This Kowloon-based immigration consultant, who has requested his identity to remain anonymous, thinks he has located an "unofficial border crossing" on the banks of Deep Bay, north of Tin Shui Wai and south of Shenzhen. From Lau Fau Shan, a busy fish market, mainland China is visible through the haze and it is here that he suspects many people cross here illegally - under the noses of the nearby police station and the Immigration Department. The passengers, he claims, are asylum seekers or those who have refugee status and therefore cannot leave or enter Hong Kong through official channels.
