The aim is to encourage banks to terminate their ATMs and POS terminals to the EMV standards.
Most local lenders are members of Visa and/or MasterCard and so apply their standards. The standards should be applied in Bulgaria because they work all over the world, commented UBB CEO Stiliyan Vatev.
Signing the agreement depends on banks’ preparedness and investment capacities, said DSK Bank chief executive Violina Marinova.
