band who once featured Guitar Legend Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil) in their 'early days' incarnation. "You Look around the internet and there is NO BAND LIKE US,..NOBODY gets web traffic like us,..and nobody can blow up a Myspace or a Jango Radio Site like us,..or perform on Facebook and Pure Volume and others like we can" says Clark Hagins. With Greenhouse Effect, heavily blog driven videos are the key and "the songs have to be great" is always critical with the cyberspace success and web saviness that is G.e. "I look on Myspace now and I see bands trying to "Be" us,...they don't have tattoos,..they wear long hair,...they try to look like dorks,...but they just can't do it quite right,...they simply are NOT US,....THERE IS CLEARLY ONLY ONE G.E. - WE ARE THE MUSIC REVOLUTION,...ya just can't copy us,..we are too unique and weird,...and that is our weapon" Hagins says that G.e. - all in their mid-40's are almost impossible for today's youngsters to disrespect or dismiss "How the fuck,..I mean how the hell is some kid from today who is 23 or 24 gonna make fun of G.e. ??,...thats fucking ridiculous,.." says Hagins "when they weren't even fuckin' BORN YET WHEN WE WERE AROUND ???" CLARK HAGINS BEGAN HIS musical career some thirty years ago in the "South Bay Area" of Torrance / Redondo Beach communities of Southern Los Angeles County in "White Suburbia" as Hagins calls it,.....In 1994, Hagins self financed and produced two cd's of Greenhouse Effect Music,....the second cd ofcourse turning out to be one of Alternative rock's all time great releases in "The Rock Opera White Suburban Liars",....Today, Hagins is seen millions of times a day all around the internet and around the world in cyberspace as one of the web's most known fixtures and with one of the planet's most known alternative rock songs in "Brandy" ( 1991 ). "Brandy is the vehicle that G.e. has ridden to Superstardom i'll admit" says Hagins ",..but whatever it takes to get me and our music to a higher place is what it is". Bassist Rick Carmody , once of the South Bay's One Handed Readers punk band is one third of the "Holy trio" that is always G.e. - though many band members ,..and particularly drummers came and went with G.e. - "We always faced challenges as a three piece" says Hagins "But we were always such good players that LIVE is where we really took off,..we always made sure to have great drummers,..we had Marty Silva of San Pedro and Long Beach punk drummer Greg Tarpley at different times,..they made us sound very loud and very tight live" Hagins served as drummer or guitarist in many bands around the South Bay among them the Jim Mellon Quartet where Hagins 'learned' his Live trade at many sweaty dank shows at the tiny Hermosa Saloon in Hermosa Beach California. Today, G.e. has made the tiny Saloon and it's trophy laiden walls of fame ,..world famous as a 1991 gig by G.e. is forever immortalised in cyberspace. "So many people come up to me and want to talk about all the 'glory days' of the Hermosa Saloon" says Hagins "they ask me what it was like to play there and I tell them it was great,...simply a fabulous little venue" Greenhouse Effect are quite notable and remarkable for their time spent as "The Original Nirvana band" - that is the 'phase' where Hagins took to lead guitar in September of 1990 and began acting zaney onstage, often reading nonsensicle poetry and lyrics and 'going insane' turning inward awkwardly, smashing his guitar, as he wore longsleeve shirts "in honor of SST RECORDS BANDS" as bassist Rick Carmody and drummer Greg Tarpley were all decked out in flannels.... "We wanted so much to be like Black Flag, Swa, dc3, and the Minutmen from sst - we never even heard of Nirvana - We thought that Seattle sucked and we still do pretty much" says Hagins. Greenhouse Effect music and Brandy are seen so much that Major Labels strive to "Buy traffic" and "Links" in an order effort to keep up with the mighty G.e. "Its no use" says Hagins "we just get bigger and bigger everyday - and they get smaller ,...we are the kings,...our music is straight from the heart,..we are real,...we are 'real' dorks,....we are real losers,...you can't fake that,....if you go to the South Bay, you find out that they all hate me there and they think I'm a dick - you can't FAKE THAT,....I AM REALLY a person that people hate and no one likes - that is the real shit my friends,...we 'are' rock n roll,...G.e. invents,...we are innovators ....the way I see it, if a lot of Liberals hate you ,..you must be fuckin' hella COOL !!" GREENHOUSE EFFECT strive to have great songs and great material in an era of phoney emo rock and boring hip hop repetition and R & B standards of MTV... "MTV CAN SUCK A FUCKING COCK" says Hagins ..... SupernetCelebrities.comshow less...
