Details on the actual funeral and burial of the singer have been hard to confirm, with initial reports suggesting he would be buried in the morning before the public memorial in a private ceremony with friends and family.
Now however TMZ.com, which broke the news of Jackson's death, have said that the body will take "center stage" at the memorial service.
The public service will be attended by 11,000 randomly determined fans and will feature numerous music stars performing at the event. Over 300 million people worldwide are expected to watch the event via free streaming.
The memorial will also be attended by a host of celebrities including:
Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Luther King III, Lionel Richie, Broke Shields, Usher, Mariah Carey, Andrae Crouch Choir, Berry Gordy, Rev. Al Sharpton, Stevie Wonder, Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend), RonBoyd (family friend), Smokey Robinson, John Mayer, Bernice King and Shaheen Jafargholi.
