San Martin resident Leona Reif, a breast cancer survivor who underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation treatment to beat the disease that affects one out of nine women in the world was one of hundreds of volunteers who participated this weekend in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, an all-night, 24-hour event held at Community Park. Reif was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago and decided to have her breast removed. After the surgery, she asked her doctor if and when the cancer might return. Never was his answer, the best answer I ve ever heard, she said smiling. In this video, we show you the opening ceremonies of the relay.
