“Indymedia Presents” #353 we bring the viewer the final part of our coverage of the celebration of the Seattle General Strike of 1919. In this segment we focus on music that came out of interviews with participants in that famous event. Rob Rosenthal is a professor at Wesleyan University who spoke at the celebration. He recounted how in the 1970s he interviewed participants in the Seattle General Strike, and then wrote a rock opera based on his research. He plays two of the songs from that effort and talks about the role music can play in the struggle. The General Strike celebration, which took place in February was sponsored by the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies and the King County Labor Council.
