Most structures will resonate at various frequencies of vibration [1][ if they are subjected to a forcing frequency of the same magnitude as one of the structure's resonant frequencies of vibration. Most structures have many resonant frequencies of vibration of different

magnitudes. Frequencies are measured in Hertz (Hz), or cycles per second. The lowest frequency of vibration of a structure is called its fundamental frequency of vibration; it is usually the most serious. In the footage shown, the fundamental frequency of vibration of the wine glass was about 100 Hz, and if the electric guitar generated a noise of about 100 Hz, the sound waves from the electric guitar triggered off this resonant mode of vibration, until catastrophic failure took place.
