The Health Show #1063

Aug 23, 2008
Sometimes we get surprised when a story in a medical journal strikes a chord with the general public and becomes a pretty hot topic. That happened this spring when a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association about the difficulty in finding potentially cancerous flat lesions during a colonoscopy ended up in newspapers and web sites around the world. On this week’s Health Show, we’ll talk to the lead author of that report. We’ll also talk to a leader in the field of infectious diseases in children about the importance of keeping your child’s vaccinations up to date. And we’ll hear about the efforts of relief workers in Afghanistan who are trying to vaccinate kids against polio.
