Although there was a peaceful march from miles outside the city, and they arrived in a festive atmosphere, this level of almost game-like interchange between the PFP and demonstrators, with each lobbing small rocks or using slingshots, did not last.
At approximately 4:30 in the afternoon events changed and the peaceful march descended into running street battles which later broke up into groups roaming the streets for hours and resulted in at least 6 dead, primarily in front of the Facultad de Medecina, north of the Zocalo, when the building was sprayed with bullets by an unknown gang.
