Five dollar. Five dollar foot looooong. The Spot And The Rest Of The Story That catchy phrase is making its way into millions of homes across the country, and is certain to remind patrons to stop by their neighborhood Subway for a foot-long sub at a great deal. This newly premiered spot, entitled "Monster," was imagined and produced by New York's Transistor Studios, sister company of Backyard. The live-action legacy of the latter is being carried on by the former, along with cutting-edge animation and visual effects. Thus the can't-get-this-song-out-of-my-head theme of this spot is not the only advertising technique to lure hungry customers into Jared's favorite eating establishment; it's also the colorful, imaginative visuals that have never been displayed in a Subway commercial before. At the center of the 30-second story is a simple hand gesture: an upraised hand (to signify five dollars), followed by outstretched arms (the apparently-universal symbol for a foot-long Subway sandwich). The term "apparently universal" is used here because the spot displays a number of people (and things, most notably the titular character) in various places craving the same thing.
