Brad Pattison from Yuppy Puppy bankruptcy fame and At the End of My Leash program displays his ignorance of dog training and his tendency to abuse and berate dogs for his own failures.
In this clip he takes out his frustration on a woman's dog.
What would you rather he talk softly and gave the dog a treat, begging and nagging. You probaly do.
No actually he did not abuse the dog he was training it. Just so everyone knows tapping (and I mean tapping) a dog on the snout is a way to stop a dog from many forms of bad behavior (You all will notice in the video he only taps the dog on the snout). Who knows what that dog is in training for. Lay off people. He's an amazing trainer...trust me I know I've worked with and seen many dog trainer's, he's one of the best. Whacking the dog on the nose is not training. This guy is well known in Canada for his abusive methods.
Most people who criticise Brad's methods have not actually seen them in person and in detail.In fact, even the IPDTA is incorrect in their response to his methods (even the simple things like what kinds of collars he uses and how they work).I have worked with some violent dogs who failed (were absolutely DISINTERESTED in treats [anything from processed treats to steak] ) training classes and have been turned around by sterner methods.So, would you rather have the dog get a smack on the snout or bite you? At the end of the day its your call.the question for the treats based method is -- do you like your dog following you around like a whimpering sack of shit begging for its next hit?

Any time you are giving attention to a dog's negative behavior, whether it is tapping, smacking, or just speaking, it only reinforces the negative behavior you don't want. IT DOES NOT CORRECT IT!!!!!!! I wish people would just understand this, then everyone would learn how to have a great relationship with their dog and still be a great leader, not a control freak.

That ain't tapping. That's slapping. If I am the owner of that dog, I'd slapped that fucking moron myself. He's making the dog fear him. That's all. That's the weakest training I've seen. What a dick.

As a professional animal trainer myself, I use scientific and humane methods for training animals. If you think this guys is an animal trainer then you have no idea what you are talking about. I am sick to my stomach after watching this. How could that woman let this idiot to that to her dog? Pathetic.
I think this is awful. He jerks the dog up by the collar, and that sure sounds harder than a tap. If that had been my dog, it would be Brad's nose getting "tapped" with my fist! And I would jerk him by the neck
I have never, ever seen a trainer, not even the infamous Mr. Millan, actually hit a dog the way this Brad Pattinson does. And the dog wasn't doing ANYTHING to deserve it! He was just sitting there at the end of a choke chain, trying to breathe. Mr. Pattinson didn't stop hitting him until he cried. To me, that makes Mr. Pattinson a bully, not a dog trainer.

What an arrogant asshole. In the way he dealt with his client, I don't see any professionalism at all. A trainer should maintain a calm, in control attitude at all times. If I was his student, I would kick his ass to the curb and find another trainer. It's all about respect and I don't see that here. BIG BOO TO BRAD PATTISON!!!! TWO PAWS DOWN!
What a disgusting, bullying coward. Stringing an animal up so it cant move and whacking it - IT IS NOT TRAINING. Those of you that think so? Macho idiots. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. Childish and petulant. This fool gives dog trainers a BAD NAME. If he did that to my dog I would prosecute. I am SO glad its on video. Maybe the owner can complain to ASPCA and get the nutcase put behind bars for cruelty. Why didnt the owner yell at him!? Don't anyone EVER EVER tell me this video represents 'training'. Come train with me or any other accredited trainer - you will learn something useful for a change.
Poor chap. Does he actually think he is a good dog trainer! Hopeless. Not much good with humans either. There are so many alternatives to this sort of training and atmosphere.
You people know nothing about training, learning principles, and forming a solid foundation with a dog. Brad Pattison does not train, he just uses random techniques and then preaches at the owners until they're bullied into believing they work.

I've seen brad in action. He's an idiot, arrogant, and knows nothing about dog behavior. He is a phony. People who think he's great don't understand dog behavior and think old school methods are a good way to train a dog. The days of old were never good then. Brad flunked acting school, now he pretends to know something about dogs. He does more harm than good. Watch good trainers, you'll see a Huge difference. Unfortunately, Brad has the reality tv show that only offers pitting pet dog owners against each other and sets them up to fight behind the scenes. He lies to them, has people do things he says, then claimes they don't listen and makes the dogs look bad and him a king. He's a loser.
