the neurotic swingers. chimichanga was a last minute fill-in for the midways, one of whom fell off a roof. no joke. on this night chimichanga borrowed guitars from boyfriend material... and had problems all night. one guitar kept cuttin out, so he switched to an old cheapie that also cut out (when he hit the toggle switches) or just plain sounded outta tune and quiet. he impressively made do. this is the only accident-free footage of the night if i remember correctly.dan vila aka chimichanga is also guitarist for bush league (check out their upcoming 10" on yakisakana) and no dynamics. chimichanga has now morphed into a duo (chimichanga and the organ of xtabay) and perhaps is over with completely (replaced with the full band disgrimination).

lullabye arkestra- Doing it to Death New Year's eve from infinite sound on January 15, 2006 255 views / likes
Right-Click for a Lullabye And now a quick break from your regularly scheduled videos. I borrowed a video camera with nightvision to film this show, and seeing how i have to return the camera soon i transfered the footage and thought it might be nice to post it kinda close to the start of the new years instead of doing stuff in the order i previously posted.Anyways... this was the Doing it to Death new year's party- with rosazia, no dynamics, lullabye arkestra, and LAND (no dynamics+lullabye arkestra). Unfortunately i had battery problems and this is the only complete song i got from LA (I managed to film rosazia and LA, and nothing else). They will probably hate me for posting this because they fucked it up (they even tried it again later on in the night, this time with singing and more instruments). The core of LA is Justin Small (Do Make Say Think) on drums and Katya Taylor on bass and vocals (i forget her other band). Sometimes they also have addtional help from a couple of people to help with screaming (and in this case sprinkling of glitter), keyboards and horns. A trumpet and keyboard player showed up a little later in the set.you also get the countdown to the hour to start everything off.lullabye arkestra also has a myspace.

sickoids @ smiling buddha 12/08/05 from infinite sound on December 18, 2005 243 views / likes
right-click ok so i've been lazy. i expect stuff i posted about will be up next week, as well as some MOTO from the same show as this. the sickoids are also the bayonettes, who decided because they were playing at the Smling Buddha to do (mostly) vancouver punk covers - i guess as some kind of tribute. this was a bit of a sloppy set, and everytime i film them bennett's drums go flying across the stage, but i like them alot. they seem to play in the US fairly often, if you feel like checkin them out (and you should because they're fun) there's a couple of shows in january coming up.

mind controls in the basement pt1 from infinite sound on November 29, 2005 255 views / likes
right-click to leave a message i don't know what any of the mind control songs are called - i just made up titles. i tried to check their myspace to figure it out... not gonna happen. about a month ago the band played in my basement for a party and i filmed it. featuring bbq on guitar & vocals, ysael from demon's claws on bass, and brian from (i think ) the confusers (another montreal band) on drums. the party was pretty tame during the show... the crowd getting taunted by bbq at one point. shit got interesting later on. it was pretty dark in the basement so i filmed in nightvision, which accounts for the trails and shit. also bbq is backlit the entire time so no seeing his pretty mug. i think this was their 2nd or 3rd show. and they hadn't played together in 6 weeks. not bad if you ask me.

tradition @ the bagel 2005 (no dynamics ep release #1) from infinite sound on November 25, 2005 222 views / likes
right-click to learn tradition so tradition is james klassen and whoever will play with him. this particular lineup is a rare (?) 3 piece with 2 former creeping nobodies (julia on guitar and james on drums). maybe it was a special occasion thing for the no dynamics ep release party. You can hear more at the myspace profile. also tomorrow night EST you can hear this: This Saturday night from midnight to 1 am, Wired for Sound brings you a live recording of James Klassen performing a solo acoustic set of songs from his typically-two-piece band Tradition, recorded live at the Bagel on November 2. Hilariously misleadingly described by Daniel Vila in the "VICE Guide to Toronto" (in what may be their only known press thus far) as "four kids, none of whom are over the age of 18," there's truth in them lies, as the spirit of Year-Punk-Broke spunk comes through plenty in Klassen's sludgy drones and obnoxious vox full of disease and wheeze. Hope all you cavemen and free women out there enjoy... That's: TRADITION Recorded live at The Bagel Broadcast on CKLN 88.1 fm (streamed live at ckln.fm) Saturday, November 26 from midnight-1 am (technically very early Sunday morning)

galaxy - ladyfest toronto 2004 from infinite sound on November 24, 2005 240 views / likes
right-click to see the galaxy Galaxy are a 3 piece band. I think this was maybe their 2nd or 3rd show, and that they had recorded a demo without a drummer before that. i could be wrong. this was for ladyfest toronto 2004. I got a media pass to help document the event (a lot of my friends were involved in the organizing) but nothing much ever happened with the footage... my friends were all too burnt out by the experience to do anything, and i never have on my own. I was totally impressed by galaxy when i saw them...but admittedly i haven't seen them in a LONG time, since november of last year when my band played with them. I've been told they sound much different now. galaxy aren't on myspace but they are on friendster. i posted this song because both katie and emma sing, and this was the only bit of footage i had that showed them both more or less equally.

the sick lipstick- wavelength zine fundraiser 11/29/03 from infinite sound on November 24, 2005 219 views / likes
right-click to get sick sorry about the delay in posts folks, i got real sick. this footage is from the annual wavelength zine fundraiser from 2003 - also the first time i used my video camera EVER. the sound is a little patchy because i didn't mess around with any settins and i didn't have a condenser mic yet...but i dont' think it's too bad. I think i only got to see the sick lipstick once after this. dennis now drums for the creeping nobodies, and lindsey is in fox the boombox. i'm not sure if anyone else is doing anything. this is about all the footage i have.. just one more song. i only had about 45 minutes of battery time to work with.

the creeping nobodies @ the boat 11/03/05 from infinite sound on November 11, 2005 162 views / likes
right-click to see your likeness ok this is from a week ago at the Boat. I've already posted the opening act (broken treefort), and i will post indian jewelery eventually. i would've waited to post this for a while but i've been busy and it was ready to go. this song is from the new half saboteur ep (only for sale on vinyl but also available on cdr with purchase of the ep). if anyone's found my flickr account, this is the source of the "derek finds religion" photo.

broken treefort @ the boat 11/03/05 from infinite sound on November 05, 2005 273 views / likes
right-click Broken Treefort is a nearly decade old bedroom recording project. Recently, Mark, the brains behind it all has started playing 3 song sets with various people to help fill out the sound. This night's set featured Mark on guitar/vocals, JFink on drums (no dynamics, eudora, problem, blood ceremony), and stu (these patients) on keyboard and percussion. mark also plays with problem and formerly with tradition

the night terrors 10/20/05 @ the bagel from infinite sound on November 01, 2005 198 views / likes
right-click to get night terrors named after the rant at the before the song. i also added a tag, this is the only time it'll appear like this - i'm waitin for a friend to design a nice logo for me. anyways the show was sparsely attended, about 20 people besides the bands, which is a shame because the night terrors were really good. much rawer than the recordings on myspace, which is all i had to go on. the video is no as dark as the pic above, the tonys is just standing on a table out of the light. it's on nightvision setting so the motion is staggered a bit, but i think it looks kinda cool.

mind controls in the basement pt2 from infinite sound on October 19, 2005 243 views / likes
right-click to go out the back door ok so this is another mind controls clip.. along with audience admonishments. i think they're touring Europe in December after the Demon's Claws tour... but don't take my word for it. today i got a wide angle lens so in the future the whole band would appear in frame. yay for boring static shots. this might also be the last post for a week. i have been busy filming but not encoding... so i've got alot of that to do. i'm also in school again for a few more months = less time than i thought i had. don't worry i'll still post.

the Leather Uppers @ Cinecycle 12/18/04 from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 321 views / likes
the leather uppers i'm still not sure if problems with archive.org have been fixed or not, so i hope this works. the leather uppers have been one of my favourite local bands since i started goign to shows back in 1992. they often used to play with suckerpunch (still today the best live band i've ever seen - if i ever get ahold of footage i'm posting it), and so i saw them alot. the next thing i know they break up. i found out last summer they had reformed thanks to a friend giving me a video of a street performance for NXNE. this particular night was i think the first "big" (whatever that means) show my band played (along with skip jensen, the brutal knights, leather uppers & demons claws and yes it was as good as that lineup suggests). the night was drunkenly fun as we went through 19 cases of beer. according to one eyewitness, classy craig daniels was showin off his class by drinking 5 cans of beer at a time. i guess that's what happens when beers are 1$ for bands. it's probably not so visible in this video, but the uppers were wearing matching capes. they also made probably the best entrance to a show i've ever seen - standing on amps, craig on guitar and greg air drumming for about a minute before jumping off and playing with no pause. they also played a bunch of OOOOLD songs - something off one of their tapes.

pony da look @ tranzac from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 171 views / likes
right-click to pony da look this was a part of the 2nd night of no dynamics 12" release festivities. i haven't been able to figure out what this song is called. they have a few albums, but admittedly i never bought any. i do like them though, they are quite catchy. some people seem to get upset about the vocals... i think it's distinctive. anyways. you can find out more here or here (this site needs realplayer to hear audio).

the Guest Bedroom @ Sneaky Dee's 9/7/05 from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 162 views / likes
right click to bless the heartless This show was kind of a write off from the band's perspective.. it was another band's show - they cancelled but only let tgb know the day before.. so there was no time for promotion or to get another band... basically there were 15-20 people in the audience.. the band was drunk, goofing and not caring. i still think things turned out pretty good. i was asked to post that disclaimer though. apparently the band is described as "fuck-pop".. i don't know what that means, but i knew as soon as i heard them that they reminded me of magazine (howard devoto's post buzzcocks band)... minus the prog. maybe it's the circus organs.. who knows. i like em. they're also one of the nicest bands in town... bringing baked goods and candy to shows....threatening thank you cards in the mail and so on. no thief is being turned into a video this weekend, an actual video as opposed to one of my special productions.. so keep an eye out in a few months? for more info go here or to the band myspace edit: the footage for no thief has been removed.

Anagram 9/3/05 @ the Silver Dollar from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 216 views / likes
right-click...once i had to re-upload all this stuff because it didn't work the first time.... what a pain. i coudlnt' figure out what files i wanted to post so i'm posting 3... yes 3 files for you. Anagram is one of those local bands that gets people riled up.. the audience goes nuts (especially when the suburban posse shows up). it isn't always like this... but this'll give you an idea of a good anagram show. They get compared to a whole bunch of bands, but really its' hard to wrap it up neatly for you... they love spacemen3, often cover "proto punk" (electric eels), and hardcore (flipper), and sound vaguely like joy division focussing on the rhhythm, with sax and a singer on more of an iggy trip. Also due to the fact that they tend to play really long songs live sometimes...i've posted what i can in my time limit. i refuse to post something that sounds like crap.. which means videos top out at about 4 minutes. sometimes that means i just can't post the footage i want to and post a complete song. and once again... for more anagram go here edit: 2 files removed

aidswolf @ adrift skateshop 8/21/05 from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 204 views / likes
right click to send a letter to al johnson this was the 3rd time i tried filming aidswolf... i like how it turned out, the dark lighting was a nice change. aidswolf vocals are always low in the mix, so dont' worry if you can't hear a thing.. it's always like that. at the time i was encoding i didn't know what the songs were called.. 1st one is letter to al johnson, 2nd one is we multiply. thanks to Chloe (the singer) for clearing that up. i had a lot of fun at this show.. so did the audience. it seems like the last few toronto aidswolf shows have had some crazy dancing going on. today it occured to me that al johnson sounds like metal grinding and screeching, and people screaming...car crash music? i also like the buzzing guitars of we multiply... makes me think of a never ending stream of angry bees swarming down on me. by the way that 2nd pic is so bright because of someone else's flash.. so don't go expecting the video to look like that too. aidswolf seem to tour a lot, and have a bunch of releases coming out soon. if you're curious you should go here to get more info and to hear better recordings edit: 1 file removed

Creeping Nobodies - Adrift skateshop 08/21/05 from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 192 views / likes
right click for the Creeping Nobodies so i missed getting this out in time for the tour... it's pretty dark - due to there only being blue & green lights. i think it looks good, but if you're in a well lit room you might want to turn out the lights. i've noticed things are more visible on my mac than on my pc, which might lead to me posting some videos you can't see. there's reason behind it..basically when i've encoded the video i can see the images clearly. Singer Derek looks pretty demonic in the captured image above.. he's probably one of the most intense performers i've ever seen.. and totally the opposite off-stage. this video is a new song that is either being released on 12" (october) or on their upcoming album(3rd one) ... i think. i have no idea what it's called. this performance featured a power outage mid set due to beer being spilled on the power bars.. after a short recess they came back and upped the intensity to a truly frightening level. i don't remember much from the show.. i've been to too many since then. tomorrow i'll be posting aidswolf footage from the same night. i have more footage from about a year ago opening for Electralane. That footage is b&w and much more visible.. i'll be posting that eventually, even though the band wasn't too happy with their performance that night. . if you're too lazy to click on the link on the side of the page, you can go here for more information

No Dynamics release party from infinite sound on October 10, 2005 225 views / likes
right click to release no dynamics This is from the first night of the release party for no dynamics 12" ep at the bagel . I was supposed to get ahold of some footage from another guy filming to combine it, he'd be doing the close ups, i'd be doing the masters. so far i haven't. when i do i suppose i'll repost this. This is by no means a good introduction.. while the sound in the club was great, for some reason that didn't translate to well to the recording. it was also pretty dark, and as you've seen my camera ain't great for that. there was also a lot of stuff going on (like people with advanced tickets gettin turned away, the bar not serving etc etc) and that would piss me off no end. still after all that i like this song. the next night at the tranzac (it was also supposed to be at the bagel but was moved last minute) was better, but i ran out of tape filming the opening acts. I have some earlier no dynamics stuff that sounds awesome and might no look too bad (i don't remember) which ill post eventually. until then, if you want more get some from aperture enzyme.
