selects at least one farm family to provide a lunch meal that they deliver and serve wherever the farmers are working that day.
Thirty members of the Armstrong farm family, representing 4 generations, enjoyed lunch in the farm shed at David Armstrong’s, just outside of Jacksonville, in Morgan County, on Tuesday, September 22.
David said harvest, like last year, is going to be late. “We’re going to have corn that will probably be testing 30% at Thanksgiving.”
Armstrong does hope to begin harvesting some corn next week that he believes will test 25% moisture. He expects to see a lot of variance in yields this season, with the rolling ground yields higher than the norm, while the flat, black ground will yield less.
